Great family retreat

Guest: Hugh and family (Lewiston, Idaho USA)
Date of Stay: 07/16/11 Review Submitted: 08/11/11

Les Plaines was an excellent choice for our 2 week family reunion. The rustic exterior belies a thoroughly modern interior with all the conveniences of a well appointed residence. The secluded swimming pool, the breathtaking views of the Luberon and the overall ambience of the place simply must be experienced to be fully appreciated. The well stocked local convenience store where we went daily for bread, pastries, etc treated us like locals. Beverly was extremely attentive and helpful before and throughout our visit. We left Les Plaines reluctantly and we would return in a heartbeat!

Great family vacation

Dear Beverly, We had great vacation and had a safe trip back. This is the place you want to take a family vacation! The house is great, well equipped , clean and located in the best possible place. Murs is a beautiful little town in the middle of the Lavender country. We took day trips to several attractions and the central location of the house allow us to return on time and still enjoy the gorgeous private pool. Beverly was always there to help and advise! Thank you for a great time. Yours Achi

We, a family of four adults and two children, have just returned from two weeks at Les Plaines. If you read all the positive reviews and tripple the reponses, you will have a very good notion of the house. Any negative reviews should be resolutely disregarded. The house is large, commodius and works well for a group. There are spaces for everyone to have privacy to read, to sun or swim. It is a great retreat after a full day of investigating all the coutryside around. Cheers to Beverly!!

Hi Beverly, I just wanted to write a quick note to say thank you so much! The week was amazing! The house was so wonderful. Thank you so much for heating the pool. Even though the weather was not so great, we were able to swim everyday with our 3 year old. Even our 11 month old swam in the rain! The house was perfect for the two families. The toys at the house were awesome for the kids because they always love new toys (even though we brought some too). The chef Cosette was wonderful and Natalie was great too. It was the trip of a lifetime! Thanks again! Chaise and family

Wonderful Stay!

Date of Stay: 05/21/11 Review Submitted: 06/08/11

If you are looking for a spacious home with the most GORGEOUS view, look no further. We are a family of four that rented this lovely home in May of 2011. Although we knew the home would have too many bedrooms for us, both the view and the pool attracted us to rent. We were not disappointed in any way at all! In fact, the pool was so nice, it was difficult to leave to go site seeing. My husband and I loved sitting on the porch with a glass of wine, just taking in the view. The home is located in the very small town of Murs, which is very close to Gordes. You will definitely need a car to get around for site seeing. We enjoyed Gordes, Avignon, St. Remy, Les Baux, and an overnight stay to Carcassonne and the Cathar castles - Queribus and Peyrepertuse. A very long drive, but highly recommended (not with small children). Beverly was absolutely wonderful to work with from beginning to end. If we needed anything, she was there to help us. I only hope our paths will cross again in life because we did not have enough time to get to know each other more. The house was very clean and fresh flowers were right outside our window sills. We were welcomed with a bottle of local wine and chocolates to help celebrate our 30th anniversary. I would highly recommend this property. Our two older children were traveling with us, ages 23 and 19 years old, and although there is not much night life here, we all enjoyed ourselves immensely!

This is a gorgeous location, and a lovely house. The house is very comfortable, with a modern, well-equipped kitchen and great living spaces. Every was in working order, the rooms were clean with nice bedding. Lots of toys for the kids and books and movies for the adults. But the location is truly magnificent. The photos do not do justice to the amazing view from the terrace. Beverly was very attentive, checking in on us to make sure we didn't need anything. Murs is a sweet village, but Gordes, a few minutes away, is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Even in the winter this vacation was fantastic. We hope to be back soon. - Roberta and Sean, Salem, MA, U.S.A.

