Rest in Peace !!!
Rest in Peace !!!
My wife and I just spent a week at the sister property to the one shown here. We had an excellent time. The Chalet is very well maintained, cool and quiet. There are about six of these in a row back off the road and though they are close we were never disturbed. The location is perfect. You are close to Asheville, Cherokee, a quick trip to the tourist traps in Tennessee and miles and miles of very serene mountain drives. If you need a shot of adrenalin, you can go to Deals Gap and drive the "Tail of the Dragon". It's 11 miles with 138 curves most hairpin. Then come back to Chalet for a quiet cocoa, coffee or chilled beverage and just mellow out. We found lots of nice places to eat in Maggie and Waynesville and you can save a few bucks staying in and cooking. The Chalet kitchen had all the necessities to set up house. We checked in on Sunday afternoon and the following Sunday when we pulled out we spent 8 hours driving home just talking about all we had done, how well rested were and what a great bang we had gotten for our buck. Thanks Leisa !!!

Owner response: How do I even respond to such an awesome review?? I can only express how truely happy it makes me to know others appreciate the Chalet as much as we do. Until you actually go and experience the serenity you feel while you are there, you can't understand it. Thank you for the heartfelt review.

The Chalet was just perfect
Hi Leisa, I owe you a huge apology for not emailing you sooner! My schedule has been so busy since our trip. For example, we returned home on Sunday, I worked Monday and we had basketball games Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights! Its been kinda crazy. Please know that my negligence in no way indicates our experience with your chalet. We had a wonderful time!!!! The chalet was just perfect!!! You never know how you will "fit in" with the housing. As soon as we got there, we all felt at home. It was so welcoming to find the fireplace on and the place nice and toasty when we arrived. We really expected it to be freezing cold inside especially since we arrived at about midnight. It was cozy and charming and just felt right! My sons are convinced that we should try and buy it - lol!! We ate all but one meal "at home", which really made it feel like home even more. We had my oldest son's homemade waffles every morning! It was nice to just spend time there just hanging out together. We talked about what it would be like to be there during the fall and summer! You never know, I may be back in touch with you, lol. Two mornings, we woke up to a thin blanket of snow outside. How beautiful it was! As you know, the location is perfect!! We took advantage of the free ski ticket for my youngest on Friday and skiied again Saturday. We also took a day trip to Cherokee. We just had so much fun!! As a mom, I know you appreciate the time we spent together as a family. It was such a blessing to me. The whole trip was one answer after another to prayers - from safe travel, perfect lodging, no injuries, wonderful bonding time, patient, positive attitudes, fun!, etc etc etc. Leisa, thank you so much! We appreciate how you worked with us - especially with the changes to our travel dates! And thanks for returning our security deposit so quickly!! It has been a pleasure!! God bless, Linda

Location...location...Location ! Perfect place for our hiking in the parks, whitewater rafting and exploring our southern states. We enjoyed the quiet of the area in the evening hours. Just a 30 minute drive in any direction and we found everything we were looking for. Cabin was clean and the perfect size for our small family. When the Smoky Mountains are calling you...give this area in Maggie Valley careful concideration !

A Slice of Paradise
A Slice of Paradise
My husband and I loved the chalet! It was so cozy, clean, and accommodating. We recently had some personal matters happen & thought a change of scenery would help & it did! The bed were perfect and every night we were there we slept like babies. The kitchen was full of every household item you needed if you felt like staying in and cooking. The grounds were well kept. We enjoyed the swings near the playground; so peaceful, just listening to the rolling creek. What I'm saying in a nutshell is THIS PLACE IS PERFECT! Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy a slice of paradise. We will definitely be returning.

