One of the best reveiws you can give any vacation condo is repeated stays. This is our fourth stay in five years which probably sums it all up. We were not suprised at the number of repeat guests from around the world that stay here based on reading the guest books. It is very apparent that Alex and Michelle care very much about their guests experience staying at their condo. Alex and Michelle are wonderful to work with and extremely helpful. From the time you walk in to the condo, you know you are welcome.....you are greeted with a breath taking view from your own lanai. I cannot say enough at how well maintained and how well outfitted this condo is. Everything from beach mats, snorkels, fins, masks, beach towels, and ice chests, to help you enjoy your stay. We feel just like it is "our" second home. The condo is very clean, tile and carpets are in great shape as well as the furniture. It has newer high end washer and dryer, recently replaced appliances, Linens and towels are recently replaced as well. The kitchen is completely outfitted. Anyway, you get the idea. This unit is a huge value in our opinion. The condo is on the second floor and it is about 30 feet from the ocean. You are able to leave the slider open and enjoy the tropical breeze all day long. We ate every breakfast on the lanai and watched the sunset almost every evening. Without a doubt, there is not a better veiw of the sunset in Kona than from this lanai. We loved it. Remember, location, location, location. This condo is a short walk to "down town" Kona on very safe....almost trafic free street. We walked every where in Kona.. I can't thank Alex and Michelle for the outstanding hospitality that they shared with us. They were very attentive to us on this stay. Told us of the coolest snorkeling place. The great places to eat. Made sure everything was ok there at the condo. I would stay here again. Coolest view of the ocean and sunset. Priceless!

We absolutely love the ocean front view! We see the Turtles and the whales right from the Lanai. We also enjoy the barbecues by the pool. We also like walking, and we are so close to town with all the restaurants and night life!

The property was very clean. Everything we needed was at the condo. The owner was very helpful. Helped us find some wonderful restaurants. We love this condo and will be back and would recommend this place to all our friends. This place is perfect location and the view is breath taking looking at the ocean watching the whales and dolphins. Can not wait for next year when we go back.

This condo was everything we had hoped for. Alex (the owner) was extremely helpful in answering all of our questions. The unit was wonderfully provisioned with everything we needed, including great snorkeling equipment and very comfortable beach chairs. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai and were happy everyday to come back in time for the beautiful sunsets. The soothing sounds of the surf with the gentle breezes at night made for a perfect sleeping environment. We would be happy to come back and stay here every year! (but it is already booked!) Thanks, Alex, for sharing your piece of paradise!

We very much enjoyed our weeklong stay at your Kona Reef Condo - quiet, well kept and in an excellent location (within walking distance) to shopping, restaurants and activities of Kailua-Kona. The ocean front area and lanai were some of our favorite places to unwind after snorkeling with turtles in aquarium-like surroundings at the nearby beaches, specifically Kahalu'u, our favorite. We spent hours relaxing and watching the waves and surfers, but 20 feet away from our lanai. Thank you so much for a great vacation and sharing your piece of paradise with us. We very much look forward to staying here again! This was our third trip to the Big Island and by far the best accommodations in every respect.

A Little Piece of Heaven

I cannot say enough good things about this fabulous property at Kona Reef owned by Alex and Michele. From the moment you walk in the door you feel like you have arrived in paradise. The condo is beautifully decorated and very modern with all the comforts of home. It is absolutely spotless. The kitchen is well equipped with everything that you need to prepare a first class gourmet meal which makes such a difference. I have stayed at places where kitchen tools have been marginal and you don't enjoy or find it awkward to prepare food. This is not the case here. The washer and dryer have recently been upgraded and are right in the unit for your convenience. That makes such a difference especially if you are a sports enthusiast or choose to pack lightly. There is snorkeling equipment, beach chairs and a cooler bag so you don't have to worry about renting these items for days when you go to the beach. I absolutely love the lanai overlooking the ocean. It's private and there is nothing better than waking up first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee or last thing at night with a fine glass of wine sitting on the lanai listening to the sound of the wave and just enjoying the spectacular view. It's also very close to town which is a very attractive feature so there is no need to have to drive all the time. As for the grounds and the pool area, they are immaculate. There is also a great barbecue area for your convevience. Would I stay there again? You bet! This will be our third time that we have booked at this wonderful condo. Alex, the owner is first class! If there is ever a problem which there isn't he is easily reached and very accomodating. It's our little piece of heaven and home away from home.