October 3 -10 2010 Rental

Guest: Mary (Florida USA)
Date of Stay: 10/03/10 Review Submitted: 10/23/10

We have rented many times through VRBO (and 6 times in Europe) and so have some basis for comparison. This house was a disappointment to us. The location is as advertised and truly great, but the house itself is in need of maintenance. The roof was leaky and caused a suitcase in one bedroom to get wet. The patio area was in need of cleanup and the pool was not useable until Thursday because it needed to be vacuumed. Several of the bedrooms did not have adequate space for removing clothing from suitcases which is something we like about staying in a place for a week...we get to unpack. The lighting inside the house was such that it was difficult to find a place to sit and read which several in our party wanted. We thought that a coffee pot that only made 2 cups at a time was not really appropriate for a five bedroom house. We were able to easily (and inexpensively) buy one, but were disappointed in the response we got when when we inquired about the lack of one. This kind of got us off to a bad start.

Owner response:We take pride in presenting a well maintained, clean house and grounds for our guests to enjoy when they are visiting Provence. While these guest were with us there was a very intense and violent thunderstorm which caused an unusual amount of leaves and limbs to come from the surrounding trees. Our beautiful pool is maintained weekly by local professionals from April to end of October, it also has a cover over it in the Fall. We are very sorry that these guests had a less than satisfactory experience and hope that they will return one day to this magnificent part of the Provence.

Comfortable, quiet, convenient

Guest: Ron (Tulsa OK)
Date of Stay: 09/27/10 Review Submitted: 10/11/10

Myself and three friends, all busy professionals, enjoyed our week stay at Les Plaines immensely. The house met the VRBO description and was clean and maintained. It had everything we needed and our VRBO representative, Beverly, was very helpful. We arranged with her to have a delicious and plentiful meal to be brought in on our arrival night as we were all tired from the transatlantic travel. Murs and the area around the house was very peaceful and quiet. Perfect for lounging and reading or taking walks to the town and through the small neighborhoods. The pool looked very inviting but we did not take advantage of it. From Murs, it is a short drive to Roussillon, Apt, and Gordes. A little farther to St Remy de Provence and Isle sur la Sorgue. Bevery supplied us with a schedule of all the local market days, so we just made the schedule our itinerary. We dined at the Clos Gustave and La Ferme de la Huppe, both of which Beverly had recommended and we were very satisfied. We also discovered a huge supermarket in Coustelet (20 mins) which supplied us with all our needs. I would definitely stay at Les Plaines again and recommend it to anyone going to that area of Provence.

A Wonderful Family Holiday

Guest: Sue (British Columbia, Canada)
Date of Stay: 09/11/10 Review Submitted: 11/10/10

Our family of 7 adults and 2 preschoolers had a wonderful 2 week holiday here in Sept 2010. The location allowed us to sightsee a different area for 14 days. We went to The Med, the beautiful villages of The Luberon, The Vaucluse, Mount Ventoux, Avignon, Orange etc. The view from the patio was exceptional. The house worked very well for our family and many hours were spent in the gorgeous swimming pool. It was the highlight for our 4 year old grandson! He also enjoyed the many toys left by the other renters. It was convenient for us to have the highchair and the crib. The property was very clean and maintained and it was great having Beverly so close, as she seemed to be able to answer any questions. It was a holiday that we will all remember and we have already recommended the house to friends and family.

August in Provence

We had a wonderful time at this lovely, well-kept chateau. The house is well-laid out, the pool well maintained (with many pool toys and floats), the chairs/sofas comfortable. The property was clean and well maintained. The different areas to sit outside were all picturesque, the views over the Luberon stunning. Driving to small local towns was easy, and each had it's own flair. The information left by the caretaker is thorough and helpful. The house is a wonderful place to vacation - we did so with children aged 7 to 16 - and it works for them, and would work with adults only. Highly recommended!

We love this house and can't wait to return!

