If you have ever wanted to wake up in the morning and see the lobster, shrimp, and fish boats leave for their work, and return with your dinner all from the big family dining table: Historic Captain Nathan Clark House is for you, too. The rest of the time you may spend sitting in the big yard, or you may swim, kayak, canoe and hike nearby. Remember Mt Cadillac for more memory pictures. All shopping is within walking distance. If you prefer not to cook the big menu, from the catch of the day, you are a block from Beal's dock where they will prepare it for you to enjoy there or at CNC table. This is why our family of ten has made it our summer destination for years. We have stayed at the Captain Nathan Clark house three times with 3-4 couples, and will probably return again. Is there a better recommendation? Although the rambling house is old, it is also historic and charming; and everything works. The owner has called near the beginning of each stay to check if everything is going well, and it always has been. The village of Southwest Harbor is on the “quiet side” of Mt. Desert Island, with several excellent restaurants within walking distance. All of Acadia National Park is easily accessible within a half-hour drive.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