Had a great time in this condo, the description provided by owner is accurate; the place is clean and nicely furnished. Appliances are like new and everything worked well. Bathroom is upgraded. It is a quiet place to stay. I have stayed at Kona Reef three times and this place was easily the best experience. If you stay at Kona Reef make sure you get an ocean-front place; the surf hides all traffic noise, and the view is really great. A big highlight is opening the doors front and back and have the ocean breeze blowing through the condo all day; no AC needed! All pre-trip arrangements went without a hitch and the owners are very attentive to any needs or questions. Unlike going through some of these handling companies, where you have to go somwhere to pick up a key, the key was simply in a lockbox on the door; very handy. Just a few minutes walk from the Kona shopping / dining places. The small park next door is used a lot by an "interesting" mix of local characters so we pretty much stuck to the condo grounds instead. Used this place as our base to go up and down the coast for snorkeling and beach time. We hope to return!

Wonderful condo on Big Island

My husband & I stayed at this condo for a week in Sept 2012. During our vacation, we stayed at three other condos -- this one was by far the best. Very clean, private, bug-free, equipped with appliances, water toys, washer/dryer, a security screen door (nice touch to enjoy the cross breeze without worries), cooking spices. There are ceiling fans in the living room & bedroom, no AC needed.. Alex was very helpful ahead of time, answering all my questions, describing the resort and area. Also he tells his cleaning team to leave any in-date food at the condo, so we didn't need to buy butter, salad deressing, etc. In return we left some food there too, so check out the condo before shopping. The resrt itself was beautful & well-maintained, with both a large-sized pool & a hot tub. I swim laps, so the pool size is important to me. We used the barbecue a couple of times, which was also well-maintained. The resort is within walking distance of the "town", where you could eat, check out the night-life ,shop... I do advise a rental car though, as there is much to see & do on the island. Ocean front? Absolutely! We enjoyed our time on the lanai each morning & evening, watching the surfers. They were out in the ocean sunrise to sunset. There is a small beach next door, but not really good for swimmers -- very rocky bottom & rough waves (hence the surfers). We took a daytrip to a beach further north -- very nice. Pack your food and drink in the cooler supplied at the condo! While on Hawaii, we took a kayak/snorkeling trip to Cap't Cooks monument (best snorkeling we found; kayak with a tour company, don't do a boat!), horse-riding up country, daytrip to a beach, sightseeing, & took in some night-life in town. A great trip & a great place to stay. Would we come back to the same condo? Absolutely ! Do we recommend it to others? Absolutely yes! Alex, the only upgrade I would recommend to you is to have a ceiling light/fan combo on the lanai. It would be nice to read on the lanai after dark, & a fan would help with the breeze. Minor suggestion, but you did ask!

AMAZING KONA VACATION - WE KEEP COMING BACK

We keep coming back to this beautiful ocean-front condo. After staying at several places in the islands over the years, we are happiest staying here. We are only 23 feet from the ocean and have all of the comforts of home. Alex and Michelle have made us feel so welcome. They've thought of everything. The condo is modern and well furnished and has everything we need to feel at home. We feel like the ocean is in our living room. Our favorite restaurants are just a short walk away. Whether you're going out for breakfast, happy hour, or dinner, you don't need to take your car out of the free parking structure. We also enjoy breakfast on the balcony or use the barbeque next to the pool to prepare dinner. We love this spot so much that we've booked our next three trips. We're now coming twice a year for 2 weeks each time. This really feels like our home away from home.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 11 day vacation here. The location couldn't be better - lanai overlooking the ocean, so close that the sound of the waves can be heard throughout the condo, and an easy short walk to town. It is very clean and well-supplied and the owners are friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends as a great place to stay while on the Big Island.

Awesome Condo with Amazing View!

