Escape to the fresh air of the country and enjoy a cozy cottage nestled on the shore of a lovely private lake. Watch the sunrise from your living room window and enjoy the sights and sounds of the many birds who call this farm home. It is a perfect place for birding as we do all we can to encourage and protect the birds in our area.
Fish, hike, birdwatch, hunt for arrowheads and take nature walks to explore the surrounding 170 acres or just kick back. There are numerous things to do in the area as well..... antiques in Smithville, Rocky Mountain bike ranch is a short 5 minute drive away, Buescher and Bastrop State parks are nearby and there are 3 golf courses in the immediate area.
A delicious deluxe continental breakfast consisting of home baked pastries or muffins, fruit (in season) from our organic orchards, and yogurt eaten with our own Wild Mountain Pecan Granola will give you a wonderful start for your day.
Indian Hills Farm was started 20 years ago and is in a beautiful part of Texas with two creeks, rolling hills and a gorgeous lake. It produces organic vegetables, fruit and grass fed beef as it is a working cattle ranch. Lakeside Gardens was added as a Bed and Breakfast and is a way for us to share the beauty and uniqueness of this property.
Fishing is a favorite pastime here. Just bring your fly rod and fish for trophy bass, catfish, red ear and bluegills. Fishing is included in your Bed and Breakfast reservation. To ensure that all our guests have a great time fishing we have made it a catch and release lake so there are plenty of fish for everyone to enjoy. A boat and battery are available for rental or you may bring your own canoe or float tube.

Great place, peaceful, quite, relaxing. Breakfasts are great..homemade, delicious goodies. Karen and her husband are wonderful people, helpful and easy to deal with. Our two boys ages 15 and 11 also enjoyed this wonderful lakeside retreat. Accomodations are very comfortable, no one staying nearby to bother you, being on a farm felt calming. Good place to destress and enjoy the fresh air!
Recommended for:Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

First of all, making reservation with Karen (the owner) was absolutely smooth. She's quick to reply my inquiries and very easy to deal with. Secondly, the cottage is everything described on the ad but better. It was so private and lovely. We finally could enjoy the chirping of birds and the sound of the nature. Thirdly, the fishing was a big hit. My husband loves fishing and had a good time there. I caught my very first fish of my life--a baby blue gill. It was awesome. Hersh let us use his boat and we took a late night boat ride when our baby's asleep. It was fun. Fourth, Karen's breakfast was scrumptious. Unlike most B & B, she stocked up the fridge and delivered the food the night before, so you could sleep in whenever you want and still wake up to yummy hot breakfast. Fifth, upon Karen's recommendation, we went to Murphy's for dinner and it was wonderful. Quality steak and seafood at reasonable price. We were enveloped by big time real Texans from the surrounding farms. We enjoyed very much blending in with the locals. In conclusion, we highly recommend this B & B to everyone and hope that you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

This was our second stay and my wife and I had great time once again. The fishing is great and the breakfast is top notch. If you are looking for a laid back weekend, this is the place.

This was a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. The cottage was beautiful and well equiped with all of the amenaties. Sitting near the private lake it was perfect for coffee in the mornings and nice quiet evenings. Our Thanks to Hersch and Karen for the tour of the farm, Khatin was fascinated by the cattle, and for the excellent breakfasts. Next time I will bring my fishing pole. We had a great time on vacation with our kids. The King Solomon house with it's secluded 5 acres was wonderful. Our kids could go out and explore without worry, unlike in the city. Enjoying the adjacent acreage with creeks, ponds, and the lake made it especially fun. We all caught huge fish in the private lake and wore ourselves out hiking. To end our days we sat on the porch swing to watch the sun go down and the starry night appear. Karen, Hersh, and Lou were so kind and hospitable -a rare find. The food was fantastic and could not be beat. We will go back again and again!

I was looking for a nice private lake to go fishing, and found a picturesque retreat that I envision going to for years to come. Karen and Hersh were great hosts that went above and beyond to make our stay at Lakeside Gardens the best possible. My fishing buddy and I had a blast fishing the lake and I recorded my personal best largemouth Bass (9lbs) and my buddy caught his personal best catfish (13lbs). We caught a lot of fish and cannot wait to go back. Bring lots of night crawlers. We also enjoyed the rolling pastures and beautiful scenery. We thought it was a very good value for the rate.
