This place really was spectacular farmhouse but yet comfortable. It is not that close to the beach and those out of shape kin should plan on driving. Owners were pleasant as well with each interaction although we dont think we ever saw them - gardeners did some weeding...Great biking area!!

We had a large family (18 people) stay at the house and it provided everything we could ask for and more. Waking up to fresh berries, taking a bike ride or a soak in the hot tub or having a fire at night were just some of the many options for our family while there. Having a clean and loved home to stay in really made the vacation for us!

We were a family of 11 ranging from a senior who has difficulty getting around to a 14-month-old. Every one of us adored this house and the whole experience. It was a genuine home, not just a rental property, with amenities ranging from a professional chef's kitchen range and gourmet cookware to books and DVD's to the hot tub (which we enjoyed mightily, every night) to enough space for each of us to feel comfortable and at home. We loved the little touches -- baby gates, cake decorating supplies, strawberries and veggies free for the picking, carefully-selected bedspreads and thoughtfully decorated rooms. We loved the huge kitchen and eating area, the barn chock-full of recreational equipment, and the proximity to wonderful beaches. It was shiny clean, extremely well maintained, and there was plenty of information. Perhaps most important, the rental process, from start to finish, was both efficient and warm. I almost felt like I was doing Elise and Adrian a favor by enjoying their house so much! It was like being a guest in someone's well-tended and beautifully-appointed home. The whole experience was a joy, and we highly recommend this property.

We stayed in the main house (8 adults, 4 children ages 2-4). It was the best vacation rental we have ever had. The most striking thing about it, and the best feature, is how complete the house felt -- not just furniture, but floor-to-ceiling bookcases filled with good books, cabinets filled with toys, beds with stuffed animals, pictures on the upstairs walls. Looking at the books and pictures, we felt like this was a family we would like to know, and a house we would like to visit. The house is laid out to give plenty of space and privacy (bedrooms are tucked away from the center of the house), with lots of well laid out, comfortable and spacious common space. Everything was very clean and easy to find. The kitchen is big enough for 3 people to cook at the same time, and equipped with everything you could need (not just pots and pans but also lobster crackers, cookie cutters, Kitchenaid mixer, etc). The yard is huge, with a beautiful garden and fruit trees, a well constructed playset, and enough seating for everyone. We used the grill, the fire pit, the hot tub, the huge wraparound porch (including a bed perfect for an afternoon nap), and all the yard space. Oh, and the barn. Wow. Loaded with bikes and trikes of every size, wagons, strollers, kid cars and scooters, a kayak, and as much sporting equipment as you could use in a month. We didn't get to play much with the ping-pong table and pool table (the weather was too perfect to stay in!) but they would be great on a rainy day. The location: A short (<10 min) walk to Crescent Beach and Kettle Cove, short walk to ice cream and the Good Table restaurant, 4 minute drive to the nearest grocery store, 12 minute drive to Portland. This was a great place and I can't recommend it enough. We can't wait to go back.

This place is everything they promised and then some. Absolutely phenomenal choice if you are traveling with young kids - they have EVERYTHING you could possibly want in the toy/stroller/bikes/fun department. We loved it and will be back.

From 18 months to 87 years of age, members of my family truly enjoyed this vacation rental for our reunion. Lovely expansive lawn with flowers and vegetable gardens, foxes, plenty of outdoor seating, convenient hot tub, porch and patio, play equipment, lots of space inside and out. The location of the bedrooms #5 and #6 was unusual, and the downstairs bathroom was a bit odd, but all in all we found this a really wonderful place. Very clean. Attractively furnished. Plenty of linens and dishes for a crowd. Especially well equipped, spacious kitchen. Many books and photos made it feel homey. Very generous toys, games, play equipment for all ages, bikes, etc. Location is wonderful. Easy walk to Kettle Cove and Crescent Beach and ice cream stand. Lobster Shack nearby. Be sure to visit Two Lights State Park early in your stay, and return there often!
