A wonderful respite from reality. The house has everything you would need and was spotless. Nockamixon Park was a quick drive away but the back of the cottage was its own park, teemiing with deer and other animals. Wilco and Kathy are wonderful caretakers and I highly recommend the cottage for a quiet and private getaway.

12/28/09 - 1/4/10: We had a perfect vacation! The cottage is just as described, very charming and very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped with all that you may need and the fireplace in the family room is wonderful. The location is terrific, very near shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in Haycock over Christmas in 2009; it was near Philly and close enough to our family in NJ. We will definately stay again, the house was very comfortable for the 5 of us, the fireplace was wonderful and the highspeed internet was a nice surprise. The cottage is tucked away in the woods with plentiful wildlife and a beautiful forest behind. The beds were comfortable and there was plentiful towels, blankets and throws for warming up by the fire. We love it! The only drawback was the electric stove but that was only a small inconvienence. The cottage comes with board games, puzzles, and sat TV! It's got everything, a great find

We stayed over on Labor Day weekend of 2009. What a pristine and cozy cottage nestled in its gorgeous location next to two parks. We were a party of 5 adults and a 4-year old and an infant of 6 months. The cottage was perfect for us. The electrical outlets were child-proofed and there were children's games to keep my active 4-year old entertained (a bonus!). The outside is as neat and tidy as the inside, the lawn and backyard facing a park is beautifully appointed. We will definitely stay if we are in the north-Philly area again! Very highly recommended to all families.

My family and I greatly enjoyed our stay at your lovely home. Sometimes vacations can be difficult with children in tow so it helps to have a "home away from home" to return to after a day's worth of adventures. Having your home to return to after spending the day at Sesame Place was a godsend. It was such a relaxing, cozy place. My sister loved what she referred to as the "reading room" where she just settled into the comfy chair and read her books. And my daughter found her new favorite game with "Don't Spill the Beans", which we played many times in the game room. Thanks again for your warm hospitality. We are certainly considering staying at your residence again in a few years when we return to PA to visit Hershey!

My son got married at Font Hill in July and I decided to rent a house for a week for my family. We were pleasantly surprised how perfect the house was for our needs. It was comfortable, affordable and had many amenities that were very convenient to all of us. We fond Wilco and Kathy to be hospitable hosts and were very accommodating to our plans. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get away and enjoy the quiet countryside and enjoy a relaxing vacation.

I can't say enough about this property. The home owner have the house stocked with all the basic you would need! It was absolutley immaculate, homey & a real retreat! Once the kids were tucked into bed after a long hard day at sesame place we (mom & dad) got to unwind & relax. Much better that beingn stuck in a hotel!! So worth the drive to the park. So if you have your doubts about renting, forget them because you wil not regret it!!

This cottage is PERFECT if you need some quiet time in the country. It is in a great location and has everything that you could ever need. It feels like your home - clean and comfortable. OR you could use the cottage for what we did. We got married in Bucks County and needed a place for two nights. The cottage gave me and my girls a place to stay the night before the wedding and a place for my husband and I to stay after we got married. It cut down half of our travel time and saved us a lot of money. Bucks County has only bed and breakfasts that are quite pricey, have 3 night minimums and definitely are not as private. Thank you so much Wilco & Kathy! I am not lying when I say that your Cottage was perfect and made our wedding that much more special. We will never forget you :)

We absolutely loved this property. The house was beautifully decorated and was fully equipped and very "comfortable". The use of the bicycles for the kids was a huge hit!! The room at the back of the garage was a nice place to hang out. There was lots of space both inside and out, for the kids to explore. I highly recommend this place.

For the past six years, college friends and our collective children have gathered for Thanksgiving week creating new, happy memories. This past year was exceptional as we gathered in this wonderful three bedroom home. The house was perfectly laid out so that the kids could have their space and the adults could have their in front of the fire. A gameroom with board games was great place to sharpen our competitive skills. The boys also had fun riding the mountain bikes that were provided on the property. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans. The decor was very tasteful. There was plenty of firewood too!

Thank you for a wonderful place to stay during our 4th of July vacation. The cottage was like our home away from home. We have 2 small kids, 1 and 3 and they loved it. I can't think of one thing that we needed, that you hadn't thought of. We went to Sesame Place, Philidelphia Zoo, Adventure Aquarium and the Crayola Factory. We also enjoyed watching the deer in the backyard. We had the best vacation. We would definetly come back again. Thank you!!

What a great time we had staying at this beautifully furnished cottage. With some family members including grandchildren, we enjoyed the large back yard, the quiet of the trees, and the nearness of Lake Nockamixon. Many thanks to the van den Burgs for making this avaliable to us.

This was a delightful cottage and really enhanced our visit to the Philadelphia area. The house and grounds were very clean and well maintained and contained everything we needed or could have wanted. The attention to details was remarkable. One example of this was the well stocked game room that had something for everyone. This really suited all ages and activity levels in our family. There was ample space inside and out for active games, quiet reading and everything in between. The well equipped kitchen lent itself to cooking in and eating together. It was a great break from hotel rooms and restaurants. It exceeded all my expectations and offered so much. I highly recommend it!

Thank you, Kathy and Wilco, for your attention to detail in making your cottage a true vacation home. Everything was top quality. This was a wonderful way for our family of 4 to have a long-term visit with friends & family in the area and also have our own time and space. We also enjoyed seeing the deer and wild turkeys on the grounds! We'll be back...

