Our Alpine Retreat Log Cabin is situated on the bank of the beautiful Chalk Creek, and is nestled in the heart of Colorado's most spectacular 14,000 foot Peaks, (Mount Princeton, Antero, Yale), and the Famous White Chalk Cliffs, overlooking Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Pools.

Our 1,000 sq.ft., two bedroom Log Cabin is surrounded by spectacular quaking Aspens and Mature Pines, with views of Mt. Princeton and Antero just outside your living room/kitchen windows. Relax on one of two decks, or enjoy sitting in a forest eco-system overlooking the rushing waters of Chalk Creek. If you enjoy fishing, test your skills in one of the many nearby lakes, or just walk a few feet down to your private creekside fishing spot.

Our authentic Log Cabin has a Southwestern/Mountain decor and has been restored with all the modern conveniences while maintaining its rustic charm. The living room has a large wood burning fireplace, satellite TV/DVD,CD player, Vaulted tongue and groove Aspen ceilings, and ample seating.

The master bedroom has a luxurious queen-size log bed, vaulted ceilings, and skylights. The second bedroom has two twin size beds.

The large kitchen/dining area has all the modern conveniences along with a working antique cast iron cook stove, if you choose to cook the old fashion way.

Nearby activities include white-water rafting, hiking, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, ATVing, mountain biking, golf etc., or simply relax in one of Colorado's best Olympic size, Natural Mountain Hot Springs.

  • One of the most relaxing and peaceful places we've ever been. We return every year. The cabin is very comfortable and its easy to just sit and look out the window all day. We enjoy hiking right out the door and occasionally the short drive to Mt Princeton Hot Springs. One tip, cell phones don't work at the cabin (and that's a good thing). Can't wait until our visit next year.

  • My wife found this property on VRBO while searching for a "cabin in the mountains by a stream." The pictures, description and affordable rate sold us. We were more than plesantly surprised to find the cabin exactly as pictured but the setting is so breathtaking and peaceful, it cannot be completely conveyed on the website. The cabin on Chalk Creek gave us the most peaceful and relaxing vacation in our 33+ years of marriage. It's rustic but has been updated with all amenities so don't think you will be roughing it. The Ogureks are terrific hosts - nearby if you need them, but respectful of the privacy of their guests. Turns out, we have mutual frinends who bought a cabin 4 miles up the road in St. Elmo. Small world. The Ogurek's aptly named, "Alpine Retreat" is just that. We give it an enthusiastic thumbs up.

  • This rental is exactly as described and promised. The house is warm, comfortable, inviting and kept very well. We stayed in the winter but cannot wait to get back here and stay in the summer because of that beautiful deck. The setting is peaceful, the kitchen is very well stocked, and our family of four enjoyed every minute of all three nights we spent here. A real gem.