Date of Stay: 07/31/10 Review Submitted: 10/26/10

This is the second year running that we have had the great pleasure of staying at Les Plaines and once again we had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and very well maintained by the fabulous Beverly. It is clean and extremely comfortable and perfect for our needs. The kitchen is very well equipped, the washing machine works well and whilst I would avoid laundry on holiday if I could (no chance with a baby) it is made better by the fabulous view of the Luberon when pegging it out! We have three young children who love the toy cupboard, the DVD collection, the bikes and, of course, the pool! Perhaps more importantly, we love the fact that it is so safe for them. There are gates to the front of the property and across the back terrace which effectively gives them a big, safe area to play in and crucially means we don't need to monitor them constantly but can instead relax ourselves! We were joined by friends and extended family for much of our stay and spent many a lazy evening on the terrace enjoying good food and wine and never tiring of the magnificent view. This is indeed a special place, made all the more so by Beverly who is kind and accommodating and does all she can to make her guests feel at home. For instance she did a shop for us so that (instead of dragging the children round the supermarket after our 7 hour journey) we could jump straight in the pool, something that was appreciated by all 5 of us! We know we have found a perfect holiday villa in a beautiful region of France and have already rebooked for next year!

Best equipped, most gorgeous place we've ever rented

Our extented family of nine from the states, including two teenage boys, and three younger children, stayed for one week in this beautiful home and loved every minute of it. Beverly, the manager arranged for a dinner to be delivered the night we arrived. We heated the dinner up in the beautiful kitchen and dined outside that night and every night. The view is spectacular and the pool proved to be the favorite spot for all, as it was very hot every day. Walks into town, cooking in the well equiped kitchen, shopping in the markets, kayaking on the Sorgue and horseback riding (arranged by and accompanied by Beverly!) were all highlights of the trip. On our second night, Beverly stopped by to welcome us and answer any questions and then stayed for dinner, which was a delight. The house itself looked new. Every bedroom was spotless, comfortable, modern bathrooms, nice sheets, comfy beds, great soaps, hairdryers, even cleaning supplies. The kitchen had any pot or pan we needed. Prior to arriving,we sent Beverly a list of groceries and they were all waiting for us the night we arrived. The following day, (Sun) the small grocery store in town was closed, so we were happy we were stocked up for a few days. Our afternoons were spent reading books from their fantastic library, walking into town, swimming and simply enjoying the house. We all had plenty of room to spread out.

This was truly the way to go for Provence...renting a house and this house was perfect. A wonderful view looking out over the Luberon Valley, so relaxing and fun to come home to. The pool is wonderful and heated, we swam almost everyday. The house has a great set up..the living room and dining room are very large and comfortable, the kitchen has it's own separate courtyard with a table and chairs, and the bedrooms are in two different sections of the house. Three have the view and one of those has an en suite full bath and the other two share a bath. Then there are another two bedrooms at the front of the house with a full bath plus a separate WC. Beverly is lovely to work with, so helpful in every way...just a phone call away. Plus, it is very helpful for those of us that do not speak French that she is from England therefore understands "us". Thank you again Beverly for all your help to make our trip such a wonderful memory. We will definitely be back.Pat, Dan and Daniel

Perfect Provencal home

As one of our group said, this home is where heaven meets earth. Each of us still longs to be in this beautiful, comfortable home above Gordes with spectacular views of the Luberon. Indoor and outdoor spaces, especially the two terrace dining areas and the large swimming pool, are totally inviting. The generous owners have offered a completely equipped and tastefully decorated home. We felt more like guests in a special estate than renters. All of the bedrooms are comfortable; the bathrooms are clean and modern; the kitchen is incredibly well equipped and fun to use. Because we experienced the Mistral early in our stay, we happily enjoyed the huge "great room," where we read by a fire, tackled an ongoing puzzle and watched some of the owners' films. One of us walked into the closest village each morning for a baguette and newspaper. All four of us explored nearby areas on foot, including a long walk toward Joucas. We loved going to different village markets to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, olives, cheese, sliced ham and more. The location is perfect for discovering a number of nearby hilltop towns. We also were grateful that friendly and caring Beverly was our contact. She made sure we had a smooth and pleasant welcome and offered to make dinner reservations or request a prepared meal for our first night. She provided helpful information about the equipment in the house and nearby sites, stores and restaurants. Beverly ensured that we had an enjoyable stay. But one week was not enough time to fully experience all that this home and its location offer. We hope to return.

