Our home is located on Harstine Island, in the Hartstene Pointe community on the north end of the island. Harstine Island is a large, forested island near Shelton, Washington, accessible from Route 3 between Bremerton and Shelton. The island is rural with abundant wildlife and a quiet, peaceful feeling.

Hartstene Pointe is the only large community on the island (about 300 homes), and offers a number of amenities available to all residents and guests. The Pointe community offers privacy and respite as well as the option to enjoy others. Harstene Pointe offers friendliness, security, and many amenities: beaches, picnic facilities, tennis courts, exercise area, heated spa and pool (summer only), trails, clubhouse with Ping-Pong, billiards, games, and a library. If you have a boat, there are two marinas nearby, and public launch facilities. Feel free to participate in the community and enjoy its amenities, or simply enjoy the solitude of our home and its setting.

Open living and dining area with woodburning stove. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and utensils, An electric stove, gas grill, and microwave provide a variety of cooking options. There is a small bedroom on the main floor with a queen-size futon. The upstairs loft has a queen-size bed and an alcove sleeping area that will accommodate sleeping bags nicely. The futon couch in the living room also converts to a queen-size bed. The bathroom is located on the main flower and has a shower. The deck overlooks the wooded ravine where you are likely to see deer, raccoons, a variety of birds and the occasional red fox. (Please note that feeding the animals is strictly prohibited.) Our home is located a short walk (less than one mile), drive or bike ride to the beach.

Our home is ideal as a base from which you can explore the Olympic Peninsula, the old logging town of Shelton, picturesque Hood Canal, Fort Townsend, Olympia, Bremerton, and Tacoma. Seattle is accessible by ferry. Many people enjoy collecting clams, oysters, crabs, salmon, and other sea creatures, while others like to explore the mountains, trails, and "rainforest" of the Olympic Peninsula. For the occasional meal out, there are several restaurants in Shelton and Belfair, both only 15 minutes away. For fine dining, there are many choices in Olympia and Tacoma. Shelton and Belfair also have Safeway and QFC as well as other shopping options and antiques. Whether you are looking for a forest retreat, a base camp, or a variety of nearby activities, our home is an ideal choice.
