My family was looking for a place to get away and unwind. This house provided a peacefull and enjoyable setting for us to unwind and relax. The home had everything we needed and was a short walking distance to the beach. There were no issues with arrival or departure and the owner was very accomodating to a last minute schedule change for me and my family. We will be back again!

Brookings Vacation House

We rented the house based on the pictures shown in the listing. We were looking for a pretty, upscale home for a retreat we gave as a gift for some special ladies. Was the listing description accurate regarding the location? No. The listing said the furniture was new. I can't imagine this furniture was purchased recently. The kitchen was listed as having "everything you could ever need." We had to go purchase some basic pyrex, I would have thought a 9x13 pan to be included. We donated several purchased basic kitchen items, so that the next person would not have the same problem. The listing said new smoke detectors, the first two nights we were awoken at 2 in the morning to a malfunctioning smoke detector. Did the listing photos accurately reflect the rental’s appearance and amenities? Sort of. The inside of the house was almost identical to the pictures. The outside was not. We rented during the owners "peak" season and paid season rates. The outside was largely overgrown, had not been landscaped or trimmed in some time, and I would highly recommend google image searching the address before you book. The curb appeal is pretty dreary. It is surround by chain fence in the front, surrounded by trailers, run down houses, etc... The pictures are very carefully taken to hide all of that. Was the property clean and well-maintained? The inside was clean, but it is an old house and has some of the concerns that come with that. Was the owner helpful in answering your questions or concerns? We had to check in late as the tenants before us checked out at 2:00. The owner explained this to us, and told us we could check out at 2:00. Then on check out day, called us, extremely agitated at 11:15 and ended up yelling at us to leave immediately, was extremely rude and unprofessional. It was a really disappointing way to end the stay. We packed up as quickly as we could, were out in 40 minutes, called the owner to let him know and the rant continued. Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative? No. The house is nice enough, but the pictures led us to believe that it was much more upscale than it actually is. It's an old house, quaint and pleasant inside, very odd layout, (we had lots of bumped heads, and we're not that tall) dreary looking outside, (nothing like photos) but maybe it would be better when landscaping is maintained. Overall, the owner losing it at the end was just too much. I would not stay there again.

Recently my daughters, their families and I--eight in all--stayed at this lovely beach home. We LOVED it! It was neat and clean and had plenty of beds and relaxing spaces for everyone to be comfortable. My four-year-old granddaughter had a lot of fun in the little toy room and the bigger kids really enjoyed all of the activities in the game room. The gas barbecue and patio were great for relaxing with great food outside. The only minor downside was the lack of a dishwasher, but we had plenty of hands to take care of that issue. The house is close enough to walk to the beach and everything you need is provided. I would highly recommend this beach rental!

We had a great weekend in Brookings. This house was comfortable and clean. We will absolutely be returning next year! Huge bonus that they had the speed channel and we were able to watch the supercross race! Thank you!

The house was extremely charming. The amount of rooms available for multiple guests was excellent. It would be a great house for a family type reunion, alot of area for adults and children. I dealt with the owner who was always available and very accomodating.

My review on this home is excellent. The house was very clean and had everything you would need, just like home. The kids had a blast with the big back yard and the game room. The house is unique with rooms leading everywhere quite fun. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to be comfortable and it is only a 5 minute drive to seashore. After a long week of traveling throughout Oregon and moving from hotel to hotel, your home was a comfortable and relaxing place to kick back for a week. We greatly enjoyed the 4th of July fireworks display and had delicious meals at the hungry clam and the Blue water café and lounge. We took a few pleasant walks to the beach and built a bonfire one night. Our only day tip was to the Oregon caves, which is a rough drive but well worth it – phenomenally beautiful. Other than that we spent our days lounging around our 4 kids aged 4,6,10 and 13 got a lot of use from the playroom and game room. And the spacious backyard was wonderful for soccer and volleyball. The boys loved the darts and shuffleboard too. Thanks for everything!

We had a wonderful stay in Brookings. The house was great, the kids enjoyed exploring all of the nooks and crannies. The owners are very nice over the phone. The play room was fun, especially since it rained all day on Saturday. It was awesome to be able to walk down to the Harbor and there always seemed to be something going on down there. However, we are spoiled, and no dishwasher, is not fun with a big group. We had a few heads bang into the low ceilings, but that wasn't a problem for me, since I'm short.

We had a very nice stay. Oldest son really liked the largest bedroom and the wet bar area upstairs. He called it the upstairs kitchen. I would recommend....

We wish we would have booked the house for a longer period of time. We were really enjoying the house, the great yard, and we picked the perfect time of year to be in Brookings. The flowers were spectacular and we hit wonderful weather. It was so nice to be able to take our four-legged friends and with the use of a child gate, they could be confined to the kitchen. They absolutely had a ball in the big fenced yard. Great, comfortable place to stay and we want to go again.

Great Quilting Retreat!

Six of us who quilt rented this lovely home over a year ago! It was perfect, only a mile to the beach, lots of space in the dining room to set up our sewing machines and each of us had our own bed! The backyard is quite and very relaxing. I always wanted to bring my family here and now it's finally happening! We just booked a quick getaway weekend for this June. The owners are easy to reach (they actually answer their phone, unlike other rental owners). I can't wait for my 1 1/2 year old granddaughter to see the pantry/playroom with it's pretend kitchen for her to play with. My older grandsons will LOVE the game room with the foosball table! And the owners are dog lovers, so we get to bring our pet! I can relax knowing that everyone will be comfortable in the very "warm" feeling home. When they say they take last minute bookings, they mean it. The calendar is always up to date. I will write another review when we return in a few weeks.

One block to the beach. It has a great game room for the kids/adults with all kinds of fun things to do. Plenty of sleeping for even bigger groups with nice comfortable beds. Wonderful backyard for the kids to play in & a patio for the adults to enjoy. The owner was a really easy guy to reach & communicate with either by phone or e-mail. I have already told others about it. We happen to go when the perch fishing was perfect & caught our limit at a near by beach.

Spent Spring Break in Brookings. We were two families with girls ages 7 to 12. They loved playing hide and seek at this house and the movie room upstairs was a great spot for them to chill in the evenings. The game room in the garage was nice, probably would have spent more time there if it was warmer. There is just one shower in the house so we had to make sure the girls showered at night and us adults showered in the morning. The owners of this house were very easy to communicate with and always responded to my emails within a few hours. While you are in Brookings make sure you go have a bowl of clam chowder at the The Hungry Clam!!

Great house near the beach - ideal place for family reunion

We loved the house and location. It had everything we needed - well supplied kitchen, lots of games, terrific garage game room, large yard. With rain the first 2 days we discovered the Brookings bowling alley and cinema and lots of shops !! Then the sun came out and we enjoyed the beach (with warm coats), the beautiful overlooks in the state park, the redwoods, and even watched the last sunset of 2011 on the beach near the house. We had kids from age 4 to 18 plus assorted adults, including 2 grandmas. Fun time for all !

*****Guest Book Comments***** Thank you for a wonderful stay. We did all the fun touristy things. The weather was great. Got sunburnt one day. The dog loved you backyard. It was great haveing it fenced so he could run and play. Mario pinball was really fun. Brookings is a delightful town.
