Stay in the very heart of Kauai. Our family owned upcountry cottage offers cool, balmy breezes, tropical songbirds, and the sweet fragrances of lush surrounding gardens. There is also an elegant full kitchen, beautiful slate floors and cedarwood trim throughout. Relax and unwind in the built-in whirlpool soaking tub while you enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the tropical forest. You’ll know you’re in Hawaii when you take your shower outside in nature amidst the gardens, warm air and beautiful views. Washer and dryer available for your convenience.

We have a wonderful garden with fresh vegetables and herbs, and we like to share. We also have a small flock of chickens that supply us with eggs daily. Ask us to show you where all the herbs are planted, so that you can help yourself. If you like, we can have eggs and fresh veggies waiting for you in the cottage.

You can walk out the door to a trailhead that takes you to Kauai’s healing green interior. This two hour hike with its verdant vistas ends at the Keahua Forestry Arboretum - a park with acres of both native and introduced tree species including groves of painted gum trees, scattered ohia lehua and dense tangles of hibiscus. Another beautiful walk just three minutes drive from your door is up the Sleeping Giant. This hike takes you around and up the Giant and from the top are breathtaking views of Kauai’s towns, inland jungles, mountains and surrounding ocean.

We have two single kayaks available on site. You can take them up the Wailua River past an ancient Hawaiian village, through mango groves and up to beautiful, mystical waterfalls.

The cottage is private and secluded, situated by itself amongst gardens and the jungle. But its location is central to the island whether you go north to Hanalei or south to Poipu. You can drive 8 to 10 minutes down the road to treat yourself to a delicious breakfast in Kapaa, enjoy pristine white sandy beaches, or spend a day of shopping at the Coconut Plantation Shopping Center. Then, leave the crowds behind and return to your love nest, out in the cool and rolling hills behind Kapaa.

Perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries, vow renewals, or any special occasions for two, this magical, romantic getaway will entice you and your loved one to honeymoon - no matter how long you have been in love!

We enjoyed our stay at the Tea Cottage and hated to leave. The cottage is located in the Olohena Highlands which apparently is high enough above sea level so that it was cool and breezy our entire stay. We had rain at some point every day, but it was not the kind of rain that slowed us down. It was very refreshing. We used their kayaks and explored the Wailua River up to the Fern Grotto and Secret Falls (in the rain), then spent a day stand-up paddling the Hanalei River and Hanalei Bay (in the rain) and hiked the Kalalau Trail (we wished there had been more rain! It was a little hot at times). The owner's description is accurate, and we offer the following additional comments: - The bed is comfortable. - They provided a lot of water toys - kayaks, beach chairs, life vests, noodles, coolers of various types, beach towels - The refrigerator and freezer are small and you need to keep all your food in there to minimize ants, so we suggest using their coolers for storage of non perishables. We would have cooked more if we had thought of that at the time. - It was breezy and cool our entire stay. - The cottage is small but has a very clever floor plan, with separate areas for shower, toilet and bath tub so both of us could get ready at the same time. - It is easy to find, even in the dark Kauai night, because of a very obvious landmark just before the driveway - Roosters crow almost constantly from about 3:30 am to just after sunrise (this was true everywhere we went on the island) so bring good earplugs because you will want to sleep with the windows open - The cottage has great screens and we had no problems with mosquitos, even in the outdoor shower. - Grocery stores (Safeway and Food Land) are very nearby. - There really weren't any fruits or vegetables in the garden when we were there. Some herbs. - Some vrbo kitchens have more condiments than this one. - It was a little dark inside even during the day, even with the lights on. - The cottage has a jungle/treehouse feel. There is a lot of vegetation, which obscures a view of nearby mountains, etc. - We loved it here and were sad to leave for the sunny west side of the island.

Our visit to the stunningly beautiful island of Kauai was enhanced by our stay at this lovely property. We arrived late at night and when we awoke to the view from our bedroom window, we were just astounded! A lush and verdant landscape available for us to view from a tasteful and comfortable interior. The outdoor shower and tub further enhanced our ability to enjoy the wonder of our surroundings. The property was spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and we loved the location for all of our jaunts around the island. Would return in a heartbeat!

My partner and I stayed here during our first trip to Kaua'i in January 2011. The cottage is cute, cozy, and quaint. It was perfect for us because it had a kitchen, which was perfect for us, since we are vegan and cook all of our meals. The outdoor shower and tub were very nice as well. A perfect central location if you want to explore the entire island! We would definitely stay here again.

Thanks for a great experience and for giving us the skinny on living in Kauai. Eric now wants to grow his own pineapple back in NJ! To all those who follow, check out the local farmers markets and enjoy all the island has to offer.

We arrived in the dark after our big San Diego wedding and hours of travel. We fell asleep in the cozy bed and woke up to find the sky getting lighter through the trees and birds singing! We explored all the nooks and crannies and discovered yummy coffee, spicy soap and so many thoughtful treats to add to our magical Kauai honeymoon! Thank you!

We stayed here on the last leg of our honeymoon in February, 2006. A wonderful relaxing spot. Even with the biggest rain storm in 20 years we had a blast!!The outdoor shower was great & the tub very nice. We are way overdue for adding our comments. Would go back in a minute. Looks like you have added some features, BBQ, etc that make it even better than it was. We will be back. Gary & Ann

From the moment we pulled into the front driveway, we knew we were very lucky to find the Tea Garden Cottage. After long, sun-filled days on gorgeous Kauai beaches, this Cottage calls you home and slows you down. We loved every minute of it (especially the tub!). Thank you for building this tropical gem and sharing it with those of us who are fated to find it. Mahalo!

What a beautiful place to spend our honeymoon! We were very impressed with the entire Cottage. Our favorite was the outdoor jaccuzzi with candles. It was the best place we stayed on our entire visit in Hawaii. Thank you for making us feel welcome with your kindness and hospitality. Mahalo!
