We've found our home away from home. This very spacious house is centrally located to everything in Outer Banks and is equipped with everything you need for the beach, cooking, laundry, or just hanging out. The sound is within sight in one direction and the ocean is within earshot in the other. You can't beat the neighborhood for quiet relaxation and the neighbors are great people. We just stayed there for the 4th time and are already planning next year's trip. It just couldn't get much better.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Great location. Period. Nice, quiet neighborhood on the Sound side of Kill Devil Hills close to shopping, The Wright Brother's Memorial, the ocean, and Jockey's Ridge. Just right for a nice relaxing (or hetic) stay while in the OBX. I took members of my two photography classes there for Easter Break and we loved it ... The house was big enough for our group -- even when we invited other members of our class for meals -- and provided enough patio and deck space while relaxing in the afternoons while getting ready for the next sunrise or sunset. The back yard was another bonus -- plenty of space (and shade) for games or relaxing. Just a great setting for any vacation. Another aspect that helped with our large group, was the parking spaces. True, we had to jockey for positions most mornings, or evenings, but we were able to park several cars without a problem. Great for large families. The the best aspect -- and the one my students mentioned the most, was the location. Everything worked out fine for a great week of photography -- and yes, we did relax and enjoyed the beautiful weather and OBX experience as well.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

We have had a great week here. The weather was nice. Only one thunderstorm at night. We went to the beach, shopping, Wind Mill Point, very good seafood. We went to a back country safari ride to see wild mustang horses and rode on the beach. We saw some friends from home. We went biking & saw a few deer. We also went fishing on the pier. We caught several spanish mackeral. Thanks for sharing you home here at the outer banks. The Bartons & BowersDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Once again we've had an awesome week here at the Outer Banks! It was hot and humid most of the week but we still had so much fun here! Thank you so much for letting us come again; we have so many good memories here. We grilled out almost every night, took many walks and bike rides around the neighborhood and of course, enjoyed the ocean. Thanks again for your hospitality and for opening your home to us. We hope to come back next year!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was our first visit to the Outer Banks and we really enjoyed our stay at your home. It was very roomy and accomodating. We were there the last week of September and loved every minute of it. It rained only for about 2 seconds one day, but was just a mist on our car windshield. I was so pleased because it was raining and cold back home!! We will definately be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. We had a great time. This is a really nice area & very convenient. We really enjoyed the new screened porch & loved watching the squirrels play, & all the different kinds of birds. We almost forgot we were at the beach. We had great weather, despite a tropical storm that threatened. We only had rain one morning. The girls loved riding the bikes & we didn't have to worry about them getting hit. Thanks again. We hope to be able to come again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was our first time at BRUCE'S ROOST. We had a wonderful time. Thanks so much for this opportunity to spend some time with our family. We hope we can come back next year. We had a ton of fun and wanted to thank you again for letting us stay. The Johnson Family, Front Royal, Va. We really enjoyed staying here. For some of the people it was their first time to the beach. We enjoyed the house and the location. The kids loved being able to bike & go down to the sound to fish & go crabbing. Thanks, The Dellingers, Woodstock, Virginia Staying here always brings back such wonderful memories. I remember being here when our daughter was little & Grandaddy Bruce was still with us. Now we are making new memories with different friends as our daughter enters her senior year in high school. Thanks for everything. The Maucks! Mt. Jackson, Virginia We had a great time this week. Thanks for opening your home to us. This is our 3rd. stay at BRUCE'S ROOST & my parents 4th. We are happy to be here together. As we get older we start to realize how short life can be or that life doesn't always turn out the way we anticipated. So, we are happy to be here together. 3 generations. My boys are 14 & 16 & were happy they wanted to come. The boys as I have enjoyed biking. We were blessed with some unseasonable temperatures for being 4th. of July week. We have really enjoyed crabbing. The beach has been beautiful. We love weafood. Its fun for the girls to steal away a couple of days at the outlets. My maiden name is wright, so its always intriging to return to the Wright Memorial. So my father said, it really didn't change much from last year. Many thanks!! Why the Owner Chose Kill Devil Hills:
We chose to buy our vacation rental home from coming to the outer banks when we were small children. Not one day do we regret the move. A wonderful relaxing place to come & bring the whole family. A place that I can call HOME!!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We enjoy the uncrowded beaches in the fall & winter & the whole area for not being so commercialized. We wouldn't give it up for anything. Our location is what sold us. We are centrally located to everything on the outer banks. Also note that THIS cotttage is enviromentally friendly. & we try to keep it that way the best way we can.
