Le Chemin Des Reves

This beautiful piece of Provence that we have named Le Chemin Des Reves is situated on one hectare (2.5 acres) of Provencal countryside known as 'garrigue'. As you walk around the property you will discover the enchanting aromas of Provence - wild thyme, sage, rosemary and lavender as well as many varieties of oak trees, junipers and pines. Our completely renovated home as well as pool, pool house and garden are situated to take advantage of the beauty of Provence and the spectacular view of the Calavon Valley, Luberon Mountains and Vaucluse Mountain. We have planted 300+ lavender plants, 50+ olive trees and a garden with a variety of gorgeous flowers, trees, bushes and herbs. In the process of this 'labor of love' we have had the good fortune to realize our 'dream' and we now enjoy sharing our piece of Provencal paradise through holiday rentals.

Le Chemin Des Reves is located just outside the ancient Provencal perched village of Gordes which is classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France". From the house it is a 20 to 25 minute walk to the Chateau in the center of the village.

The 11 X 5 meter swimming pool and surrounding area is totally private and equipped with pool lounge chairs, tables and parasols. The pool is completely surrounded by a beautiful wrought iron fence with safety door latches for the protection of children. Near the pool is an exciting outside shower for before and after your swim.

Nearby is the pool house with a breathtaking view of the valley and mountains. The pool house is equipped with BBQ (including rotisserie), summer kitchen, dining table with eight chairs as well as comfortable furniture for lounging and enjoying Provence.

At the rear of the house is a stone picnic table for lazy summer lunches in the shade. Our kitchen garden will provide you with fresh herbs for preparing sumptuous meals.

There is a Borie (beehive shaped stone hut) located on our property that has been carefully restored by local artisans. Le Chemin Des Reves is within walking distance of The Village of the Bories and you will see many examples of bories of all sizes throughout the region.

The house is airy and bright and the stone exterior is typical of this region. The interior space is tastefully decorated with comfort, beauty and privacy in mind. Every room in the home has lovely views of the garrigue and most rooms have views of the valley and mountains. The house has three bedrooms, each with ensuite bathroom.

The Master Suite, with queen bed, also includes a large, beautifully decorated salon with fireplace, sitting area and dining table for intimate dinners. Double french doors from the salon afford easy access to the terrace, garden and swimming pool. The bathroom includes two large pedestal sinks, shower, bathtub and WC. The second bedroom (Red Room) has a queen bed and is very inviting. The bathroom has two large sinks, shower and WC. The charmingly decorated third bedroom (Blue Room) is lovely and has a king bed which can be converted into two twin beds. The bathroom has one large sink and shower. The WC has a second sink. All bathrooms are equipped with wall mounted towel warmers, large mirrors and hair dryers.

The spacious and richly furnished living room has an oversized fireplace and french doors that open to a spectacular view of the valley. At night in the distance you can see the lights of Cavaillon and the many small villages that dot the sourrounding landscape. The delightful dining room comfortably seats eight people for memorable dinner parties. The fully equipped Provencal kitchen is a gourmets delight. Included is a wonderful five burner gas cooktop, oven with rotisserie, full sized refrigerator with freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The kitchen is also well stocked with beautiful copper pots and pans along with all the necessary tools for preparing and enjoying delicious meals. The adjacent utility room has a clothes washer and dryer and a second refrigerator with freezer.

The den is equipped with Satellite TV, DVD player (with a great selection of movies) and radio/CD player (CD's from classical to country) plus an IPod player. The den also includes a large selection of books and magazines for your enjoyment. WiFi service is available if you bring your laptop computer and a fax/printer/copier is here for your use.

Relax under the parasols near the pool and then enjoy a Provencal lunch at the stone picnic table in the shade of the oak trees. In the evening the pool and garden lighting create a romantic atmosphere as you watch the sun setting over the Vaucluse Mountains.

The price of the rental includes all utilities, towels/pool towels, pool service, bed and household linens, hair dryers, local phone calls, garden maintenance, alarm security service. Additional house cleaning available upon request and at renter's expense.

Le Chemin Des Reves prefers no pets and no smoking.

    • Just returned from Provence and a week at Le Chemin Des Reves and what a great time we had. The photos on the website do not provide proper justice to this exquisite property. The villa is outstanding inside and out, the views of the Luberon even better. The location was perfect for quick day trips and the suggestions of local restaurants were outstanding. The owners (Gary and Cathy) caretaker (Beverly) were extremely helpful from start to finish, making this a memorable journey. I'd reserve Les Chemin Des Reves again in a heartbeat.

    • WOW! I don't expect we'll ever stay at a finer property. Le Chemin des Reves exceeded all of our expectations and for one week, we felt like we were among France's most elite. The home is spacious, immaculate and tastefully done with a superior view. There were quaint little villages and wineries nearby, but we truly looked forward to getting "home" every day to spend time just relaxing around the pool followed by wonderful dinners we cooked in the lovely kitchen. Three couples can easily rent this place and have plenty of room to spend time together or go off and read a book. I think it would be nearly impossible to find a comparable or better rental anywhere in the area. Thanks for a great vacation!

