Flying High is a gorgeous new luxury vacation home located on a 1.24 acre lot with sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico. Take the 250-step walk to the beach down a direct maintained walkway without crossing any roads, and step out onto a very wide and very quiet beach.

Flying High has four Master Bedrooms plus a private Den which can be used as a second living area for the kids or as a fifth bedroom using the sleeper sofa. Past visitors consistently remark that the Owners have "thought of everything - remembered every little detail."

You will believe it when you see the amazingly stocked kitchen, find the separate stereo/CD system for the pool including the in-ground poolside speakers, and even the dimmers throughout the house to give it just the right ambience in the evenings. And if you can't leave the office behind, there is a computer with FREE high-speed internet access including wireless if you choose to bring your own laptop. The top floor of the house includes the open living/dining/kitchen area all under a vaulted tongue-in-groove ceiling and surrounded by views.

The gourmet kitchen features custom cherry cabinets, Silestone countertops and stainless appliances including double ovens for the serious cooks. The huge island contains the gas cooktop and a raised breakfast bar with barstools for those who like to keep the cooks company.

You are sure to remember the decks at Flying High. Comprising over 1000 square feet of covered and sun decks, you will have plenty of room for large groups as well as quiet areas for a little downtime. NEW - ENJOY THE NEW HAMMOCK on the covered deck!

Back inside, you will find over-sized bedrooms with their own bathrooms including one with a large jacuzzi tub and another with a large double shower. All have cherry cabinetry and custom tile.

The oversized 15x32-foot pool with waterfall will be a hit with kids and adults alike. Bring your favorite CD's for the CD-changer at the pool, or chose from the 50 plus already provided by the owners. You will also find a pool-level wet bar with mini-fridge and a second blender. The pool can be heated during cooler months for $200/week.

Speaking of kids...Flying High is equipped with a crib and a high chair. The den is a great second, separate living area complete with a video library with children's movies and a Sony Playstation 2.

The St. George Plantation is a private gated community including two tennis courts, a community pool, a bike path, a private air strip and incredible fishing at "The Cut". Flying High is located directly on the bike path.

Year Purchased: 2003

We are a family of 4 from Atlanta, GA. We rented on St. George for many years and saved and saved and finally bought our lot in The Plantation in Spring 2001. We spent the next year or so working with an architect and custom designed the house from the ground up. Our architect was the Chair of the Plantation Architecture Committee at the time, so he was able to get us the best placement on the lot with the best views. Then we selected a fantastic builder and got to work! We visited regularly during construction, made a lot of tweaks and picked out every last thing in the house. We feel we ended up with such a great home. We know you'll love it too! The house was completed 8 weeks after our first child was born, and we spent his 9th and 10th week moving furniture into the house and getting it ready for the rental market. Our second child was born 16 months later, and those boys, now 5 and 6, absolutely beg to go to 'the beach house' all the time. It is a great place for kids, and we have such amazing family memories at the house already. Why the Owner Chose Plantation

St. George Island is an amazing 'uncommon' destination. It is quiet - free of high rises, chain restaurants or any long lines. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and you can walk a mile or two on the beach and often not see another person. The island is 5.5 hours from Atlanta where we live, and your blood pressure is sure to drop 20 points as you cross over the 4 mile bridge from the mainland to the island. And The Plantation is amazing and completely different than the main part of the island. It is more vegetated, the homes have much more privacy, and the beaches are wider and not crowded at all.

The Unique Benefits of this House

So much room and privacy - the lot itself is 1.24 acres. We usually go to the beach in the morning - play in the waves, build sandcastles, fly kites, take long walks. Then we head back to the house, hose off the kids and have lunch by the pool. Then its an afternoon of poolside fun with the waterfall, the in-ground sound system, and the pool-level mini bar chock full of tasty refreshments. We spend evenings cooking great healthy dinners full of fresh seafood caught that day or heading out to one of our many favorite local restaurants. We love to go down to "The Cut" at sunset and watch for dolphins swimming through the channel, and have taken many holiday card pictures while we're there! Our kids are old enough now that we can all ride our bikes into downtown St. George (3.5 miles one way) - pickup something at the market, stop at the playground by the lighthouse, or head the other way and ride down to "The Cut". We almost always have additional family or friends with us, but we also love the times when it is just the 4 of us as well.