My husband and I spent three days at this lovely condo to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. When we arrived the owners, Alex and Michele, had a chilled bottle of chardonnay waiting for us! Talk about a nice touch! The place was beautifully decorated, and the kitchen had everything in it anyone would ever need to cook a gourmet dinner. However, our favorite part of the condo was the lanai, more specifically the view from the lanai. We ate all of our meals there so we could drink in the breathtaking ocean views and watch all of the fun activities on the water. Alex and Michele also have a very handy blue binder in the living room which contains menus from literally dozens of local restaurants. That binder came in handy for our planning. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This condo was a wonderful find. We were within walking distance to town, restaurants and many activities. Upon entering the condo, the sound of the water was soothing. We were right on the ocean. We could watch dolphin swimming, and many other activities on the ocean, right from our deck. The condo was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The owner was very accessible throughout the entire planning timeframe until the end of our stay. We would highly recommend this condo for your vacation stay.

Proposal on the Lanai

Alex & Michele, First words that came to mind while out on your Lanai was "Wow", "Amazing", and "Breathtaking". I decided to surprise my girlfriend with a trip to Hawaii and Alex was a tremendous help with information about the area and his condo. This was my first trip to Hawaii and it couldn't have gone better. After much deliberation with Alex as to where I should propose, I had decided I was most likely going to do it on the beach somewhere. He was too modest and didn't mention his Lanai....But on that first night watching the sunset having a drink I felt it was the perfect place. I got down on one knee with the sunset at our sides and asked her to marry me and she said "YES"! We would recommend this spot to anyone as it has everything you could possibly need around you. The best snorkeling I have ever done. Thanks again for sharing your place with us, we'll definitely be back.

This condo is gorgeous! My husband and I left the kids with grandma and took a week to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in Kona. We had the wonderful privilege of finding this gem online- WOW! Within walking distance of everything important in Kona as far as shops, drinks, food, even snorkeling (which you can do right out the back door of the complex, if you wish!). We had a Wonderful time and cannot wait to plan a trip back! A heartfelt Shout-Out to Alex and Michele for such a wonderful stay- and Thank You for the Chardonnay and Flowers! Mahalo!

This condo was perfect for our 10th Anniversary! All we had to do was buy groceries, as everything else we needed was already stocked in the condo! Beautiful view with the ocean Right There (!) past our lanai. Everything within downtown Kona was within walking distance, which was wonderful when we went out for drinks! Fabulous snorkeling, wonderful boogie-boarding, great food- we couldn't have asked for more! And thank you, Alex and Michelle, for the lovely bottle of wine and flowers! We can't wait to book another trip back!

We had such a lovely time in this condo. It was so spotless and charming and the views of the ocean and sunsets were unbelieveable. The condo was very nice and had everything we needed. The pool and bbq areas were also spotless. It was nice to be able to sit around the pool and still be so close to the ocean. Alex was so helpful in getting us set up and shared so much valuable information about the Island. We only had a few short days, but next time we are staying for much longer and would probably rent this condo again. A perfect 5 out of 5! Thanks again for everything Alex, Carol & Brian

Fabulous stay at Kona Reef at D12

Our stay has been excellent. What a fabulous condo. The decor was done with such class and the owners provided us with all we needed and more. A wonderful breeze coming through the condo day and night. Sitting on the lanaii was our favorite watching the huge waves, surfers and we even saw the spinner dolphins. We would recommend this condo to anyone we know. If we are lucky enough to go back to Kona we would definitely try to stay there. The property inside and out was really clean and well maintained. It is close to shopping and restaurants. We recommend Bubba Gump's, and Lava Java for food. A ride to Volcanoes National Park is great. We stopped at everything that looks like something to see and have really nice surprises some of the time.

Kona Reef, D12 is truly a remarkable find. We had no idea what to expect when I first got in touch with Alex on VRBO, but had great hopes. As we walked in for the first time several years ago, it was immediately apparent we had hit the jackpot. Well decorated, new appliances, comfortable bed, and view that just won't quit. Close to restaurants and shops, a short drive to groceries and other needs. Whates, turtles, surfers and cruise ships from the lanai, not to mention some "killer" sunsets. We've been there 3 times, and we'll be back. We would have a family "issue" if I tried to book something else.

