The landscape around the loch is quite stunning in all seasons and makes an ideal base for walking, bird watching, fishing, photography or simply relaxing. For nature lovers there is an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep, including deer, ospreys, grouse, pine martins, red squirells and much more.
There are plenty of activities available locally for those of a more active disposition, boats and bicycles are available to hire from the nearby activity centre. There are golf courses at the nearby towns of Pitlochry and Aberfeldy. Pony trekking is offered at nearby Blair Castle and the village of Kenmore.
The Setting: Loch Rannoch lies in the very heart of Scotland, surrounded by beautiful high mountains, forests and moorland with the great expanse of the Loch stretching east and west. Justifiably designated 'A National Scenic Area', the landscape around Loch Rannoch is quite stunning in all seasons and makes an ideal base for the walker, birdwatcher, photographer, and indeed for those of a more active disposition. The Loch itself has a circumference of some 26 miles and is renowned for the quality of its fishing, most notably its wild brown trout. There are also pike, perch and char. Liarn Farm offers stunning views over the Loch towards the Black Wood of Rannoch, amongst the last remnants of the Caledonian Forest which covered most of Scotland some 2000 years ago. The mystical Schiehallion (the Fairy Hill of the Caledonians) at 3553 feet, is despite its daunting look, surprisingly one of the easier Munros to 'bag'.
Activites: Outdoor pursuits on offer in the vicinity are plentiful and include golfing, rock climbing, hill walking, mountain climbing, white water rafting, canoeing, sailing, wind surfing, cycling and pony trekking. Boats and bicycles are available to rent locally. Pitlochiy, Aberfeldy, Blair Atholl, Perth and Inverness are all within easy driving distance. Local golf courses at Aberfeldy, Blair Attholl, Kenmore, Taymouth Castle and Pitlochry.
We have a pets corner where the children can help hand feed the chickens & ducks, help collect the eggs, pet the rabbits & Shetland ponies, the Jacobs sheep love digestive biscuits! There is a small Lochan for fishing within the woods of Liarn. Fishing on the Loch Rannoch is from shore or boat (permit required).

The Highland Estate of Liarn enjoys an enviable setting approximately half way along the north shore of Loch Rannoch, boasting panoramic views southward over the Loch to the Black Wood beyond. The farm dates from 1837, covering an area of some 243 acres of which approximately 182 acres are of natural mixed woodland with a high proportion of birch, open areas of scrub, moor and wetland. The colours in Autumn are simply glorious, as can be imagined. The woods lend themselves to a quiet, leisurely ramble and are for the sole use of Liarn Farm residents. There is a small well stocked Lochan (small Loch) within the woods. Fishing on the Lochan and Liarn Farms Loch frontage are included in the rental. There is a pets corner where children can help feed the ducks and chickens, collect the eggs and see the sheep, rabbit, and ponies. A local activity centre offers a range of activities including boat and cycle hire, white water rafting and much more. Golf courses in Aberfeldy and Pitlochry.
