Relax in this 100+ year-old log home, literally 15 feet from the edge of Kangaroo Lake. Renovated and decorated with style at every turn, at 1200+ square feet, this home is the largest of the Sunset Shores offerings. Luxury abounds! As you look out of the living room to the lake, it feels like you are laying in an infinity pool or a houseboat. The water is that close and the sunsets are fantastic year round!
Winter is especially beautiful on Kangaroo Lake and the gas fireplace keeps the place nice and toasty. Door County has a lot to offer in the winter and many restaurants now stay open year round.
For your sleeping arrangements, there are two spacious bedrooms upstairs with luxury bedding. Select Comfort beds allow you to adjust the firmness of the bed. As well, there is a very comfortable pull out queen sofa in the living room. The KK has a full dining area and a great snackbar counter off the kitchen. Everything you need for the perfect dinner or tasty drink is available in the kitchen. The large living room has cathedral ceilings and an unbeatable view of Kangaroo Lake! It also features a plasma television (w/DTV satelite for basic cable), surround sound stereo and phenonemal set up to watch a great movie (over 50 DVD's at your disposal). You have all of the modern amenities of a high-end home, with the character of a getaway cabin. The original exposed log construction remains intact and the charm never wears off.
Kangaroo Lake is a very shallow, clean lake that can be enjoyed by all. The sunsets are truly majestic, anytime of the year! The lake is simply stunning to look at while calm sets in. Located within 15 minutes of almost anywhere, the KK is truly centrally located in Door County. Recommendations for great restaurants and things to do are available per your request. Luxurious rustic lakeside cabin

My husband and I, and our dog, Daisy, were truely impressed with this fantastic cabin on Kangeroo Lake, that we plan to make this a yearly return trip. The cabin looks like it was professionally decorated, complete with luxurious European style bed linens. The porch is located about six feet from the water's edge, perfect for sitting on enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or watching the beautiful evening sunsets with a glass of wine in hand. Lake Michigan, good restaurants, nature retreats, gift shops, winery's , farm markets, and golf courses, are all within a five minute drive. Trudy, the cabin manager, was only a phone call away for advice on places to visit or important questions such as"where to find the best Ice cream" (the Yum Yum Tree in Bailey's Harbor). If you are looking for a bed and breakfast type of retreat, the Kangaroo Kastle fits the bill, although you have to cook your own breakfast!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We stayed here last October for the Pumpkin Patch Festival. We had a wonderful time and absolutely LOVED the Kastle :-) The owner is super-friendly & informative about all our questions. The Kastle is nicely decorated (modern greens, reds, yellows & oranges). It is very comfortable. We loved the fact we could bring our dog. She had a great time swimming (yes, in October) becuz we ended up with a heat wave of upper 70-degree days for the festival. It was great to sit on the deck off the back of house and be 10-feet from the water. The Kastle is fully stocked and there are extra blankets and pillows if you need them. If you are tall, i.e., taller than 6'2" tall, please be prepared to duck when you enter into the kitchen as the structural beam poses a slight hazard for those that are tall. My husband got used to it, after hitting it twice :-), but you really do need to be careful. This is definetly NOT a showstopper...it's a great part of the charm of the Kastle. The on-site manager stopped in at our arrival to make sure everything was ok and to answer any of our questions. This is truly a wonderful property and you will not be sorry you stayed. We will definitely be back!!
