We stayed here for a long weekend. The setting is really quite perfect. We were looking for an escape from the city and this exceeded our expectations. It's an excellent house to be in over a cold winter weekend. The place was in great and had all amenities we needed to cook for ourselves and hunker down indoors for most of our stay. When we did leave, we were really happy with the proximity to a number of hiking trails. The owner was always helpful and easy to reach. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and hope we have a chance to make a return trip at some point!

We were also concerned by the negative review but found the house to be lovely, and just as advertised. The location was beautiful, with the sounds of the adjacent stream a welcome and soothing soundtrack. Everything was in good working order, and the house was well furnished. Great for families.

We had booked our Christmas vacation before the "extremely disappointing" review was posted so were naturally concerned about what awaited us. We should not have worried as, in common with previous reviewers, we found a well maintained, clean and cozy house in a great location. The farmhouse was equipped with everything we needed for our week away and the broadband connection was a real bonus given the lack of cell phone signal. In our experience the owner was very responsive to any queries that we had and a pleasure to deal with. We would have no hesitation in booking a return trip.

My family rented this house for the month of August but left after one night because the house was extremely dirty and not as advertised. The house seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in months and there was mold throughout the house. The owner told us it was suitable for young children and newborns but that's not the case; the appliances are broken and old, there is rust and mildew all over the place, there are no screens in the windows (most of which are broken) and the house doesn't have AC, several stairs are broken outside, the gate is rotted so it doesn't close, the BBQ is covered in rust and falling apart, etc. The owner advertises that the bathrooms and kitchen have been renovated but you'll only find one bathroom partially renovated and the other really old, dirty and unusable. The kitchen has been PARTIALLY renovated but the cabinets and appliances are very old and falling apart. The linens are old and musty and the trundle bed is not safe for young children. The house may look good in the posted photos but the experience of staying there is completely opposite - to be fair, the house might be acceptable for a winter weekend for two adults or a bunch of college kids but its completely unsuitable for a family with young kids or during any time when the weather is nice and you need to open the broken windows because the bugs will flood in - in addition to the piles of dead bugs which haven't been cleaned off the windowsills in who knows how long. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss further or to view the photos of the house we took. Rent at your own risk as the property owner is not very flexible or responsible for the condition of the property and you'll have a very difficult time getting any of your money back if you're not satisfied. We rate this property a ZERO and the customer service a ZERO so BUYER BEWARE!!!
Owner response:Hmm. How does one gracefully respond to such a "colorful" review. One may easily guess by reading it that there was some sort of issue between us. I can only say unequivocally that I believe I was more than reasonable in attempting to resolve this renter's complaints, which were ,by the way, much LESS than reasonable. He chose the lowest form of retaliation. I only hope that the reviews that precede and follow it will be a more obvious representation of what I (and clearly most others) believe is an exceptional property. In any case, I invite anyone to come and have a look. I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised!!

My husband and I stayed here in July 2011 and had a lovely time. We were drawn to this particular house because of its location on a mountain stream, and for the fact that we were able to bring our beloved beagle with us. He certainly enjoyed listening to the stream and roaming around the large completely fenced-in yard. The house is tastefully decorated and the kitchen is fully equipped for dining in. As a real bonus, the house has cable TV, internet access, and a land line which comes in handy in the mountains. It is centrally located in the Catskills so that trips to the surrounding charming towns is easy. The landlord is very responsive and was a pleasure to work with. I have recommended this property to several friends! We look forward to our next stay!

Just spent a fun weekend with a group of friends here. House is in great condition and really beautiful in the winter. Great skiing at nearby Belayre and Hunter, you really can't go wrong. The stream in back is the finishing touch.

My husband and two small children spent two days/nights here in late October. This is an incredible piece of property. We loved sitting in the kitchen nook listening to and watching the water rush through the creek and the kids loved running around in the yard and exploring. It was difficult to leave!

We've rented for two summers and couldn't have imagined anything better. The stream behind the house is absolutely amazing with king fishers skimming the surface of the water flying upstream looking for fish. For a feeling of country and being completely removed- this is the place. The screened in porch was especially tranquil.
