  Had a great time!!! We have a big family and there was plenty of room. The crab traps were fabulous. We were able to have a crab boil on the second day. Bayview was a pefect place to say because of the beach access and the peace and quietness of the Bay. Very Clean! Looking foward to going back! GREAT NEIGHBORS!!!

  This is our second year staying at Bayview and again we couldn't have asked for anything better. We had a family gathering including children and everyone had a great time. Everything in the listing and photos was accurate and some things seem to have been updated or improved upon. The enormous kitchen has just about anything you could need, the only thing lacking for a large group would be some larger diameter frying pans. We donated one to the property, however if you are coming with a larger group you may want to bring an additional one. The property does not have a dishwasher, however knowing that we brought and used plastic/paper plates and utensils whenever possible which was easier and allowed us more time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. As usual the property was clean and maintained. This property really is the best of both worlds as you are just a few blocks from the beach (you can walk or drive) and enjoy time on the private lighted fishing and crabbing pier just steps out back. We never had much success fishing off the pier, however we caught so many blue crabs it was ridiculous! The property is very child friendly, the bunk room has a few toys and having a DVD player in the living area, we also brought children's movies. Both deck areas are gated to keep little ones or pets from wandering off. The lack of excess decor makes it nice if little children are a part of the group since you don't have to worry about them breaking or damaging them. If you are looking for a meal out while there, we greatly enjoyed The Red Snapper Inn just up the Blue Water Hwy which had good service, reasonable prices, and great portion sizes. As others have suggested, bottled water is the way to go in Surfside, the water is safe to drink, but just doesn't taste very good. Our group however had no issues with the water pressure, and there were 12 of us. The area under the house is a great gathering place for mingling and chatting either out of the sun during the day or in the evenings to catch a breeze...just don't forget the bug spray as mosquitos can abound. Our recent stay in June they were not too bad, but the last time we stayed was in early August and they were out in greater numbers. Karen is very helpful and accomodating, as well as timely with the post departure review of the property and return of deposits. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Bayview!

  We truly enjoyed our stay at Bayview in June. We have been renting houses on the Gulf Coast for 15 years, from Galveston to Corpus, but we have fallen in love with Surfside. Lots of restaurants to choose from, from great burgers to awesome seafood. The house was the perfect size for my family and exactly as described, roomy and comfortable. There were two refrigerators and one had stopped working before we arrived. They were prompt in bringing a brand new refrigerator. My husband, son, Grandson and his friend enjoyed wetting a hook on the private pier, although the fish were scarce. My husband loved having the locked storage downstairs for his fishing equipment. He also commented that it was a very comfortable house, and how nice it was to find a place that didn't have a lot of 'knick-knacks' sitting around. It was nice not having to constantly say "don't touch" to the little ones! The location is perfect, the Bay right out back and the Gulf just a short distance away. I enjoyed watching the birds, and the kids loved the beach. Loved the outdoor shower! The only thing I would recommend improving would be the water system. Be sure to bring plenty of bottled water for coffee, etc. The water pressure was a little 'iffy' at times, but not so bad that we wouldn't want to stay again. Looking forward to an 'All Girl's Getaway' at Bayview in the future!

  Owner response: Thanks, Becky We are glad you enjoyed our house. Yes, I agree -- you definitely need bottle water in Surfside. Most (if not all) of the houses are on well water and with the water table so shallow, it's not something you want to drink if you don't have to. Water pressure is iffy also due to the wells and the sediments, but we have made adjustments to our filtration system to improve the water pressure issues.

  My family, six adults and 4 grandchildren had a great time at Bayview. Very clean house, comfortable beds. Everything you needed was available. The kids loved the dock where they were able to crab and fish. Thank you David and Karen for the use of the crab traps. I could not pull Mom from the fishing dock. Kids collected shells on the beach and played in the surf.. Cool evenings under the house, beautiful sunsets. Friendly neighbors. Everyone wants to come back again.

  Just had to write about our great time at your place. This is the second summer our two families have stayed at Bayview. We love the fishing and swimming as well as the close proximity to nearby attractions in Galveston. The open kitchen made it easy to prepare meals for 4 adults and 5 kids. The views and breezes keep us coming back. We'll be contacting you early next year to book the third visit!

  I have stayed at Bayview a number of times and keep coming back, so that should tell you something. I like it so much that we had Thanksgiving there and everyone had so much fun that they want to do it again. The accomodations are great; everything that you could need is there. The beach is so close that you don't have to pack up anything and the fishing is great. I highly recommend Bayview to anyone looking for someplace to get away to, relax a little and enjoy life!

  We have been renting homes in the Surfside area for 25 years and really enjoyed our week at Bayview. The proximity to the beach was just right, the boat ramp just a few yards from the house was great for our boat and allowed us quiok access to the Intracoastal canal. We caught approx. 50 crabs in our crab traps right on the pier at the house. We plan to come back.

  Stayed here in Sept 2007, and LOVED the place. We have rented houses on the beach side several times previously, and the bay side was GREAT. The house was clean with large rooms and good beds. The deck was wonderful. Loved the pier with the fishing and crabbing. The birds were the best! Always figured we'd come back. Hope the house survived the storm and that Surfside recovers fast.
