Spacious, 1400 square-foot apartment in triplex on a quiet residential street which backs to the Chester Creek Bike trail and Valley of the Moon Park. Walk, bike or ski the Chester Creek and Coastal Trail We are also only five blocks from downtown Anchorage with its museums, restaurants, shopping and site-seeing. As well as six blocks for New Sagaya grocery store.
Beautiful, fully furnished, master bedroom has a king-sized bed. The second bedroom has two twin beds. Lots of closet space, two full baths, gas fireplace, telephone, cable-television, high-speed internet, washer-dryer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee-maker, and all dishes and linens are supplied. The hot tub is not usable at this time.

We arrived late and went to bed immediately. The heater was not left on and there were no extra blankets, so some of us were cold the first night. The unit is very roomy, but has some poorly done repairs which make it seem a little run-down. Any kitchen noise can be easily heard in the master bedroom. So everyone needs to go to bed at the same time. I had gotten the impression that the 'extra bed' for a 5th person would be in a separate dining room, but since that room is part of a 'great room' so again everyone needs to go to bed at the same time. People in the unit upstairs were early risers, and their movement woke us up. There is a hot tub/spa in the picture and mentioned in one of the reviews, but it was EMPTY when we arrived and the owners would not fill it for us. Another part of our group stayed at a hotel where the spa was under repair, so we were 0 for 2. It wasn't terrible, but we would try another property next time.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you for your review. 1. In Alaska, we do have indoor heat which is adjusted by a thermostat on a wall. In this two bedroom unit, the thermostat is on the wall in the hallway. We do not pre-set the thermostat for guests as the unit heats up quickly--usually in less than 15 minutes. Guests can easily adjust the heat in the unit to whatever temperature feels comfortable to them. 2. We are sorry that the extra blankets were not found. As the unit is quite large, there are numerous closets to look at. The extra blankets are often stored in the living room closet. The extra towels are in the laundry room closet. 3. We did and do have posted in our site that we are currently not utilizing the hot tub. We are sorry that that part was not noticed. 4. We have not had any noise complaints from any previous guests in the past seven years---although we are sure it is definately possible and we try to be considerate. 5. We do live above the unit. Therefore, we are usually available if there are questions, requests, needs, local information needed, driving information, shopping information, or complaints. We try to do the best we can to help each guest thoroughly enjoy their Alaskan Vacation in our Vacation Rental Unit!!! Thanks, Jill Maxwell

We just returned from our trip to Anchorage and could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. We had reservations at the Springhill Suites out by the University, but the room was too small for the 3 of us. My husband was able to call Jill and Bill and they actually had an opening for the exact dates we needed it. It was FABULOUS! They are great people, very helpful and personable, and the location could not have been better. Centrally located to everything we wanted to do. Close to bike paths, downtown, the baseball field, etc. We loved everything about it and would definitely recommend it to anyone considering staying in Anchorage. It was just me, my husband, and my 7 year old son, and we had room to spare. They even have a trampoline out back and several bicycles you can use while you're there. We never tried out the hot tub, but everything was perfect!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: Jill was born and raised in Alaska and Bill moved here from Detroit over 40 years ago. We bought this triplex so we could be able to walk to downtown events, utilize the ski/bike trails, and yet feel like we were living in a forest cabin. close to the exciting downtown events yet feel like they were living in the forest. We have 5 children, only 2 of whom are still living at home. We love to bike, hike, 4-wheel, camp, and garden. We are also proud of the large yard available to visitors with strawberries, raspberries, vegetables, and flowers.
Why the Owner Chose Anchorage:
It is beautiful, clean, quiet, and LARGE!!! It is nice to travel and be able to spread out in the unit, in the yard, in the driveway (also a basketball hoop area) and in the parks next door. It is spacious, healthy, and friendly.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The owners are on-site and available for any special needs. We have two units here. This one is the 2-bedroom. Also look @ #134325-it is the 3-bedroom and has several more pictures of the building.
