  We recently had our wedding at Hale Kiwi and the house lived up to more than my expectations. The house itself was very clean. The caretaker was friendly and helpful. The setting for the wedding was spectacular!! It was a small wedding and the size of the yard and the covered veranda was perfect for our table of 27. One thing I note from above, the blinds in the master still need to be repaired.. f or a young couple staying in the suite, it was awkward to have your family walking around past our bedroom with the windows open.That being said, the location is great! A short car ride from the town, beautiful view. the house is fully equipped and we needed absolutely nothing. there were even lights and tiki torches and vases for our use. The pool is gorgeous and the pool and guest houses were perfect for the couples that stayed with us to give them some private time. I would absolutely stay here again! The moment I walked into the front door and saw the big open living room tand looked out towards the ocean, I was in love! ps. our caterer was katherine louie with outrageous gourmet!! I highly recommend her she is amazing!!!

  This is the BEST property for large groups like ours. Everyone had their own bedrooms and baths plus, there is so many extra blow-up mattress and foam mattresses that kids got to switch around sleeping with each other. The house is beautiful and roomy. The grounds, the cabana, and the pool are stunning. If you have 9 grandkids like we did, the pool is a big hit! The best thing this lovely home has going for it is Jo H. who cares so much for her guests. She gave us her cell phone # and was literally at our beck and call. She walked us through the whole house, telling us all we needed to know and answering our questions..she even had a pineapple and limes from her yard waiting for us! She helped us with any questions we had with the home PLUS she gave us tips, directions, and advice when it came to our activities. She even told us about a wonderful church we attended where you can choose service inside a sweet, old church or sit outside on the grounds by the beach..very special for us. Needless to say, we loved our vacation because of this beautiful home and property AND because we were so well taken care of. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone with a large group.   Hale Kiwi Plantation was the perfect spot for our family reunion (20+ people) last February. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and casually elegant. The covered porch was never empty - unless we were out exploring. Good location, plenty of parking, beautiful landscaping. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked with dishes, serving dishes, silverware, pretty much anything you might need - even THREE blenders! We encountered only two issues. First, there was really only one bathroom which could accommodate our wheelchair bound relative. This was in one of the Garden Suites. We also installed a ramp to the front door (which they have) and smoothed a path to the pool area by way of the driveway and pool house. He said he'd love to come again, so it all worked out fine. The other issue was that the pool was quite chilly. We understand that it was solar heated. Perhaps the time of year did not allow for much heating, but only the bravest of us actually spent much time in the pool. That said, we had a great time! The caretaker was friendly and helpful, as was the owner. The photos shown here are quite accurate and give a good sense of the openness of this beautiful home - especially the video which shows the breeze blowing through the trees. We highly recommend this property!

  We were a party of 14 friends. We loved this place! Plenty of room to be by ourselves and a great place to hang out when we wanted to all be together. The kitchen is stocked with every utensil you'll need. The grounds and facilities are immaculate, very comfortable beds. There were even two sets of fairly good golf clubs so two of us did not need to rent. Matts, boogie boards etc for the beach. Pool was cool but refreshing after a round of golf. On-site caretakers are very friendly and helpful. About 3 miles to Safeway, K-Mart and downtown Kona. We hope to stay again!

  I just wanted to let you know the house was fabulous for the 6 days we stayed there. It was more than we could imagine. The pictures on the web don't do it justice. It is such a beautiful place. The wedding went off without a hitch. Everything was just perfect. I just wanted to thank you. It was a pleasure working with you on the rental.

  I am writing this as part of a group that just rented this property for a week. The plantation was a perfect set up for a large party. Unfortunately, it wasn't very clean. We were disappointed to see how much dust and dirt was on the ceiling fans, walls and floors. The ceiling fan above the food preparation area had close to a half inch of dirt (no exaggeration). All dishes had to be washed each time we used them because we found roaches in cupboards and on counters three days in a row. In addition, there were ants and centipedes on the pool deck and more ants in the bathroom. One of the screens on the lanai had a large opening allowing feral cats into the house. There was also no way to lock the house. In addition, we were unable to secure our valuables because the key to the safe was broken. What made it even worse; the caretaker made no offer to remedy the problem. This made us uncomfortable. Over half the lights on the lanai were burned out making it difficult for our guests to see safely. The bathtub had a dirt ring around it and the master bedroom privacy blinds toward the lanai did not work. With good maintenance, this place would have been wonderful. The rental agent told us before renting, "You will not be disappointed." We attempted to contact the rental agent five days before this posting but he did not respond. We were mislead.

  Owner response: We are extremely prideful of our property and would not be able to have operated successfully for the last 6 years if our guests truly felt mislead about the quality of our home. When guests arrive, they are escorted through the property by our full time caretaker and advised to inform of any problems during any time of their stay. Although we strive to present the house in perfect order, if there are problems, we are only too happy to correct them. During the past six years, we have taken any constructive criticism and used it for the betterment of the property. In order to have a fair opportunity to correct problems, we have toll free contact numbers for myself and our caretaker, who also lives within a stone's throw of the estate. In certain circumstances our guests could have also contacted their rental agent during their stay. If there was a problem we could not have corrected we would have been more than happy to offer our guests alternate accommodations or even a refund if we completely failed. We would only expect in return that a refund wasn't requested after spending a week without objecting. We consider it a privilege to have so many different guests stay at our home and we are very disappointed by these remarks.

  My family stayed at the Kona Oceanview Plantation Estate in September. We were amazed at the beauty when we arrived to the estate. There is enough room for 20 people, the kitchen is supplied with everything that you should need, of course you will have to buy your food. The pictures you see on the website will be just what you see in person. The property was clean and well taken care of. The pool is great. The beach is not far away and the water is beautiful. The caretaker was available to lend a hand with anything that was needed. Our family will definetly go back.

  We rented this property for a family vacation for 17 people, of various age ranges. This location perfectly accommodated everyone; the separate houses gave everyone their own escape from all the family activities. Everyone in the group was pleased with house and the amenities it offered, the kids LOVED the pool.
