Located in beautiful Door County Wisconsin in the quaint village of Ellison Bay on the upper most part of the peninsula. This home is situated close to the water with views from the tower room WITH A WONDERFUL 12X15 foot deck overlooking the bay and picturesque Ellison Bay Bluffs. A great area for sailing, biking, hiking, shopping, galleries, theatre, star gazing, vegging out, and my personal favorite (check out the photo) salmon fishing.
The home is beautifully appointed with comfortable overstuffed furniture, hardwood floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, a Jacuzzi in the master bath, cathedral ceilings and much more. According to our past guests the best feature of the house is the huge screened-in porch off the kitchen.
This is not a 'bare bones' rental unit. This is our family vacation home which we would like to share as time permits.
The rentals will be Sat-Sat and if you click on the calendar you will be able to tell at a glance what dates are still available.
PLEASE NOTE...ADDITIONAL dates may be available UPON REQUEST. Please don’t hesitate to ask. At this point the home is able to sleep 12 people.
-One King
-Two Queens
-One single
-Double / and one twin bunk
-Two Sleeper sofas
The master bedroom with king bed and private bath are on the first floor. Two of the upstairs bedrooms are furnished with queen beds and the 3rd upstairs bedroom is ready to sleep 6 with a double/single bunk bed a single bed and a sleeper sofa. Just outside this bedroom is the loft which overlooks the great room and fireplace and also is equipped with a brand new sleeper-sofa.
The loft is an ideal space for the kids to go to play games etc. A spiral staircase will take you from the loft to the tower room....which is sure to become the kid's favorite place to hang out.......or Mom and Dad's favorite place to watch the sunsets over the gorgeous Ellison Bay waters. We added a large deck off the tower room so that you maybe outside while enjoying the view over the water.
The location of the home ideal. Within walking distance to the Marina, the Pioneer Store (our local grocery), galleries , shops, and restaurants. It is also a short walk to the Ellison Bay Beach with it's tennis courts, beach and playground.

We just booked for a second stay at this great property and while discussing our plans I realized I forgot to leave a review from our last stay....so here goes!! My family and I stayed at this beautiful home over the Labor Day week. We had 12 in our party and everyone was delighted with my choice. It is always a bit scary to be in charge of a multi family gathering but this home and it's owner did not disappoint. The owner was there to greet us and always available for any questions we had about the area, fun things to do etc. A big plus was that each bedroom was stocked with magazines, brochures, maps ect so each family could read up on the area. The local tourist information center was also a stone's throw away as was a free ( you read that right...free!!) bike "rental". As the main cook I was delighted to have the little town grocery just a block away and my sisters and I loved attending a class at the cookng school which is right across the street!! The home was VERY well appointed and we lacked for nothing. It is obvious that Lyn wants her guests to be very comfortable and we certainly were! Ellison Bay is a lovely little town and most everything was within walking distance. The Viking Restaurant ( less tha a block away) was a favorite of ours for breakfast as their menu is varied and the prices very fair. The kids pancakes came out looking like Mickey Mouse and they were delighted. I loved their chorizo omlette and my husband was crazy about the Fisherman's breakfast. They also have a little sports bar adjacent to the restaurant where the guys liked to spend a bit of time rooting for their favorites. Ellison Bay has a small public beach about a 1/3 mile from the house. The sand beach was great for the little ones as well as a super playground area. We also had several tennis players in the group who used the courts adjacent to the playground. Your family will thank you if you decide to choose this property...I know mine did!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I look forward to having you all back again this year!! Let's try to get out fishing together if time permits. Thanks again for the comments and booking for a second time. Lyn

My sister-in-law's first words to me were "how did you find this place?" My husband said that it was perfect. We loved going to the public pier to watch the sunset or to the rooftop deck to look at the stars and the Milky Way with my 9 year old. This really was a great place to stay and we really enjoyed all the touches you have around your house. I don't think the pictures in your ad do it justice! There is so much to do in Ellison Bay and close by that you don't need to go far...the town has bikes available free of use right across the street. Great for active vacationers who don't like to sit around too much! We miss Ellison Bay as soon as we leave :(Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind words. I love Ellison Bay too...for exactly those reasons you mentioned. I hope to see you back again next year! Thank you for leaving everything in such wonderful shape!!

We made our first family trip to Door County this summer and rented this home with another family. We were 4 adults and 6 children ages 3-10. This home worked out wonderfully! It was even more beautiful than the pictures and very spacious. We had plenty of room for all of us to spread out and all of the conveniences of home, and the huge screened porch and lovely yard were icing on the cake. The location was also fantastic. Within walking distance of a small grocery store, a couple of different restaurants (including one with a well-known fish boil), the beach and playground, and my favorite: a coffee shop! We also appreciated that this home has air conditioning - as it happened to be in the 90s the week we were there. We would rent this home again in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for staying with me and for leaving the house is such amazing shape. You are welcome back any time. Lyn

Dear Lyn, Just a brief note to tell you how much our entire family ( at one point 13 of us!) LOVED your home. We were all able to have space as needed and wonderful places to gather together - the fabulous screened in back porch was where we found ourselves most of the time, and the crows nest provided for a memorable evening of music and shooting star gazing. For one of us this was their very first time to Door County, for antoher the first time back in over 30 years, and for the rest a returning to and a reclaiming of the familiar despite changes in other areas of our lives. Your home offered a restful solitude even during the busiest season of the County. Our only regret is that we ran out of dinner nights and did not get to taste some your delicious fresh caught salmon that you offered us. Hopefully next time!! With gratitude and appreciation, The extended Baumgart familyOwner response: You were a delight and I hope I will see you back again next year. I know this was a very difficult year for everyone in the group and I am happy that I could have been of some help in providing a comfortable place for your family. The hosue was left in wonderful shape and I really appreciate the effort on your part. I promise to have more salmon for you if you choose to return. Thank you again, Lyn