We visited Murs with our extended family for a 60th birthday and retirement. Had a wonderful time. Really enjoyed the house. Tons of space, very comfortable and fabulous view. Pool was lovely, even in October! Beverley could not have been more helpful, even to the point of organizing birthday cakes and babysitters. Everything was ready for us to move right in. Could not recommend the house and experience enough. Alistair and Mary (and family)

We spent the second half of August at Les Pleines and had the most wonderful time! The view is breathtaking right from early morning when you might see a hot air balloon drifting across the sky through dusk when the sunset can be magical and into the night when the stars are spectacular. The pool is the best we have ever had with a holiday villa, our children took full advantage of the floats and other pool toys and we loved the fact that it was so safe (no worries about little ones being able to access it) and heated - perfect for night swimming! The house is very well equipped, extremely comfortable and perfect for families with young children. Indeed it was so lovely that we have re-booked for next year, the highest recommendation we can give.

Les Plaines is an oasis of cool, calmness and tranquillity. It has everything to make a good holiday comfortable, effortless and stress free. The house lies in its own extensive grounds, has total privacy and is not overlooked. It is very spacious, being well designed, and cleverly laid out to make both indoor and outdoor living convenient – even to the extent of having 2 patios to get the best of the weather or for large gathering or for more intimate breakfasts. It. The house is cool when hot outside and yet retains warmth in the coolness of the evenings and nights.. Even the car port gives welcome relief from the often sweltering sun meaning that your car does not “cook”. The view across the Luberon from the main patio is sensational and you will never tire of it. Being on the edge of the village, and hence the hill, means that the house gets welcome breezes across the valley. The living areas are very prettily furnished, roomy with ample seating/lounging areas and if needed have all the things that make evenings go by, like TV, DVD, CD , Ipod and even VHS! If your French is not good, they even provide access to Sky news! The kitchen is a joy to work in and lacks for nothing with good appliances and utensils. It is very classily furnished and easy to use.The bedrooms are all well furnished with comfy beds and the baths and showers all work and have good, quality fittings. The swimming pool is a great size, and the salt water filtration system is a joy. Its location is a gorgeous sun trap and it lies in the lee of the cliff so is sheltered from the breezy mistrals. The local shop 200m from the house is great (has boulangerie, charcuterie and du vin) and is run by very friendly people. We really cannot say enough good about this house – we were there on our honeymoon and loved every minute of it. Peace, comfort and isolation – just what we wanted and needed! Would we go back there with friends or a group? – yes, without any doubt! And on top of everything, dear Beverley is there to manage the property and to help you when you are not sure.. She welcomed us warmly, answered every dumb question willingly and bade us farewell fondly – what more could we ask for?!

We just returned last night from a most wonderful week in Provence. Though the lovely weather and location in the midst of fabulous villages certainly helped, the best part of our trip was our house. Last August Beverly started guiding us through the process of choosing a house, reassuring us, and making us very excited. Everything she promised was true, and more. We were six (grandparents, parents and 2 children) and the house accommodated us perfectly. The pool was a huge hit of course as was the well-stocked kitchen, hot showers, comfortable beds, cool and comfortable public rooms and the walking-distance proximity to croissants, pain au chocolat, coffee and our daily Herald Tribune. Our final conversation with Beverly was to talk about returning next year, which is the best testimony we can offer!

What an amazing week in Provence. Our mouths dropped open as Beverly, our wonderful host, showed us around the home. The first thing to capture our attention was the spectacular veranda that looked over endless miles of valleys and villages...we have never experienced a better view. The home was perfectly equipped with a gourmet kitchen, huge living room, spectacular dining area (that looked upon the veranda and stunning views)all the bedrooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated. The icing on the cake was the amazing private pool which was surrounded by beautiful landscaping. Honestly, this was one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed and would highly recommend it. Beverly was wonderful helping us get around the Luberon and providing lots of advice and hints. She was just wonderful.

What doesn't come across from the pictures, is just so well designed the house and surrounding grounds are. The stone work inside and out is just beautifully done, and inside the marble and tile work fit the home beautifully. Our fellow guests all commented and we agree, that we have never seen a kitchen in a rental house so well equipped. Also the pool site is amazing, so classic, so private, and in its hill side setting among the trees, with as much sun or shade as you might want, just any part of the day. Finally the "great room" added last to the Villa was just perfect for varied pursuits such as dominos, reading, or movie watching. We will also never forget Beverly how you responded when we called you that first night at midnight, for what we thought was a boiler problem --a false alarm as it turned out, but that didn't stop you from delaying a planned short holiday to drive the next morning all the way to Murs to check out the problem.