This was our second year at this condo and what a fabulous view from the ocean front lanai! We were not disappointed; we saw the turtles right from the lanai and the whales right out front! The condo has everything you would ever need and it is close to town. We walk everyday to the farmers market to get our fresh fruits and vegetables. We love the pool, spa and barbecue area! We have reserved this condo for our vacation next year and can't wait!!!!

Incredible View Right On Ocean

We have been to this same condo three times and have our fourth trip planned for 2013. The owner has been incredibly helpful both before and during our stays -- recommending restaurants, beaches, and drives. We keep returning because of great location, the magnificient view and sound of the surf just a few feet away from this 2nd story condo. It is a short walking distance to the Farmer's Market [open 6 days a week,] restaurants, and various shopping spots. Sitting on the lanai we see plenty of whales, spinner dolphins, and sea turtles each visit. The condo is perfect size for one couple. We "cook in" many nights [everything we seem to need is more than adequately provided] so that we can sit on the lanai, have our cocktail and dinner and watch the magnificient sunsets.

Once again our holiday took us back to the Big Island, to Kona and of course to our favourite unit at the Kona Reef, D12. Our 16th Big Island visit and third stay with Alex and Michelle. Alex and Michelle, you never cease to surprise us.... Last time the new lanai furniture, this time the new washing-machine, dryer and dish-washer. Always improving an already immaculate holiday condo. Living in Germany, the exhausting 24 trip is almost immediately forgetten, once we open the door - It's like coming home. Although we only have three weeks, our holiday experience remains with us for an entire year, until its time to come again. And come we shall. We're eagerly awaiting next December! Meanwhile, as always a big mahalo for allowing us to stay at your wonderful, romantic condo, Mahalo for your help and suggestions during and also before our stay, and mahalo for being such wonderful hosts. For all readers of our review, we are not exagerating one bit, and assure any future visitor to this condo the absolute Big Island Experience at a top condo,with spectacular views, comfortable interior and wonderful hosts.

A little piece of paradise

This was our third stay at this condo and it won't be our last. We love being right on the water and seeing all the water activites during the day, surfers, paddle boarders, spinning dolphins, and then the gorgeous sunsets from the lanai in the evening. What you see in the VRBO photo's of this condo are exactly what you get when you arrive, no surprises. The condo has always been in such clean and beautiful condition when we arrive each time. Alex, the owner always gives you a call within a day of your arrival to make sure the condo is in good condition and to ask if you have any questions about it or anything about Kailua-Kona. What a nice personal touch that is !!! This condo provides beach chairs, ice chest for day trips, and some snorkel equipment for your use. We really enjoyed the fact that this condo is so close to town that there is no need to drive. Farmers market is just a few blocks away to get all the fresh tropical fruit you could ever want. I still can't believe we bought fresh papayas for .25 a piece. A few restaruants that you shouldn't miss are Sam Choy's (for the food and view), Holuakoa Cafe (for the local grown food and lush tropical atmosphere), and Lava Java (awesome coffeee and cinnamon rolls). If you are an orchid lover you must go to Akatsuka Orchid Gardens in Volcano, Ha. (between the volcano and Hilo) it's free and something you will never forget ! Our daughter and son-in-law came over with us this trip and said the Kona Reef is the perfect location to stay, close to everything by foot. Our daughter and son-in-law went fishing on the "Sea Wife II" and caught a couple ahi. The boat was very clean the captain and crew are very environmentally conscience. Can't wait to come back again.

Second Time Around!

Laurelee and I enjoyed our first stay in this great Kona Reef condo for 1 week during May of this year. Our entire experience was so positive and thoroughly enjoyable, that, when we scheduled our next trip to Kona later the same year, we booked this same condo for a two week plus stay in September/October. Our experience this trip was even better as we were now very familiar with the Kona Reef facility, the condo and its complete array of amenities. We also had developed our favourite routines which were so easy to base out of this perfectly situated condo. We walked much more than drove to the great shopping and dining, which starts literally within a block of Kona Reef. Jogging, swimming, sunbathing on the sandy beach, enjoying the completely redone swimming pool or watching surfers catch the big breaks are available right at Kona Reef. Fabulous. To complement this perfect setting, Alex and Michele maintain an immaculate, well-appointed one bedroom condo with the perfect ocean view. It is clear that they take great pride in delivering a consistently positive, memorable experience to their clients from initial contact to checkout. We provide our unqualified endorsement of this condo and highly recommend it as a superb vacation rental.