Just got home from staying at this home. It was very nicely equipped and clean. There were 10 of us (ranging from 2 yrs to 70+ yrs) and we had plenty of space. The screened in deck is perfect for relaxing with a good book or eating a meal together. The walk to the beach was a little longer than expected, but my husband, son, and I enjoyed the walk. In fact there were a few neat walks we took from the house. There is an interesting bookstore right around the corner, a coffee shop right up the street, as well as a couple of resturants. This the perfect town if you don't want to be around the traffic and tourists. Lyn, thank you for having your home available for rental and also for the yummy salmon. We all enjoyed ourselves.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Dee and Family, Thank you again for choosing my home for your stay. You were great guests and left the house in terriffic shape. Although the Marina and park are a 1 minuter walk from the back door the public beach is about 1/2 mile walk. I am glad you mentioned the little bookstore as I often forget to do so when speaking with people. Enjoy the rest of the summer. Lyn

Dear Lyn, Christmas brought our family together again for the first time since our FABULOUS vacation in Door County and it reminded me that I had not taken the time to write a comment in your guestgook. In great part I use the term "fabulous" because of you and your gorgeous home. There was nothing we needed that you did not supply. As your add states, this was not an "investment property/bare bones" rental. Everything was "top drawer" according to my mom and dad. The kids adored the bunk room and I so appreciated the many children's books and toys...not to mention the crib and bumper guards. I would bet that the adults spent more time on the beautiful back porch than we did in the house...it is soooo comfortable!. My dad fell asleep in the big hammock almost every afternoon. We got to know a few of our neighbors while there and we had a chance to tour a couple of the other rental properties in your condo development. They were very nice but did not have the same charm as yours. Each was a little different but none of them had a screened-in porch and their yards were tiny and baren by comparison. We did spend a great deal of time outside as your garden is so beautiful and the kids loved the huge trees and all the bird feeders. The neighborhood is great... walking distance to everything. My daughter just reminded me to thank you for the many many books in your library and my husband is still talking about the fishing trip to anyone who will listen! Thank you again for the smoked salmon....we saved the last piece for New Year's Eve. I know 2010 will find us staying with you again. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! ps. to anyone reading this...Lyn's attention to detail was amazing to us. She even has an area rug to put on the screened-in porch so the little ones did not have to sit on the hard wood while playing games. Linda and PaulOwner response: So great to hear from you!! I am so glad our paths crossed this summer. You and your family were dream guests and the house was left in such wonderful condition. Thank you for that!! Luckily, my lot is much larger than the others and was able to have a large porch added. It is my favorite room. I look forward to seeing you and your family again this summer! Lyn

Thanks, Lynn, for a great place to stay at the tip of Door County. The house was beautiful and large enough for our big group. My mother-in-law said a friend was suprised to hear that all of her children and their families stayed together in one place...and enjoyed themselves!! We had a great time and could spread out a bit doing it. Thanks for the wonderful fresh caught salmon as well. Funny enough, people assume we caught it when they see the picture of my husband holding it. It tasted great grilled on the BBQ. Thanks again!Owner response: You and your family were wonderful guests and I always love fishing or sharing salmon with new friends. Please come again. Lyn

We just got back from your beautiful house 2 days ago and I am missing that wonderful screened in back porch. The house was perfect for our group of 6 adults and 4 kids. It was such a good place to come home to after a day of fun in Door County. When you stopped by, you treated us like old friends. I can't imagine a better "landlord" for the week. Thanks for everything including the delicious smoked salmon. I would highly recommend you and your house to anyone visiting Door County. Debbie FreerksenDid you find this review helpful? My family had the most wonderful vacation in Door County and I have no doubt in my mind that this lovely home was one of the reasons. My grandson, 3 years old, talked about the "Vacation House" for weeks after. He insisted on eating every meal on the screened-in back porch. And we did so enjoy the hammock in the yard. The house itself was furnished beautifully and the kitchen had everything a person could need. We also loved the location. It was just far enough north so we did not have to contend with traffic and yet close enough to everything we wanted to do or see. You really have to experience a sunset at Gill's Rock to appreciate Door County and this house is just minutes away. We loved the solitude and cleanliness of Newport Beach and the golfers in the family were pleased that there always seemed to be a new course to try. It was a very memorable week spent in a very memorable home.Owner response: DEAR MC KINNONS...THANK YOU AGAIN FOR CHOOSING OUR HOME FOR YOUR VACATION. IT WAS A JOY TO HAVE YOU THERE AND TO BE ABLE TO GO OUT FISHING TOGETHER. I HOPE WE WILL SEE YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR. LYN

About the owner: My name is Lyn and I have been vacationing in Ellison Bay since I was 2 months old! God did some of his best work up here and once you try it you will be hooked. Speaking of hooks...the photo tells the story. We have some of the best salmon fishing in the world and some of the best charter captains as well!
Why the Owner Chose Ellison Bay:
Sharing time in our family home up here with my 2 sister's was great but in 05' we decided to get a place of our own. These wonderful homes were being built and before we knew it we bought one. We added a HUGE screened-in porch and a 3rd floor with a big deck to allow for a water view and presto!! we were in paradise. We are walking distance to our favorite restaurant and the grocery. There is a marina about a block away and also lots of cute shops and other restaurants within walking distance.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The rear porch overlooks a large yard with beautiful flowers and enough room for badmitton or other yard games. The most important thing to know though is that this is NOT a "bare bones" rental property. This is my home and equipped with all the ammenities for anything you might need. We also have 2 pack and plays...2 bumper guards for little one's beds...toys...videos...wifi...you name it. I can also get you "hooked up" with the best fishing guide in Door Coounty.
