Absolutely delightful experience. The area is so convenient to downtown Denver and the Cherry Creek recreation trail. Lots of great restaurants and shops in the area. The unit is a delight, very roomy and nicely decorated. The mattress is worth the price of admission! Owners are wonderful and very responsive to any request. Going to put this one on speed dial:-)

I had the best time at Highland Retreat in LoHi. I moved to Denver and needed to land for a month, so I rented this cute, cozy cottage that felt like home in the middle of one of the hottest neighborhoods in Denver! What a surprise! So fun to walk to tons of cafes and bars but still be on a very quiet street in a safe spot with all the amenities. Commons Park, Platte River and Downtown Denver are just over the pedi bridge. So close. I loved the area so much that I found my own house in the hood and am now living here! The apartment is very pretty, nice décor, with plenty of comfy furniture and a king sized bed. My kitties came with and were very happy. Kara and Clay are two of the nicest people. So helpful and accommodating. Absolutely all my needs were met. I would recommend this great spot to anyone who wants a cozy retreat in the heart of Denver, with lots to do nearby. Very bike friendly too! I had blast. Thanks Kara and Clay! Best to you...
Owner response:Thanks, Laur. You have been a really nice guest to have. So glad we met! Now that you live in the neighborhood, we still get to see you:) Looking forward to bike rides through the neighborhood. Definitely want a cool cruiser like yours someday! Kara

Terrific Home Base!

My husband and I were in town visiting family (with a newborn in the house it would have been too disruptive to stay there!) and this apartment was terrific as a home base. We have been to Denver more times than we can count but we had a great time wandering around a new neighborhood. There is a wireless connection and a little office nook, which made restaurant research on my laptop that much easier. The bathroom is lovely, but the sleeping area is sublime: because the apartment is in the basement there isn't much light to intrude on dozing eyes (and since most people are out during the day the lack of a window view doesn't make much difference). We generally don't sleep past seven at home; a few times here we slept past nine. The apartment was spotless and looks to have been renovated sometime in the last few years. We dragged our family (plus baby!) over to the apartment to check it out and have recommended it to a number of people in the few days we've been home. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
Owner response:Thank you for your comments! Yes, the apartment is newly remodeled. It does have a common area washer and dryer for extended stays. While you were visiting, we had a lot of back yard construction going on. It is in the process of being re-landscaped and will be a very beautiful shared back yard with bbq grill! Thanks for staying with us~until next time:) Kara

We enjoyed our stay at the "highland retreat" very much. We had everything we needed with plenty of room for all of us--4 adults and two children. But we had others over as well and the extra table extensions and chairs worked out great as we had 10 for dinner on Thursday evening. We also liked the location with the proximity to downtown and easy access to other parts of Denver. My two granddaughters especially liked walking to "Little Man Ice Cream" and the nearby park. If we are in Denver again and need somewhere to stay, we definitely will check on your place.
Owner response:Thank You! I'm really happy you and your family had a good time in the LoHi neighborhood!

I could not have stayed at a better place while I was spending a week in Denver for a class. The basement apartment is very nicely furnished with a comfortable back yard and nice neighbors. The neighborhood is full of friendly, interesting people and just a short enjoyable walk to lower downtown. Some of the best food in the city is just blocks away and when you stay here you must go to the "Little Man" ice cream shop down the block, you won't regret it. I hope this place is available the next time I visit Denver because I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

An elegant home for the whole family to enjoy. Close to the mountains along with other tourist destinations no more than twenty minutes away. A spacious home with a charming backyard for pets, with large bathroom upstairs and more than enough room in the bedrooms. Extremely clean and with an ingenious artful decor. Excellent price for what you get. Stayed with my family and we more than enjoyed out trip. We will definitely stay here again. An excellent stay.

I couldn't believe the roominess of the Highland Retreat...the pictures don't even do it justice. My family and I had a great time at the house and it's sooo close to all the great places in Denver. Us small-town folk had no problem driving to Elitch Gardens...we also didn't realize how close we were to Mile High Stadium and Coors Field...not to mention the Pepsi Center!! Wow! The neighborhood was great. People were out walking their animals, bbq-ing, and were very friendly. There are a few incredible restaurants we tried out near by as well. The Gallop Cafe for breakfast on 32nd & Zuni was FABULOUS!! We couldn't believe how great the food was!

Great neighborhood, restaurants and coffee shops all around. Just a couple of blocks to the Highland Bridge. A great location, close to downtown. A few of us met for a business convention and rented the basement in addition to the upstairs. It was well worth the value, compared to hotels...we saved $! We all had plenty of separate space and shared a kitchen when we ate in. The home was cozy, nicely decorated and really unique. I will definitely stay again and refer as a great place to stay while in Denver! Kyle from Chicago