I can't say enough good things about this house. It was clean, comfortable, peaceful, in a great location, well appointed and a perfect family or group house rental. Nothing cheap or "rental" feeling about it! The view from the house is breathtaking and the beauty of this area of Provence can be taken in at all times of the day from the terrace. We couldn't have been happier with this rental. We've been to a lot of vacation rentals, and this was by far the best. Beverly was so helpful, kind, and responsive to our needs. She was a great resource and made our stay so comfortable! If you're looking for a rental in Provence, look no further. This is it!

The House is perfectly positioned in the hills with spectacular views towards Rousillon. It is also in an ideal position for day trips to numerous places in the area. The House itself feels very homely, is well kitted out and is obviously very well looked after. Our kids (3 young ones) thoroughly enjoyed themselves there and were particularly pleased to see all the floats that were left pool-side. If you are looking around for a place to rent then look no further, you will not be disappointed.

Beware of the mosquitoes though - the only downside to a truly superb holiday.

It is a perfect house for 2 couples or a family to share, and it has the advantage of well planned space and terrific views of the countryside. We just returned from staying at this beautiful home in the Luberon area! It was a wonderful, well equipped, beautifully furnished, and strategically located French home! We enjoyed every aspect of the home and its location, as we traveled the countryside and explored the numerous charming French villages. There are fabulous restaurants within walking distance or a short drive and numerous markets to brouse. This is an affordable way to visit France. The heated pool is an added feature. Beverly, the house agent, is particularly helpful and adds special touches! We strongly recommend this home to future guests!

It is difficult to imagine there being a more perfectly situated or appointed home in the entire Luberon. Easily able to accomodate our party of six adults,'Les Plaines' provided everything we were looking for: a decadent level of comfort, room to spend time on your own,a well equiped kitchen, and a dining room & family room big and comfortable enough to afford endless meals and conversation and finally, ready access to the hill top villages of the Luberon. Our stay, which unfortunately only lasted for a week in mid April, was filled with visits to local markets, sumptuous meals and wine lubricated evenings in front of a roaring fire at the end of each day. 'Les Plaines' only draw back was that we eventually had to leave.

Hello Beverly, I've just returned home from my trip to Provence and our stay at Les Plaines. It was a completely wonderful experience. The house was fantastic and was the perfect size for the 6 of us. The area around Murs is so incredibly scenic and even the "less than perfect" weather couldn't dampen the experience. The house has lots of toys and is very safe for the kids - all on one level with a locked gate to the pool. We used the pool almost every day - it was such fun for the children!

What a wonderful month of June we spent here. As a belated 50th anniversary gift, we treated ourselves to a return trip to Provence and invited our children and teenage grandchildren to join us when the young one's school term ended. They did join us after the first 2 weeks and we were pleased that the house comfortably accommodated 3 families totalling 6 adults, 1 grandson and 2 granddaughters. The house exceeded our expectations; this being our first house rental, we asked myriad questions to which Beverly's responses were complete and prompt. She continued to look after our comfort and needs throughout the month. We enjoyed visiting a different village each morning, attending the marche to buy our fresh food, returning in the late afternoon for a swim in the luxurious pool and cooking (mostly barbecuing)our dinners (replete with Rose wine)on the magnificent terrace with views usually reserved for paintings. The house was well situated away from the "madding crowds" of tourists but within easy reach of everyplace we wished to visit. We ranged north to Vaison-la-Romaine and south to the Camargue and east to Vence returning each day to the peaceful sanctuary of the most comfortable house in order to unwind before the next day's adventures. Although we found Provence to be much more crowded and commercial ("touristy") then our experiences 20 years earlier, the people were just as friendly, the sights just as breathtaking, and the smaller hilltop villages as charming and exciting as we recalled. Truly a wonderful house which contributed greatly to a wonderful experience.

