We loved our one-week stay. The apartment is in the center of the block so it is very quiet. It has everything you need with a nice view of the courtyard. We can't wait to return to Paris and would love to stay here again.

Where to start? The apartment was immaculate upon arrival. The photos are a true representation. The owners are very responsive. The orchid was a lovely gesture. I've done my best to maintain its beauty! The nautical artwork is wonderful and interesting. Natural and internal lighting is excellent - you can actually see to read - unlike most Paris apartments. The outlook is great with the usual courtyard, but there's more, as you see a lot of sky and get an idea of what the day promises. Absolutely no noise at night, except for the occasional rumble from next door (just keep the bathroom door closed). Kitchen is better equipped than anyone would expect with Limoges china and lots of it + enough cooking equipment and utensils to host a dinner party for eight! The "library" is good too - I don't need Paris books and there's plenty of info, but I did appreciate the few very good novels. I exchanged one for another that I presume is the concept. The neighbourhood ambience is great - this is a local Paris area, not a tourist "must". There are numerous food outlets - super marché, fruit & veg, boucheries, boulangeries etc etc. Montparnasse is close and the 58 bus will get you there in a few minutes if you're not up to the 10 minute walk. I know Paris well and this is without doubt the most comfortable and welcoming apartment I have ever rented. It's small, but lovely. I have a policy of eating out - easy in this area - local resto, Café Losserand opposite Métro (Pernety), has excellent cous cous on Fridays - authentic and cheap. I could go on and on about the benefits of living in Pernety. If you wish to visit the monuments of Paris the 58 bus will take you close to everywhere - le Louvre, Notre Dame, les Halles - and from there its an easy walk to .... I am very happy that I rented 132 rue du Chåteau and have already recommended the apartment to friends. Enjoy your stay as much as I have. Merci beaucoup to Jean-Pierre et George. Finally - I'm called "UNHAPPY" as that was my last review - I am actually VERY HAPPY

We loved the Rue Du Chateau apartment! One day we will have an opportunity to repay you for the extraordinary efforts you made for us. We hope to rent from you again in 2012 since 2011 will see us walking across England instead of in Paris at the end of our journey. Kind Regards, Wendy & Geoff B. Australia

Thank you. I love the Pernety neighborhood and chose to stay there again, having discovered it last summer. This summer I had fun at the Bal des Thermopyles on the rue des Thermopyles. I also went to a lecture on the neighborhood at the vide-grenier. I even walked the back streets on the rue du Moulin Vert to Alésia discovering the Villa Alésia with the artstis' studios, the parks, and the village feel of this quartier populaire. And yes, I trained myself to take buses and not to reflexively go underground. I look the 58 a lot and others to Montparnasse. The Place de Catalogne behind the gare Montparnasse is interesting too. Very Italian Futurist. I feel like I know Paris so much better now! Constance C. New Haven, CT USA

When we couldn't find anything we could afford in the 4th adn 5th arrondissements, we checked out the 14th and discovered the relatively peaceful neighborhood by the Pernety Metro stop. Even though you sense a calm atmosphere when you emerge from the Metro, the neighborhood has dozens of cafes, inexpensive restaurants, take-out traitteurs, fromageries, boulangeries, boucheries, etc. The charm of old Paris in this neighborhood outweighs the occasional modern building mixed in. The apartment is small, but its high ceilings and tall windows give it a light and airy feeling. The photos on the website do not do justice to the apartment's overall attractiveness. Someone has carefully thought about what a temporary resident might need and provided amenities like flashlights, sewing kit, extra towels, electric adapters, and shopping bags for the nearby supermarket. A laundromat is next door. The owner provides detailed written instructions and suggestions which are very helpful. The apartment looks over a courtyard with beautiful trees and is absolutely quiet. Unfortunately, you can hear the neighbors next door through the walls, but we mitigated this by closing the bathroom door, and since these elderly neighbors keep very reasonable hours they never bothered our sleep. Historic Rentals, which manages the apartment, did everything right and in an organized fashion. Madame Gelacio, the English-speaking housekeeper, came right over when we had to call her about a (self-inflicted) problem. All in all, we highly recommend this apartment and its neighborhood.

We've had a lovely time in Paris. The Montparnasse area is wonderful. The Rue Du Chateau apartment is comfortable, and very well equipped. There are lovely shops nearby, as well as a metro station. The metro is extremely easy to use, but we suggest buying a book of ten tickets if you will use it often - it's cheaper. We have enjoyed everywhere that we've visited and couldn't possibly recommend only one attraction! We have also eaten at many different restaurants, and found them all to be good with friendly staff and reasonable prices. Lee, Janet, and Amy G. Washington, England