Owner response: Jennifer, I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Chalet. I remember your husband calling the day you wanted to arrive and I was able to email you the lease and set up the PayPal payment so you could check in hours later. If I remember correctly, you did everything while on the road? He was so nice and patient while I confirmed with the cleaning people that the Chalet was squeaky clean (as I just had someone check out) and ready for your arrival. Sorry to hear about the personal matters, but sometimes it takes a change of environment to help make things better. Glad the Chalet was the perfect medicine for that. I too go there as my "go to" place when I need a breathe of fresh air...literally! I look forward to "seeing" you in the future. God bless!
My wife and I, along with our dog, Frodo, celebrated our 53rd anniversary in Maggie Valley. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the A frame was. It was roomy and very comfortable. To sit on the front porch on a lovely afternoon and take in the beautiful mountain view, well it was special. We were also close to a number of good restaurants and activities. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys getting away from the rat race and escaping to the Smokies.

Owner response: I am so pleased you enjoyed the Chalet, not surprised though! It truly is my little slice of heaven and so enjoy sharing it with others. Congrats on your 53rd anniversary, may you celebrate, many, many more wonderful years together!
I rented this Chalet for a week for my daughter and two children to stay. Every year they go to the Lake Junaluska (SDA Campmeeting) in North Carolina. Before she always would camp out with the kids so she could afford it the whole week. They talked me in to driving up from GA.to be with them. They arrived at the Chalet a hour before me....and when I drove up my grandson ran out to greet me and said, "Grandma, You're gonna like it....it is so nice! I was amazed how beautiful the Chalet was. It was so relaxing there. I even got to bring my little 5 year old Yorkie (a small deposit required) and that made me very happy as well to have my little pet with me.. The drinking water was so cold. In Ga. you couldn't get the water to come out cold...it was always just a little cool. It was wonderful to get a cold drink of water right out of the faucet. We ate at the Chalet a lot of times and found everything at our finger tips that we needed. It was nice that the bath area was separate from the sink area. That way we could be working on hair and all while the other one was taking a shower. It was nice having a washer and dryer, too. We really enjoyed our stay there. It was just beautiful, and cool most of the time...so we didn't have to run the Air/Con much at all. When it came time to leave we were a little sad....wishing we had another week just to chill out and not go to meetings. Sometime when you rent something on-line, you really don't know what to expect....but in this case we were very pleased. The Chalet was comfortable, clean, affordable and beautiful! I want to go back when there is no camp-meeting....so I can fully enjoy the beautiful Chalet and all the surrounding areas. The Mt. views were breathtaking.. Thank you Leisa for everything you did to help make it possible for me to rent the Chalet. You are a special person and I will never forget your kindness and helpfulness. Looking forward to another stay in your beautiful Chalet. Thankful, appreciative hugs from Midge.

Our romantic and very relaxing Mountain vacation!
Our romantic and very relaxing Mountain vacation!
Our experience was unbelieveable. The cabin was absolutley perfect not to mention gorgeous!! It was a home away from home. Anything you could want was right there, inside the cabin. Only 20 mins from Cherokee, NC and 45 mins from Gatlinburg, TN! The chalet was very clean, organized, very cozy and special. We will be coming back. Hopefully you will have it available for the day after Christmas through the week of New Years. My boyfriend and I will love to be there again! Thank you so much for renting out this very beautiful and unique chalet/cabin. :))))

