Our week at Maison des Reves

Guest: Carlos (Caracas, Venezuela)
Date of Stay: 08/13/11 Review Submitted: 08/26/11

We had a wonderful stay at this property, the pictures in the website don't describe half of what it really is, specially the views from the pool area of the Luberon valley. The house is perfectly distributed and oriented in the 1 Ha lot, it is superbly furnished and with lots of literature of Provence, kindly and neatly provided by the owners. The pool house is such a great place to admire the sunsets while enjoying barbecue in a wood fired grill. Gordes is an incredible place and its views from the road approaching it are really stunning. The manager of the property was very kind and friendly from our first contact by email, through our stay and post-stay contacts. We just hope we can come back soon and be able to enjoy again this superb house.

One of the best houses we have ever rented. Just like being in a friend's home. It is so welcoming with everything you could ever need. Location is terrific for daily excursions and visits to local markets. Beverly, the manager, was very helpful and answered all questions before we arrived. Wonderful views with a fenced in pool which is great for two year old grandson. Our family had a such a good time there and one of the main reasons was the house. It was perfect for us. We definitely would recommend it and hope to return next year.

Our Week at Le Chemin des Reves

Guest: Dennis (Brighton, Michigan, USA)
Date of Stay: 09/18/10 Review Submitted: 10/14/10

My wife and I, along with my brother and wife, and sister and husband stayed at Le Chemin des Reves for a week this September. The villa was perfect for us. It is roomy, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. We cooked two dinners and several breakfasts in the fully equipped kitchen, and had one barbeque in the pool house… charcoal and lighter fluid provided. There are three bedrooms in the villa, and here I have to offer a little tip. If you go there with two other couples and draw straws for the rooms… CHEAT. You must try to stay in the master suite. It is huge; complete with a fabulous sitting area (with fireplace), bedroom and full bath. The sitting area overlooks the pool and is perfect for viewing the valley, mountains, and sunsets. The other two bedrooms were fine and each had its own bath. We ate several meals on the front porch and were able to watch sunsets and one rain storm while staying perfectly dry. I must say that the sunsets were beautiful. Our hats are off to Gary and Cathy for thinking of everything with at Le Chemin des Reves. We must also thank Beverly, the local manager, for greeting us at the door, showing us around, explaining how things work, answering questions, and being available whenever we needed any help. She also made dinner reservations for us at several great restaurants. All in all, I can’t say enough about our stay at Le Chemin des Reves and the surrounding area.

Two Weeks in Provence Wasn't Enough

Guest: Lisa (Oakville, Canada)
Date of Stay: 07/31/10 Review Submitted: 09/05/10

My husband, our two daughters (ages 13 and 7) stayed at this property the first two weeks of August. We had a wonderful stay. The property was beautiful and it suited our needs perfectly. This was the first time that we've rented a home rather than stay in a hotel and it was wonderful to have so much space to spread out in. We were also able to let our teenager sleep in while everyone else got up and had breakfast which made for a much more relaxing holiday! Customer service was excellent - both from the owners answering questions when we first contacted them - and from Beverly, the property manager, on-site. One morning of our stay we had no hot water (after a storm and a temporary loss of power), we advised Beverly before we went out for the day and by the time we returned a few hours later she had had a contractor in and the problem repaired. This property worked very well as a base for exploring Provence on day trips. We were able to visit Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Oranges and many small villages in the area. We even went to Eze on the Riviera for a day. Most days we went out for a few hours and then came back to enjoy the back garden and the pool (which were lovely). The kids loved having the pool to play in at the end of a hot day touring around. Gordes (and Provence in general) is stunning, there are lots of wonderful restaurants nearby and no shortage of things to do to keep busy for a couple of weeks. We also enjoyed shopping at the local market for some of the best produce I've ever tasted. Shopping, in general, in Provence was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this property to friends or relatives and if our family was returning to vacation in this area then we wouldn't even consider another property.

We spent a couple of weeks in this wonderful villa at the beginning of July 2010. We really appreciated the peaceful surrounding at Le chemin des rêves. This location is perfect to do day trips in the region. Also, at a few minutes car drive, we discovered "Traiteur and Restaurant Gouin" that offered all you need for a good meal. We would recommend this property to anyone who plans a trip in this region. This location will be our first choice should we ever return to this region.

My in-laws, husband and I had a wonderful week in the Luberon thanks to this lovely house and pool! It's very well-equipped, particularly in terms of cooking facilities (indoor and out), and a perfect base from which to explore the Luberon. It's even better in person than in the photos.

Thanks to Gary and Kathy and Beverly for making our holiday in Provence such a success! House functioned great for a 3-kid family and all our concerns were responded to promptly and kindly. Cooking was a great pleasure in the well equipped kitchen, beds comfortable, the whole property clean and fresh, the owners trust heart warming in leaving such a collection of dvds etc. at the renters disposal. Would recommend this house for anyone looking for a good quality property at a fantastic location in Luberon.

