The magic of Manzanita starts here, with a great view of the ocean while surrounded by trees. You will get to know the local birds as they visit our many feeders and nest in birdhouses on the property. The walk to the beach is less than a block and the coastline stretches for miles to the south. To the north is Neahkahnie Mountain, great to look at, and even better for a hike to the top! Nehalem Bay State Park and the beautiful Nehalem River are just a couple of miles from town and offer a variety of recreation possibilities.
The main street of Manzanita is often referred to as "the village." You will understand that description when you visit the small gift shops, clothing boutiques, and restaurants. There is also a public library conveniently located in the center of town. Two small grocery stores, a wine bar, a day spa, movie rental store, and a place to rent beach bikes fill up other parts of the village. You can get great coffee, pastries, and ice cream also!
Our home has three levels, with a full bathroom on each. The top level is the main living area, with an open kitchen/dining/living room. French doors open onto a deck which is usually protected from the winds of the beach. Ahhh...the salt air, the sunshine, and a spiral staircase that leads up to a "crow's nest" deck for further beach viewing. The master bedroom and bath are also on the top level. The middle level has another bedroom with a queen bed, large bathroom, and your own private deck. The laundry room and main entry to the house are on this level also. The lower level has a large bedroom with bunk beds and corner twin beds (which can be rolled together to make a king bed). There is a large family room with a set of bunk beds, sofa, chairs, games, T.V./VCR/DVD, chests full of toys and sliding glass doors that open to a patio.
We have books in the house that will tell you about local lore, day hikes, wildlife viewing, and other activities to keep you busy. If you'd rather kick back, the living room has a lovely window seat for curling up with a book (or some other good friend!) and watching the waves. It is a great family house; it is great for special celebrations; it is great for retreats/getaways. |