This is an amazing house. It has the most spectacular view of the Luberon Valley. In fact, it is a view that you cannot find other than at this house. The house is perfectly designed to take advantage of this incredible feature. I have rented successfully from VRBO in three different countries, and nothing has come close to Les Plaines. The house itself is spacious, very well decorated and has nearly evertying you could possibly need. The kitchen has every appliance, pot and utensil to satisfy true cooks. We loved most travelling to the local village markets, purchasing incredibly fresh food, and cooking wonderful dinners. There are even a whole series of French and Gourmet cookbooks. Eating out on the stone deck area with the most spectacular view of the Luberon Valley is a memory we will all cherish. We loved the pool. It is a great size, includes pool toys for the kids, and has lovely landscaping creating a very natural feel. The kids and the adults spent our afternoons swimming after travelling to nearby villages. The house is centrally located to make day trips to all nearby villages easy and convenient. Several in our group were bikers and they found the location ideal for biking to nearby sites during the day. Murs itself is small, but the little grocery store is a short walk from the house and they have many staples, including great baguettes. They also sell pizzas for a quick meal. We didn't make it to the restaurant in Murs, but the guest book at the house had many favorable reviews. Beverly is incredibly helpful and responive to any question. We travelled in Europe for 3 weeks and our week at the house was the highlight.

For those of you out there trying to decide if Les Plaines is the house for you, wait no more. We stayed there the last week in April, 2007, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the house. We were 3 couples, and the house gave each of us total privacy when we wanted it, and an outstanding place to spend time all together. We each had a full bath of our own, which was a big plus. The furnishings of the house are far nicer than one would ordinarily find in a rental property, giving the house a very warm, loved and welcoming feel and incredibly comfortable. The bathrooms are all modern as well as the kitchen. The pantry was even stocked with some basic things like coffee, teas, sugar, pastas, some canned goods, spices, etc. It was also nice to have both a washing machine and a dryer to use. I recommend asking Beverly for instructions for use if you're not accostomed to using French appliances. As for the location, I was concerned that it was a little far from the things I knew we'd want to go see, however, that wasn't the case at all. We made day trips to all of the major sites in Provence including Avignon (the farthest away and still only took an hour), St. Remy, Les Baux, Gordes, Bonnieux, Menerbes, Isle-sur-Sorgue, Abbye de Sennanque and others. The pool is just lovely, and heated. Unfortunately, we never used it, only because we were always gone during the day, and by the time we got back in the evenings, it was either a just bit too cool or we were just too tired. If we had been there long enough, we would have enjoyed it immensely.By far, the most appealing thing about the property is the stunning view from the back. The entire Luberon valley is spread like the wings of an angel across the back terrace. In the evenings you can see the nearby towns light up like little Christmas trees, and in the mornings, hot air balloons lifting off from the floor of the valley below.Be sure to ask Beverly for directions to the nearby winery, Domaine la Tuilière and have a degustation with Lionel. He speaks no English, but you won't need it to taste his amazing wines. Then take a few bottles back to the house and enjoy them on the terrace as the sun sets over the Luberon. It's unforgettable. The town of Murs itself is itsy-bitsy. There is only one restaurant, which we never made it to, and the only boulangerie is in an abandoned gas station (or at least they didn't have gas the day we tried to buy some), but they did have fabulous

We just got back from a great week at Les Plaines and would return in a heartbeat. The house is the perfect Provencal retreat -- cozy, comfortable, with stupendous views, we had a hard time tearing ourselves away to get out and see the fabulous sights. Thanks to unseasonably warm temps, we took full advantage of the great pool. The nearby village of Murs is just a short walk away and Gordes, one of the loveliest spots in France, is 10 minutes by car. Loved the markets, the people and the gorgeous Luberon countryside. Kudos to Beverly for making us welcome and at home at Les Plaines. We heartily recommend this property. The Peterson, Hingham, MA.

First time guests who thought that the house was "the perfect holiday home" they also said that the view was "unique". They are going to come back next year.