After decades of traveling to Europe, and to France in particular, we have settled on the Vaucluse as a favorite destination. We have rented eight different houses within a close radius of the spectacular hilltop vllage of Gordes, each of them special in its own way. We have often fantasized about taking the best feature of each of them (best view, gourmet kitchen, comfiest living room, nicest pool area, best location etc.,etc.) and creating the perfect house. Finally we have found Gary and Cathy Collins' home Le Chemin des Reves on the Col de Gordes. We will be returning in September for the fourth time and know it will feel like returning home!! On a gated property, surrounded by ancient stone walls, with a "borie", an olive grove and a lavender field, the Collinses have created a wonderful private retreat in the midst of a vibrant and endlessly fascinating region of France. Just returned from Provence and a week at Le Chemin Des Reves and what a great time we had. The photos on the website do not provide proper justice to this exquisite property. The villa is outstanding inside and out, the views of the Luberon even better. The location was perfect for quick day trips and the suggestions of local restaurants were outstanding. The owners (Gary and Cathy) caretaker (Beverly) were extremely helpful from start to finish, making this a memorable journey. I'd reserve Les Chemin Des Reves again in a heartbeat.

WOW! I don't expect we'll ever stay at a finer property. Le Chemin des Reves exceeded all of our expectations and for one week, we felt like we were among France's most elite. The home is spacious, immaculate and tastefully done with a superior view. There were quaint little villages and wineries nearby, but we truly looked forward to getting "home" every day to spend time just relaxing around the pool followed by wonderful dinners we cooked in the lovely kitchen. Three couples can easily rent this place and have plenty of room to spend time together or go off and read a book. I think it would be nearly impossible to find a comparable or better rental anywhere in the area. Thanks for a great vacation!

My wife and I spent a week at Le Chemin Des Reves in Sept. 2008. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The house is very well appointed and also extremely well equipped. Three couples could very easily stay at this property with 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. The view is spectacular. My wife and I travel to France quite often and this property is definitely a favorite. We plan to go back to France in the Fall of 2009 with two other couples and our first choice of properties to stay at will be Le Chemin Des Reves. For comfort, view and location it is pretty hard to beat.

Our stay at Le Chemin des Reve far exceded our expectations! We stayed with two other couples and each of us had our own bathroom etc. The view was spectacular and the villa was beautiful, modern and well furnished. The pool and pool house are stunning. We personally loved the veranda and spent much time enjoying meals, conversation, and the great views from there. The property is very close to many charming towns and cities. The open markets and eating establishments represent the rich culture of the Provence region. In our opinion you get a lot of bang for your buck at this marvelous property and it is well worth the money. We can't wait to return. We recommend it without reserve.

Three couples from Michigan decided to go to France, and we chose Gary and Cathy's place for our vacation. As others who have stayed there mentioned, the photos do not do justice for the home or the surrounding sites. The home is equipped beautifully and we took full advantge of the great kitchen, and the pool house barbecue. We cooked several meals on the barbecue and had our dinner in the in pool house whilst enjoying a great fall night in Provence. Eating great food purchased from the local markets, drinking outstanding wine from the area, enjoying wonderful sightseeing trips through the French countryside, that is about all we did, and we will go back to Cathy and Gary's home and do it again. My wife and I, our two boys (13 and 10 yo) and our childminder stayed in this superb property for two week this August. We have rented about twenty properties over the years in France, Italy, Spain, England, Ireland and the U.S. and this one was, quite simply , the best. A wonderful amount of effort has gone into the infrastrucure and fit-out - electric gates, roomy bathrooms, ceiling fans, wi-fi, satellite TV, a small but well judged library of books/DVDs/CDs, the most perfectly equipped kitchen, additional 'fridges, comfortable pool-house and so on. This is all done in the most practical and understated way with a modern, clean feel superimposed on a traditional vernacular. The site is excellent with total privacy, a wonderful view and extensive rambling grounds, including a lavender field, great pool, a badminton/boules area and bories. There is also an extremely helpful English local contact (Beverly)who is there at check-in and check-out and available to help at any time, eg she had booked a very local restaurant for us for the evening of our arrival which avoided us flapping around and stressing ourselves out. The surrounding area is fascinating with an excess of sight-seeing/dining/activity options and we all loved it. This property is an absolute credit to its owners and a great example of someone planning carefully to create the perfect result. I strongly recommend this property and would rent it again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I spent a week at the Chemin des Reves with our two teenagers beginning of August and all of us couldn't have been happier. Cathy and Gary have added so many thoughtful details that all we had to do was enjoy our stay. We could start each day full of energy as the beds are so comfortable and the showers spacious and so clean with lots of water pressure, great towels too. Breakfast and lunch either outside on the porch (teak furniture, no flimsy plastic here) or in the dining room if it was too hot outside. The kitchen was perfect, the gas stove at the right height, enough space in two refrigerators and the dishwasher made life easy. Yes, we used the great barbeque in the poolhouse in the evening in spite of all the restaurants nearby and were taken in by the great view and the shooting stars - and of course we played endless games of boule! During the day we spent lots of time in the refreshing pool (it was HOT outside) and were grateful for the picturesque shutters which kept out the sun and the heat from the house. The location is perfect for short tours through the hills - be it to lavender fields, historic towns or just crazy curvy roads for those who love 'real' driving. If you do not know where to go, there are plenty of suggestions in several ring binders. We were grateful for the internet connection, which worked perfectly. Beverly was very helpful before, during and after our stay - she just mailed our son's favorite T-shirt which he had forgotten by the pool chairs! All in all we did not feel like we were in a summer rental, but rather guests at somebody's home.