    • My wife and I spent a week at Le Chemin Des Reves in Sept. 2008. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The house is very well appointed and also extremely well equipped. Three couples could very easily stay at this property with 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. The view is spectacular. My wife and I travel to France quite often and this property is definitely a favorite. We plan to go back to France in the Fall of 2009 with two other couples and our first choice of properties to stay at will be Le Chemin Des Reves. For comfort, view and location it is pretty hard to beat.

    • Our stay at Le Chemin des Reve far exceded our expectations! We stayed with two other couples and each of us had our own bathroom etc. The view was spectacular and the villa was beautiful, modern and well furnished. The pool and pool house are stunning. We personally loved the veranda and spent much time enjoying meals, conversation, and the great views from there. The property is very close to many charming towns and cities. The open markets and eating establishments represent the rich culture of the Provence region. In our opinion you get a lot of bang for your buck at this marvelous property and it is well worth the money. We can't wait to return. We recommend it without reserve.

    • Thank you for a beautiful week at your wonderful Le Chemin des Reves. The weather couldn't have been better during our stay. Your home and property are awesome, and the view of the valley from the house and pool cannot be adequately described; it is breathtaking! Such great day trips to the delightful villages of Provence, the open air markets and charming restaurants...great wine. This was the vacation of a lifetime that we will never forget.

    • Three couples from Michigan decided to go to France, and we chose Gary and Cathy's place for our vacation. As others who have stayed there mentioned, the photos do not do justice for the home or the surrounding sites. The home is equipped beautifully and we took full advantge of the great kitchen, and the pool house barbecue. We cooked several meals on the barbecue and had our dinner in the in pool house whilst enjoying a great fall night in Provence. Eating great food purchased from the local markets, drinking outstanding wine from the area, enjoying wonderful sightseeing trips through the French countryside, that is about all we did, and we will go back to Cathy and Gary's home and do it again. Perfect

    • My wife and I, our two boys (13 and 10 yo) and our childminder stayed in this superb property for two week this August. We have rented about twenty properties over the years in France, Italy, Spain, England, Ireland and the U.S. and this one was, quite simply , the best. A wonderful amount of effort has gone into the infrastrucure and fit-out - electric gates, roomy bathrooms, ceiling fans, wi-fi, satellite TV, a small but well judged library of books/DVDs/CDs, the most perfectly equipped kitchen, additional 'fridges, comfortable pool-house and so on. This is all done in the most practical and understated way with a modern, clean feel superimposed on a traditional vernacular. The site is excellent with total privacy, a wonderful view and extensive rambling grounds, including a lavender field, great pool, a badminton/boules area and bories. There is also an extremely helpful English local contact (Beverly)who is there at check-in and check-out and available to help at any time, eg she had booked a very local restaurant for us for the evening of our arrival which avoided us flapping around and stressing ourselves out. The surrounding area is fascinating with an excess of sight-seeing/dining/activity options and we all loved it. This property is an absolute credit to its owners and a great example of someone planning carefully to create the perfect result. I strongly recommend this property and would rent it again in a heartbeat.

    • My husband and I spent a week at the Chemin des Reves with our two teenagers beginning of August and all of us couldn't have been happier. Cathy and Gary have added so many thoughtful details that all we had to do was enjoy our stay. We could start each day full of energy as the beds are so comfortable and the showers spacious and so clean with lots of water pressure, great towels too. Breakfast and lunch either outside on the porch (teak furniture, no flimsy plastic here) or in the dining room if it was too hot outside. The kitchen was perfect, the gas stove at the right height, enough space in two refrigerators and the dishwasher made life easy. Yes, we used the great barbeque in the poolhouse in the evening in spite of all the restaurants nearby and were taken in by the great view and the shooting stars - and of course we played endless games of boule! During the day we spent lots of time in the refreshing pool (it was HOT outside) and were grateful for the picturesque shutters which kept out the sun and the heat from the house. The location is perfect for short tours through the hills - be it to lavender fields, historic towns or just crazy curvy roads for those who love 'real' driving. If you do not know where to go, there are plenty of suggestions in several ring binders. We were grateful for the internet connection, which worked perfectly. Beverly was very helpful before, during and after our stay - she just mailed our son's favorite T-shirt which he had forgotten by the pool chairs! All in all we did not feel like we were in a summer rental, but rather guests at somebody's home.

    • We loved the property. The location, furnishings, and layout of the property are all ideal. We have stayed in many VRBO properties around the world and consider this one of our absolute favorites. The owners were a treat to deal with and Beverly is fantastic. We would strongly recommend this property to all - we had 4 adults and 2 children (sharing the 3rd bedroom) and everybody was very happy. We will return!!

    • This villa was too good to be true. Everything about it was magical. We spent a week there with our adult children and found it to be far more than we expected, and we expected a great deal. There was not a thing wrong with the villa, except the photos do not really do justice to the property and home. I would recommend this incredible estate to anyone, families, couples or friends, as the most delightful possible way to see and be in Provence. With a car to tour around all the amazing sites, and to get to Gordes in less than five minutes, we found that we were loving every minute, and only to come home to an absolutely incredible estate. We were overwhelmed. Enjoy. Thanks to the owners.
