Lagoa - Algarve
Located in the southern part of Sítio da Canada (Canada – a past access route for cattle from the coast to the mountain – as mentioned in Cortes de Elvas, 1361) in Lagoa district, Quinta da Eira was acquired by the current owners in 1981.
At the time, the vineyard occupied an area of about 2 hectares of mostly Castelão grape in non-irrigated land, which was in place until 2001 when an irrigation system was installed.
In the year of 2000, Quinta da Eira expanded its rustic and urbanistic areas with the acquisition of the adjacent property Quinta da Aroeira (former Masmorra dos Passarinhos), amounting to a total area of nearly 10.50 hectares.
The cultivation of citrus fruits has given way to viticulture, assuring the maintenance of the “old vines”.
The existence of 2 Guest houses and the belief that tourism and agricultural activity should coexist and be complementary, lead the owners to a new project of increasing the vineyard with the cultivation of 0.5 hectares of Arinto grapes and 1.6 hectares of Negra Mole grapes. The plantation of 1.6 hectares occupies two parcels of the property where once was a vineyard of 1.7 hectares dated 1931, which historical testimony persists alive in a hundred strains. It is a living memorial, the so-called vineyard “Survivor /centurion“, that the owners stubbornly wish to preserve!
Quinta da Eira - guest house- is located in a private farm with 10,5 hectare midway between Lagoa and Carvoeiro, surrounded by vineyards, orange trees and others typical Mediterranean trees. The villa can accommodate 6 people and is served with a private a pool with 9 m / 4.5 m ( deep 1/2m), gardens, terraces and private tennis court. The pool area has a covered barbecue. Quinta da Eira has an enviable location amidst peaceful rumbling countryside just 3 km from Carvoeiro's picturesque beach and charismatic resort centre with a fine variety of bars and eateries.Others beaches, like Benagil and Marinha are also at 3 km from the farm. Gramacho, Pinta Golf and Vale de Milho are all 18 hole golf courses open to the public, just 2-3 km away from the farm. Quinta da Aroeira´s guest house is another old farmhouse beautifully restored, located in the same private farm with property nº 87718.