Perfect Provence

Date of Stay: 07/26/08 Review Submitted: 08/05/08

Our family enjoyed a perfect stay at Le Chemin Des Reves. It was our dream trip. Now that our children are grown and moved away it's difficult to spend "quality" time with them. The villa was perfect for our visit. It's important to us for everyone to have their own "space" within the villa. The pool was wonderful and we used it alot - swimming under the stars of Provence is now on our list of favorite things to do. Gordes is centrally located to many, many interesting, wonderful towns, markets, lavendar fields, great restaurants and gorgeous views. We took advantage of it all. I would recommend this villa to everyone. It was beautifully furnished, and well equiped. It truly is a "dream house". It was a little further into Gordes then we expected and with a baby stroller, we didn't feel comfortable walking on the road but even driving into town wasn't bad because there was always ample parking just a few hundred meters away. Having wifi was nice too - we used it to map out routes and research things in the area although the information provided and books available at the villa where our best source. Whatever you do . . make sure you have dinner at the Restaurant Gouin in Coustelett!! Wonderful! Thanks again for sharing your dream with us.

We spent two wonderful weeks at this beautiful house in June, 2008. We looked at many houses in Provence for two months before we decided on Le Chemin des Reves and all our work was well worth it. We were a family of four. My husband and I, our 16 year old son and 35 year-old daughter. This house exceeded our expectations. The pictures on the internet do not do the house justice. The location is very private (we all loved the electric gate and felt quite special when driving up to the entrance) and the location is extremely quiet. The view from the house at night was amazing. We loved sitting out on the porch at night to just enjoy the view. The closest neighbors were about 75 meters away and we never heard anyone near us. The house itself is georgous! It is much bigger than we anticipated. It is definitely 3,000 sq. ft. of living space. We found that we could each have our own space but could also enjoy time together at the dining room table and livingroom. The kitchen has every item that anyone would want. In fact, there were several sets of different dishes, pots and pans, cutting boards, etc. The kitchen was big enough for two people to easily work at the same time. We used the extra refrigerator off the kitchen for our water, wine and soda. A wonderful washer and dryer was in this location also. Everyone having their own bathroom was great so no waiting in line. There was plenty of hot water. The beds were comfortable and we all slept very well. The pool was great but since it was rather cool when we were there we only swam once, but we sat out quite often. Our son enjoyed grilling in the pool house in the evening. No matter what the weather is, there are beautiful areas to sit and enjoy the view. We had never been to this area before. We loved our daily exploring of the villages and markets. We went to a different market every day. We especially enjoyed Gordes which is a few minutes by car up the hill. My first look at Gordes actually took my breath away. As my son said, "There is no way to explain how beautiful it is." The Collins' have decorated their house with lovely furniture. From the very comfortable leather chairs in the den to the beautiful white leather couches and chair in the livingroom. The atmosphere of the house is a warm country provencial. The owners were a treat to deal with and Beverly is fantastic. This villa was too good to be true. Everything about it was magical. We spent a week there with our adult children and found it to be far more than we expected, and we expected a great deal. There was not a thing wrong with the villa, except the photos do not really do justice to the property and home. I would recommend this incredible estate to anyone, families, couples or friends, as the most delightful possible way to see and be in Provence. With a car to tour around all the amazing sites, and to get to Gordes in less than five minutes, we found that we were loving every minute, and only to come home to an absolutely incredible estate. We were overwhelmed. Enjoy. Thanks to the owners.

Although we never found her luggage, Beverly was wonderful in helping us in any way she could. (Love ya Babe!) Anyone is more than welcome to contact me with questions. I know how difficult it can be to spend money on a property you do not know. But, you will not be disappointed in renting this house.

