  View was great! Very clean and we enjoyed the air conditioning. The accommodations were good except I felt a little misleading where the bedrooms were concerned. It's advertised as 4 bedrooms but I felt there were 3 with a sitting room with a pull-out couch. We made it work but privacy could have been an issue. I highly reccommend this property. The owner was very accommodating, as we made our plans. The wineries we visited had great food and the Geneva on the Lake strip was a flash back to the past. We ate at a restaurant called Alassandro's in Ashtabula that was very good. The amount of steps could have been mentioned as we had 2 toddlers and an 86 year old man with us.

  This was our 4th year here at Shipwatch Cottages. Our stay at Caledonia works best for our family of adults, kids and furry friends. We've always had pleasant "vacation neighbors" many of them have been coming here for years also. No need to travel for the 4th of July, just sit on the beach with a bon fire and watch the fireworks. View from the cottages is great - lake and beach everywhere you look. Any problems or questions about the cottages - we can call Bob and he can be here within 10 minutes.Can't beat that for service. Community park, ice cream shop as well as a few restaurants within walking distance. Geneva State Park only short drive away - nice beach area, bike trail and marina. Grocery stores, shopping areas within 10 minute drive. We love this place!

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car.

  My mother and I stayed three nights in September 2011. The house was quite large for just two of us but it was a wonderful stay. The house was clean & the photos were accurate. The view of the lake from the deck & living room was majestic. Over one weekend we witnessed several moods of Lake Erie. We arrived when the aftermass of an East Coast hurricane was passing through the area. The lake was rough and the air was windy & rainy. The next day we saw gray skies mixed with sunshine while the water became calmer. The morning we left to go home the sun was shining bright amongst the blue sky and the water looked smooth as glass. The vacation house was nice and the owner pleasant. We had our dog with us who also had a very nice time. The park is easy walking distance from the house. We found good restaurants in the area and drove out to Geneva to visit a winery. There is alot to see and do in this area of NE Ohio. We expect to return to this area soon as we love living on the waterfront.

  Owner response: We are so glad you came. One of the unique things about Lake Erie is how fast it can change. Watching a storm front come in is a spectacular site to behold. The lake can look like a sheet of glass and within moments it is like the ocean. We hope you'll come back soon!