An answer to prayer

After searching the net for a couple of weeks I had the "brilliant"idea to look under vacation homes/rentals. I liked the idea that the rentals here are rated . I was looking for a quiet, quality house, something to come home to after a long day at the clinic. We live in a custome home on 12 acres with lots of forest - I guess I was looking for something similar. We are so glad we chose this one.Everything was completely up to our expectations and much more:the cleanliness, the decor & furnishings, the fire place in the livingroom and the family of deer outside, the location close to the lake, the caring attention of the owners. They even put some parcels with medicine and other things we sent ahead into the house and then offered to take a box back to UPS when we were leaving, letting us know they cared about us . Since we rented for a little under two weeks, they also sent the cleaning lady to tidy up. Before my wife became ill 5 years ago,we had traveled to many countries and stayed in many different kind of places, most of the time on vacation. This time it was for an intense 12 day doctors visit to begin a new medical protocol. That is what made our "home away from home" so much more important. It had to be a complete home to live in,to be really comfortable and it truly was.We would recommend it to any traveler. Bob & Sue

Owner response:Dear Bob and Sue, Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. Your guest review of our house means a lot to us. We were blessed to have guests like you. We hope that the new approach in treatment you started here is successful. Perhaps we will see you again if future travel plans bring you back to the Philadelphia area.

Thank you, Wilco and Kathy, for our wonderful stay in your CLEAN and WELL-EQUIPPED cottage. Photos do not do justice to how lovely it is! Our family of 5 (one an infant) shared the cottage with my parents during a family wedding, and it was a perfect place for a family gathering. This was so much better than a hotel stay for people with children -- there was plenty of space, it was super tidy, well stocked and had a beautiful and relaxing natural setting to boot. I just wish we could have stayed longer to see the sights and try the bikes in the shed! Another time... Best, The Bishops

Wilco and Kathy, We just wanted to thank you again for the opportunity to stay at your lovely cottage. We hope it is the beginning of a yearly family tradition for us...although we are hoping to be able to come back this winter as well. We so appreciated how well stocked and furnished the cottage was all the way down to the bottle of bubbles which our 18 month old greatly appreciated...and the bikes which was also a highlight. We so look forward to our next stay. Kindly, The Drury Family

Kathy and Wilco, Haycock cottage was a wonderful vacation spot for myself, children and grandchild. As soon as we entered your cottage, we felt comfortable and relaxed. The grounds are fantastic and my granddaughter was introduced to her first live frog. She called it froppy. She ran and played quite a bit. The State Park being so close was an added extra. It really has a fantastic pool. If we plan a PA trip agian, your cottage would be the place we would want to stay.

Just a quick note to let you know that we enjoyed your property very much. It was well equipped and very tastefully done. I especially enjoyed the den area even without the fire. Wildlife was abundant. We traveled more than I would have preferred but there is so much to see in the area. I will mention briefly the Barnes Foundation which was a highlight. I have never seen such a collection of Impressionist paintings. It is worth another visit. Again thanks for the experience. Fred

This cottage was the best part of our vacation! We were away from home for a total of 10 days and Bucks County Cottage was our "home away from home" for five of those days! We played so hard - at the cottage (our 3, 7, and 12 year old daughters loved the bikes in the shed and the puzzles, books and games inside and we loved the opporunity to sleep in, stay up late, find a corner to read a good book in, and watch the wildlife) - and outside the cottage (we visited a new place each day, none of the places more than an hour's drive away). Hershey, PA, Gettysbury, New Hope/Lahaska, Langhorne, Washington Crossing and Eaton - we did kid-friendly and adult-interesting activities alike and just really enjoyed knowing this "home-y" cottage was awaiting us at the end of it all. Our advice for anyone not familiar with the area would be to borrow or purchase a GPS before visiting - it made our trips much less stressful around all the windy, beautiful, wooded streets we'd take everywhere. The washer and dryer were a life-saver on the packing end and we really enjoyed being able to eat some of our meals at the cottage, rather than having to drive to eat out all the time. The Van den Burg's were gracious, attentive hosts and we would definitely recommend their cottage as a vacation spot!

SAME TIME NEXT YEAR!!! For twelve years four artist friends have been meeting in the US and Europe to paint together. This cottage was the best digs we've ever enjoyed. It truly is a beautiful home, fully gifted for every want one could ask for on vacation - and more. We wanted for nothing and yet got so much more than we could ever have dreamed of. Imagine wild turkeys courting in the back yard and dear visiting every morning and evening, a beautiful lake nearby and easy access to Doyalstown, New Hope, Philadelphia and the Brandywine River Valley. You don't have to be an artist to delight in this beauty and comfort. Pure joy! PS Sleeping arrangements are great!

Thanks Kathy and Wilco for what was a wonderfully restful vacation at your cottage. The location was perfect, far enough from Phila to make for a quiet time in the country, and close enough to venture out to the city on day trips. The cottage iteself was fabulous - roomy, charming, so tastefully and so very beautifully kept up! Your hospitality was so much in evidence from the kitchen stocked with every conceivable appliance and provision, to the board games for the kids and the bikes in the shed. The attention to detail was really everywhere to see. We are very grateful indeed. Family and kids had a simply wonderful time. We do hope to be back! Best wishes, The Khans