We have found our favorite vacation condo in Kailua-Kona and are already booked for our 3rd trip. This beautiful ocean-front condo has everything you need for comfort and relaxation. Sitting on the second floor, you feel like the ocean is part of your living room. With modern amenities and stocked with everything you need, the condo is amazing. Alex and Michele have thought about your comfort. You can walk down the short road for breakfast, dinner or happy hour at nearby restaurants, or BBQ by the pool, or cook in the great kitchen. We love eating on the balcony and enjoying the view. We plan to come back every year.

We have found our favorite vacation condo in Kailua-Kona and are already booked for our 3rd trip. This beautiful ocean-front condo has everything you need for comfort and relaxation. Sitting on the second floor, you feel like the ocean is part of your living room. With modern amenities and stocked with everything you need, the condo is amazing. Alex and Michele have thought about your comfort. You can walk down the short road for breakfast, dinner or happy hour at nearby restaurants, or BBQ by the pool, or cook in the great kitchen. We love eating on the balcony and enjoying the view. We plan to come back every year.

Best ever trip to Kona!

This was our fourth trip to Kona and the best ever! We were delighted when we let ourselves into the condo to find it far exceeded our expectations - the photos don't do it justice at all. Alex and Michelle's condo was the ideal place to stay to explore Kona (being only a short stroll to the village and restaurants) and the condo itself is perfect for relaxing and watching the dolphins, surfers and boats in the bay for hours on end. Its a real home away from home with everything you could possibly wish for, from a well equiped kitchen to books on the island. Alex was extra helpful suggesting things to do on the island and answering all our questions prior to our trip with the upmost patience and made sure we settled into the condo on our first day. Kona Reef is a well maintained, clean and quiet resort with lovely communal areas and easy parking etc. I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else in future trips and will recommend this condo to friends who travel to the Big Island in the future.

We have been coming to Kona for vacations since 2006 and have been able to check out several different condo facilities in the area. This year is our first at Kona Reef. We came upon this location on the VRBO site and based on the location, description, pictures, reviews and cost, we decided to rent a condo here for one week. Throughout the process, the Alex, the owner, communicated with us proactively, in a timely and clear manner, resulting in a smooth, stress free transaction right from the reservation through to accessing the condo and finally checking out. The condo is a gem. We knew it was something special the moment we walked in. It is immaculate, modern, quiet, well maintained, well furnished and comprehensively equipped for everything from gourmet cooking to snorkeling. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and organization of the condo. Pictures ccannot convey the idyllic nature of this location. Its location is perfect for a short stroll to shop and sightsee in Kona, although it was difficult to tear ourselves away from the good sized lanai where we enjoyed watching the activities out on the blue Pacific. This is, by far, the best value we have experienced in Kona without question. The view, proximity to the ocean and privacy allowed us to fully embrace the Hawaiian experience. We will never forget our lovely time there and we will definitely rent this condo again. Thanks to Alex and Michele for making this such a positive, memorable experience.

We had a wonderful stay and the view from this Condo is spectacular! We saw porpoises and a turtle right from the patio of our condo. We also had several beautiful sunsets and everyday we saw the boats taking people out fishing, para sailing and dinner cruises. We were able to walk from the condo into town for shopping at all the stores, and farmers market. The condo area has a great pool and barbecue area. We utilized this almost every day. The condo is equiped with everything you need in the kitchen to prepare your meals. It was also great to have beach chairs there to take to the area beaches. We Love Kona and have stayed other places in Kona and this was our favorite place and are going there again this next year!!! Rick & Deb

Really enjoyed the condo, it's location, and the great sunset outside the back deck nightly. The condo had everything we needed and more. Was surprised at how well equipped the kitchen was and it was great having scuba gears, lawn chairs, etc available. The condo was quiet and close to Kona and the markets. Would definitely recommend.

