The Lake Street Cottage- Walk to Town / Ski Schweitzer!
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Sandpoint
We visited Sandpoint and were instantly captivated by its sophisticated simplicity. It is a step back in time to a simpler America but has all of the modern amenities travelers love….GREAT restaurants, hip wine bars, live entertainment and lots of outdoor activities in the midst of beautiful scenery… a winning combination for a relaxing and exciting vacation experience.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love that our home is so conveniently located close to town. When we get there we park the car and bike or walk EVERYWHERE! We love to sit on the front porch with a cool drink and some good friends or BBQ in the backyard with the whole family. Our guests tell us over and over again that the most memorable part of their vacation was the time they spent reconnecting with their family. For us that makes all of our hard work worth it!
Owner's Map of Sandpoint
We are empty nesters happily living in Northern California, still working full time but dreaming about semi-retirement with the option of spending our summers in Sandpoint.

My wife and I traveled to Sandpoint to ski at the beautiful Schweitzer resort - and Paula really came through for us. The home we were originally going to stay at had a leaking roof and although we contacted Paula late that evening - she rented to us at the last minute and saved our trip - THANK YOU!! Even more - I left a jacket in the house as we rushed home (it is a very sentimental piece of clothing since I got it in Geneva and wore it hiking through the Swiss Alps last summer). Paula and her cleaning team mailed it back! That's stand up service. THANK YOU!! Regarding the home - it is a great little place easily within walking distance of downtown and several places to shop and eat. The corner location is great. Things were clean (including the dishes in the cupboard) and the internet/cable worked great. We usually stay at VRBO properties when we travel - and this home had the touches and value that vault high on our list. Thanks again.

Sandpoint is an awesome vacation town.........My family and I were lucky enough to find this darling vacation home so close to downtown. It was supplied with all cooking needs. Cooking in or dinning out you have it all. It's a short walk to the beautiful beach or downtown for all the wonderful shopping along with so much to see. The house is very clean and well kept. Ideal for our family. We loved it........

We took our family vacation in Sandpoint, where we had lived several years ago, we wanted to share this wonderful place with our children. This home is in a great location, my son wanted to bike everywhere! There was plenty of room inside and out...we even had room to park the boat! It's very nicely decorated, spacious upstairs, lots of sunlight and VERY clean. Thank you to the Davys we had a fantastic time! S, L, J, M

My girlfriends and I loved this little home! We loved the upstairs loft. The bathroom was awesome, with a very cool tiled shower!! The beds were comy, the furniture too, & we had everything we needed. It was so close to town we walked everywhere! The back yard was great because we had our little jack russell terrier that could run around and play and we didn't have to worry about him running off. We enjoyed the back yard alot! We rode the mountain bikes too! What a bonus! It was just such a cozy place to stay and we will definately be back next year! Thank you for sharing your home with us! We totally loved it!

We couldn't have been more delighted upon finding this sweet vacation rental in Sandpoint. First and foremost it was very clean and nicely decorated. It was roomy enough for eight adults and had all the extras...two televisions, two roomy bathrooms with lots of towels, wonderfully comfy beds and a great kitchen with plenty of space to create a wedding cake. The proximity to downtown and the lake was just a few short blocks away. We didn't have time to take a bike ride but they were available for our use. In addition, the price was the absolute best and made our trip to a nephew's wedding so reasonable. Thank you to the Davy's for sharing your home. Sue Jeffries

We found the Lake Street House charming, quiet, and convenient to shopping and walking. It was very relaxing to stay in this neighborhood on the south side of town - friendly people, lovely yards and happy children. We would definitely like to stay here again

This rental in Sandpoint is a treasure. The owners have went out of their way to make it a true Vacation Rental. The decor is beautiful (it felt as though we had a professional decorator come and decorate to our preferences). There are many upgrades made for comfort but the charm remains. The kitchen was well stocked with all utensils needed. There was plenty of bedding and toweling. The bicycles are an added pleasure. The Sandpoint community stop for bikers and walkers to cross the streets. This cottage is convenient to most everything in town. There were many games and a fantastic movie library for all ages. I only wish I had time to visit more.

We love this home so much we keep coming back. We have vacationed in Sandpoint for 3 summers and this is the only place we want to stay. This year we were very impressed with the upstairs bathroom renovation. We also love the location of the home, near downtown, the public beach and marina and some great restaurants. This home comfortably fits our growing family of 5 as well as the guests who visit us. The owners have added special touches like bicycles for guests to use and rocking chairs on the porches and each year there are new additions. The home is beautifully decorated and kept. A relaxing home away from home.

Comment Text: The Lake Street home was a wonderful home away from home. My husband was born in Northern Idaho and we plan to retire in the area in the very near future. The home is decorated so nicely and makes the experience even more comfortable. Even though it was only the three of us, it has so much room for more. But we were glad to have it all to ourselves. It snowed off & on almost the whole time we were there. (March'08) But, for us Southern Californians it was a treat. Comfortable beds, with soft fluffy bedding, and bathrooms towels like the best hotels. I can't think of anything it was missing. It even had candles which are my favorite nightly winter treat. Paula, the owner was always prompt when answering any of my questions before our visit. I can't wait to return and experience the new upstairs bathroom remodel.

What a great find; only 2 blocks away from family living in Sandpoint, and 20 minutes to the Mt. Schweitzer shuttle. We had a fabulous family reunion ski trip and look forward to returning in the summer. Staying in a house instead of a hotel room makes all the difference, and next time I know not to pack books, games, or movies, as the house is well stocked.
