We moved this historic, 1932 former rooming house 4 blocks to a new location to save a piece of Tybee history from being demolished. The move took more than 12 hours and drew many islanders to watch as it inched down the street. Once it was in place, we spent over a year completely renovating it into a single family residence that includes:
•8 sleeping rooms with 7 that open onto a porch where you can sometimes step out and hear the waves. The total sleeping spaces accommodate 16 people.
•Five of the sleeping rooms have their own baths.
•A cozy living room on both floors.
•Open, furnished porch on second floor where you can relax as the sun sets or anytime.
•Large, furnished, screen porch off the kitchen where you can eat, read, play games or just sit and watch island life go by.
•This historic home is shaded by a big magnolia tree, providing both beauty and a great place for kids to climb.

Why the Owner Chose Tybee Island
Being a Georgia girl, I wanted a place at the most easily accessible beach to Atlanta and mountains of NC. Having old family ties to Savannah made the choice of Tybee feel like the perfect beach location. With its old homes, zoning requirements, and laid back atmosphere, it is great for bike riding, beach walking and enjoying a minimally commercial beach area.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The screen porch in most seasons is the popular eating , game-playing and hang-out area of house. The large magnolia tree shading the house and porches provide a great play area for the tree climbers. All of the bedrooms but one have a separate entrance from the porches.