Another wonderful Kailua-Kona holiday has just come to its end, and it was with great regret and sadness that we started on our long trip back home to Germany. Our 15th stay at Kona Reef and our second stay in this condo. This time we took it a little bit slower. Asthe interior is so inviting and cosy, we spent more time inside the condo and out on the lanai. The spectacular panoramic view offered unendless opportunities to follow and enjoy the ocean activities; the various boats of all sizes, the surfers and the surf and always watchful for a view of a school of dolphins passing by. And later in the day a colorful sunset. The very tidy and tasteful interior of the condo blended perfectly with the ocean below. And Alex and Michelle, thanks for your kind assistance prior to our holiday and your concern while we were guests at your home. 5 of 5 Our Best Find Ever My wife and I have stayed at various units at the Kona Reef because it has a great pool and it is the absolute best location in Kailua-Kona. This was by far the best complete experience we have had there. Starting with a phone call from alex the day we arrived to make sure everything was satisfactory to the completely remodeled unit to its spotlessness to the beautiful tropical decorations to having everything we needed for our stay down to beach chairs and snorkeling gear and last but not least that incredible view from the lanai looking at that beautiful ocean only 20 feet away. This condo was fabulous not only for the beautiful ocean view right off the lanai but for all the helpful advice from the actual owners before and during our stay. We really did not need the air conditioner with the lovely breezes passing throughout the condo with the lanai door, front door with secure screen door, and the bedroom windows open. Everything we wanted for cooking was provided, especially really good, sharp knives. The owners even provided fantastic beach bag, towels, chairs, mats, sun umbrella, and ice chest. All we had to do was bring clothing and food. The bedroom can get a little warm, but there is a ceiling fan and big floor fan available. The condo is within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, and the farmers market. I definitely will recommend this vacation property to friends and family."

A great place to watch surfers out in the water and sunsets over the water. The condo is in a great location within easy walking distance to the heart of Kona right on ali'i Drive. It was the perfect place to stay and a great value too! They have all the essentials that you need for the beach including mats, towels, chairs, umbrellas and even snorkel gear. We spent a week over Memorial Day weekend in this condo and were pleased we chose this unit. When we pulled into the parking lot we wondered what we may have gotten ourselves into (just because the building looks to be a little older) however, when we entered the unit we were astounded with the incredible view. You are so close to the water that from the kitchen area, all you can see is water, no beach, no people. We spent the majority of our time on the lania soaking up the view, watching the local surfers catch the waves in front of the condo and the spinner dolphins jumping out in the distance. The pool area is very nice too with a very clean barbeque area. Downtown Kona is only a few minute walk. Couples, in particular, can't go wrong with this condo!

Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

We have enjoyed our stays at Kona Reef condo. The condo is highly maintained and shows pride of ownership by Alex and Michele. This is truly an ocean front property with beautiful views framed by palm trees. We especially enjoy having our meals on the lanai and watching the activity on the bay. It has it all- Cruise Ships, Surfers and Stand Up Paddle Boarders, and the best Sunsets! The unit is clean, freshly painted with recently updated kitchen cabinets and appliances. We found the tile floors to be in excellant shape. The carpets are clean and fresh. The recent remodel of the bathroom and shower was well done. We really like the glass block shower and the tile floors. We have found the condo to be outfitted well. It has a late model washer and dryer; a nice feature for extended stays. There are snorkle fins, masks, beach towels, woven beach mats, folding beach chairs and picnic coolers for fun in the sun. The kitchen is very well outfitted as well. The funiture, linens, bed, TV, and DVD player all in good shape. Even the hot water heater was replaced recently. It has A/C but we have never used it, we prefer to leave the slider open and have the sea breeze do the cooling. The unit located on the second floor which is nice. The Kona Reef Complex has a number of features that we like. There is plenty of covered and outside parking . The complex has a very nice oceanfront salt water pool surrounded by glass. There are four gas grills for your use that we found to be well maintained and clean that are under cover. Next door to the complex is a waterfront park. We have found the location to be a good one. Close enough to walk to "downtown" Kona ...why bother with the car- close. Easy access to main roads. Alex and Michele are delightful to deal with, truly concerned with our stay in Kona and that their unit meets your approval. Their place has a nice, well taken care of feel to it. We have enjoyed staying there in the past and are planning another extended stay in future. Kindest Regards, Bob