Hi Cathy and Gary, Well, we’ve now been home from France for almost two weeks and are fully back into the swing of “normal” living – and of course it is not nearly as wonderful as being in Provence. All of us had a great time and despite the not always perfect weather, the petrol and train strikes we loved our stay. And being at your house made the holiday a really memorable one. When we were looking for a house to rent for our holiday there were a few things we knew we wanted: modern amenities, a secure pool for Kate, and a lovely location. We chose your house because it looked ideal in those respects; the locked gate and fence around the pool were hugely important to us as Kate is just 20 months old. The view from the house was gorgeous and we even had a few spectacular sunsets. The house was perfect for us in so many ways – the “kids” had the master suite which gave them the room they needed for Kate and all her “stuff”, and as the bathroom had the only tub (for bathing Kate) in the house it made great sense for David, Yvonne and Kate to be there. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and the rest of the house was spacious and warm.It was great to have a house where we knew we had all the modern amenities – the kitchen, the den with the satellite tv,the washer and dryer was very, very welcome, having a young toddler with us; and David was extremely happy to have the wireless internet as he needed to stay in touch with his company. And having all of the services included in the rental cost was great as well – the less we had to “think” about the better the holiday!! We did manage a few short “visits” and “splashes” on two days and Scott braved the cool to actually do laps on two days. Kate loved the pool rings and floats and the other toys in the pool house. She loved running around the garden, in and out of the gazebo, and “watering” the plants. We spent most of our days exploring Gordes and the neighbouring villages as well as traveling to Avignon and Aix-en-Provence and we consulted your “information book” daily – the guide to markets was particularly helpful as well as the other information on restaurants and activities. The restaurants in Gordes and the other towns were great and we had some fabulous meals. Beverly was terrific – from the beginning of the rental process right through to our last day she was a treat to deal with. You are fortunate to have her managing your home – she was always warm, fr

We spent a week in this lovely home with our two teenagers, and I must say that the house was as equally wonderful a part of our experience as the beauty of Provence. The house is designed to give you LOTS of comfortable space, breathtaking views of the valleys and mountains, and every possible convenience has been provided for you. Every time you think, "Oh, it would be nice to have ...", well, you discover it's already there for you. The kitchen is a 4-star kitchen right down to the beautiful copper pots and pans. The master bedroom surprises with its own living room with fireplace and dining area. The location is superb for exploring with charming, historical villages 5, 15, 30 minutes away. There are wonderful bakeries, markets and amazing restaurants nearby in all directions. Our kids loved the pool, and it's exquisite lit up at night. Beverly, the agent, will accomodate you in any way possible. This home made our trip a vacation we will always remember: evenings on the terrace looking at the moon and stars, croissant and marketplace fruits on the terrace in the mornings, afternoon swims after our daily car trips, hanging out in the den listening to the great CD collection with our kids, cooking in that great kitchen ... the best way to describe this house is to say that these owners have done everything top-notch with attention to every detail. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

What a fantastic house. We stayed for 2 weeks with our 2 children and we cannot recommend both the home and Beverly (the agent) enough. The owners of this lovely property really care that their guests have as complete a vacation as they do when staying at the house. The effort that has gone into the development and furnishing (right down to the sun hats on the hat stand as you exit on a hot day) is obvious. Many congratulations on such a lovely Provincial home and thank you so much, Beverly, for your help. We will be back again and again. The McGregors

My family of 5 (including 3 children) stayed at Chemin Des Reves in early July. Wow. We give our highest marks possible. We are looking forward to visiting again. From its location near Gordes, you can use this lovely home as your base camp to explore the many small villages of this bucolic and pastoral region. The property is surrounded by densely packed trees and is very private. The landscaping is beautiful and magnified by the wonderful pool, pool house, sitting areas and walkways. The photos from the website do not accurately reflect the view, which is enough to take your breath away. The interior of the house is smartly appointed and adds to the charm of this vacation home. The owners have compiled a book of favorite restaurants, vineyards and sites together with precise instructions on every aspect of Chemin Des Reves. This coupled with the wonderfully friendly caretaker will make your stay stress free and a most memorable experience. I cannot say enough about this place and I can smell the lavender and see the sunsets right now as I am concluding this message. Le Meiux.

My husband and I had the most fantastic 2 weeks in Chemin des Reves. It is so perfectly situated on the hill below the village and equidistant to all the most beautiful villages in Provence. The home is perfect, with all you need in terms of accomodation, equipment,BBQ area, a great CD collection and a great pool,( even though we found the stony surround hard on our feet.) The veiws are spectacular. The most important asset is Beverley Ferris the agent who goes out of her way to make your stay a pleasure. We hired bikes from Bonnieux and rode the entire area and also did walks from the house to the Abbey outside Gordes and also went on the GR6 to Rousillon. The housebook that has been put together by the owner is fantastic with good reccommendations to restaurants and places of interest in the area. Enjoy this special area...we loved it