Twol Delightful Stays...Perfect Location and Lovely Chalet!
Twol Delightful Stays...Perfect Location and Lovely Chalet!
My husband and I have rented this chalet twice and would have come back again in April but it was unavailable. We can't say enough about how great our stays have been. The owner has been super to deal with...she always responds very quickly to any request and is so friendly! We always have found it clean and very comfortable. It is very easy to get to...no steep roads to climb, paved access, great parking and very convenient to Maggie Valley, Cherokee and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have four chihuahuas that we like to travel with and the chalet was the ideal spot. We were able to put up a little "fence" using their exercise pens right outside the back door so that we could just let them in and out. They had lots of fun "communicating" with the dogs up the hill! The chalet is very well equipped as advertised. We brought our paper products and things that we thought we would need with us. The kitchen has all of the necessities. In November of 2010 we brought our grandson up for the Polar Express at Thanksgiving and after taking him home, we returned for the rest of the week. The gas fireplace is wonderful...in fact it was sometimes too warm and we had to turn it down, so we were very comfortable in spite of the cold weather( we had a sprinkling of snow). We had scheduled the last week of August last year but with the hurricane threatening us at home, we were afraid to leave. The owner was so nice about it and let us switch weeks, so we were there the first of November 2011 and it was a great stay. Other than our super ziplining experience, we spent a good deal of time just enjoying the chalet. We also enjoy going to the Casino at Cherokee and the chalet is only a short drive over the mountain. We definitely plan on returning. It has been an ideal choice for us and our "babies"! Some of the activities that we would recommend are the Polar Express, ziplining, hiking on the parkway, helicopter ride at Cherokee, LaZoom tour in Asheville if you go that way, Biltmore House and the farmer's market. We love eating at Moose Cafe (farmer's market), Legends, Joey's Pancake House and Paula Deen's.

Owner response: I think I felt worse than you when I couldn't accomodate your dates in April. I had donated a week to our church to auction off at a silent auction to raise funds for our youth building. The "winners" of the auction choose the exact week you were looking for, and unfortunately our other Chalet had been previously booked. I so look forward to hearing from you and the four "b's" again and thank you for such a wonderful review!

About the owner: Although this picture of our family is several years old, it is still a favorite. I just love the smug look on everyone's face. We tend to have a lot of fun and laugh together, so serious faces are hard to come by. The kids have both outgrown me now, which I'm told isn't too difficult since I'm 5'2'. There is a photo shop a couple of minutes from the Chalet where you can have these done. It can be a lot of fun choosing your costumes and playing the part!
Why the Owner Chose Maggie Valley:
We reside in Melbourne, Florida and really wanted a place to get away to that was a completely different environment from what we see everyday. We actually were looking in Bryson City when we started our search for a home in the mountains. We looked at several, but absolutely fell in love with this little village of A-frames in Maggie Valley. Saying the town is quaint is an understatement. And oh, those mountains...magical. It's a nine hour drive from our home, but I count down the days until my next visit to the mountains. The drive time doesn't phase me at all because I know what is at the end of the trip. The drive to the Chalet is so easy as there are no steep inclines to tackle and the road is paved right up to the doorstep. When I'm on the last leg of the journey I get that jittery feeling like when you first started dating someone special and you are about to see them. When you first walk in you can't help but feel relaxed. The Chalets are kept immaculate so there is never anything to 'do' other than unpack and put up your groceries. Then the recliner invites you to take a load off. That's when a nap usually kicks in, even it's a ten minute shut-eye.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
Although a handfull of the A-frames in our community are rentals, it never gets 'busy' up there. Most of the homes are privately owned and the owner's visit spiratically through the year. There can be times when I don't see anyone for days! The summer is the busiest time, so you might get to meet some neighbors then. Sitting out on the front porch on either of our Chalets is one of the most relaxing times you can have. I enjoy my cup of tea on the porch everyday I am there and just listen to the creek from across the street. It sounds like a waterfall in the distance. Directly in front of one of our Chalets is the community swing set. You can grill out on the porch while the kids are in direct sight of you at all times. It's no wonder this unit tends to bring back families year after year. Each season brings a fresh face to the sights. I go up 3-4 times a year and am always finding new places to visit. I do a little research before I go and visit at least one new place each time. Of course I have my favorites, like the walk up the mountain right next to the Chalet. It will give your legs a burn and I've never had a car pass so I sit right down in the middle of the road at the top. The pavement is usually warmed by the sun and the horses are grazing next to you. But it's the view that you walk for. It's one of my favorite places on earth because the mountains seem to go on forever. When clouds are in the sky it's beautiful to watch the moutains change as the shadows move past them. Time sort of stands still on that mountain. And you talk about quiet?? Streams and birds are all you will hear for as long as you stay.