I could go on and on about this wonderful condo, first the Kona Reef for those that don't know is a nice complex perched right on the ocean, the Duncan's unit is just a few feet from the surf and has a straightaway unobstructed view of the ocean. Whales and dolphins are regular sightings everyday and lots of turtles. The Kona Reef's location is also ideal as its a short walk to the great farmers markets, the village and restaurants, walkability factor is excellent! The pool at the Reef is great and never seems crowded, barbecues are outstanding, always clean and tell me what is wrong with cooking that ribeye with a full ocean view right in front of you? The condo itself is in peak condition, granite counters in the kitchen, nice furniture and most importantly great lanai furniture. The condo is clean as a whistle, has wifi, Alex Duncan the owner is great in communicating with and addresses questions quickly. To give you an idea of how nice the water in front of the Kona Reef is, there is a submarine cruise you can take from Kona, guess where the sub goes to on its cruise? Right out in the waters in front of Kona Reef, probably explains the frequent whale and dolphin sightings. Lots of great restaurants but stay away from the chains, they are ok but you can get that anywhere. Eat at some of the local independent places, the food is best. For a great lunch or dinner on the run don't miss the Kona Mixed Plate, we also like Jamison's on the water a little south of the condo.

This is the nicest condo we have stayed in on the Big Island. Not only is it right on the water, it is so close to town. You can walk to town all the the time, it's that close. Very clean and furnished very confortablely. You will spend most of your time on the lanai watching all the activies in the bay. Alex was very helpful in his suggestions and answering our questions. 19Aug – 16 Sep 09, WOW, Clean, well maintained and stocked, including binoculars for viewing dolphin pods traveling just offshore. Read a book from the private library while relaxing on the lanai and listening to the ocean right in front of you. Alex and Michelle provide the perfect setting for your Kona vacation. No need to rent mask, snorkel, and fins, they are right in the condo with sand chairs and beach towels. Did I mention the view? The sun sets on the ocean right in front of you. We stayed in D-12 early June. As others said Alex helpfully stays in touch, either by phone or email (our usual way to talk). We have not stayed in other condos, have been regulars at Big island hotels. But this unit is really nice. View is straight out to the surfers and north toward town. The surf was up that week and there's a good surf break right there so if you enjoy watching surfers as we do this is as good as it gets. Many of them are quite skilled. Summer has fewer cruise ships as they go to the north, but the "Pride of America" was there, a US based cruise company. There's always activity off the lanai, para sailing, tour boats, submarine going up and down. When the cruise ship is there these activities go into overdrive, so always something to see offshore. The unit is on the 2nd floor which is a good level. Up from the ground so good privacy and view, but low enough to see what's going on right there. One tip if you have a car is to use the parking structure for shade rather than the outside spaces. We don't plan to stay in hotels anymore and hope to visit again soon.

Alex and Michele's condo offered everything that we were looking for in our first stay in beautiful Kona, Hawaii. The balcony offers a gorgeous view of the ocean and a the soothing sound of the waves. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to make a meal and then some. Air conditioning, Wi-fi and all advertised appliances are new and in working order. The furniture is tasteful and reflects the laid back Hawaiian attitude. The condo itself is within walking distance of Downtown Kona and is right next to a nice sandy beach. Alex was extremely helpful with a wealth of information regarding the surroundings and his genuine interest in our quality of stay helped make this vacation memorable. We did some extensive searching before choosing this condo and after staying there for 8 days I can honestly say we made the right choice. Mohalo Alex and Michele!

Thank you for providing the perfect spot for our April 2009 Hawaiian vacation. The view from your Condo just soothes the soul! We have done the sight seeing of the big Island on previous trips so this time we spent a lot of time just relaxing by the pool or sunning in front of the surf. Both were beautiful. We were delighted with your recent updates to the condo and were very content with staying there and viewing the various blues of the ocean from the lanai. Our first time to Kona and Kona Reef Condo D-12. What a fabulous experience to say the least. It was very well appointed and Alex and Michelle have done everything to make it not only their own property but make everyone welcome as well. Everything was there down to the last snorkel. It is right on the water and a short walk to the downtown area. We Loved It!!!!! We are making plans to go back in March 2010 in the Kona Reef Condo D-12.
