What a great place to stay. We shared the condo with another couple and we all loved it. We went to the Big Island with 6 couples and we won the condo contest. There was no comparison. Our view was great, the kitchen was well stocked, and it was as clean as our own home. The owners were great to deal with. We have booked other condo's before and they have not lived up to pictures. On this one the pictures don't do it justice. You walk in and get the "Wow" factor. Every morning we woke up and sat and watched the surfers do their thing while we drank our coffee. You can eat out, but why would you when you have one of the best views on the island. When we go back to the big island this is where we will stay.

The pictures of this condo are great and are not false advertising. This is the most nicely appointed condo I have ever been in. Janice and Robert have thought of everything. This is nothing you will need or want that is not in the condo. The view is lovely and we enjoyed watching the surfers. The only downside is that the ocean surf is pretty load and you need to leave the windows open for ventilation since there is no A.C.

Janice and Robert, The first evening at your lovely Hawaiian hale, Nancy and I sat on the lanai, wine glass in hand, as we watched several green Hawaiian sea turtles glide among schools of fish in the crystal clear pools just a few feet below. As the waves crested on the reef one hundred yards beyond, two surfers gracefully carved the water in perfect synchronization -- one going left, the other going right, as if one were merely a reflection of the other. The sky and ocean were so blue, that it would have been difficult to distinguish between them, were it not for the glow in the distant clouds which were blushed red and orange by the setting sun. The only sounds I heard were the continuous crashing of the waves, and the deep contented sighs of my beautiful wife. What an incredible first night as your guests. With only slight variation, each successive evening brought that same sense of joy and contentment. You are very fortunate to own such a wonderful and unique property. We are fortunate that you allowed us to share it -- if only for one all-too-short week. We hope to be that fortunate again, sometime soon. Mahalo Nui, Stephen and Nancy Steward Santa Cruz, California

This condo was a great pick! The view is one of the greatest on the coast. It's full of great sunsets, surfers, and ocean friends, all to be enjoyed from the excellent lanai. The unit is all what the advertising explained and then some! Very clean, and has all the items that you will need, and saves taking/buying many items yourself. The people were very friendly there, and it was a very quiet setting as well! This was a great location for our vacationing needs, and we would love to get back there again someday! Thanks Janice & Robert! Brian & Shelley MacKinnon - Nova Scotia, Canada

I stayed at this condo for 5 nights with my 25 year old son and 3 of his friends. We were totally at home and comfortable. The kitchen was better stocked than mine at home, and the guys were thrilled with the selection of water "toys." It was close enough to town for the guys to enjoy the night life, but far enough out to be quiet. Well, not quiet really. We left the windows open at night and were lulled to sleep by the sound of the sea. It really IS just outside the window. The condo was very clean and well-maintained, so was the entire property. The property manager was helpful and always available. I didn't think we'd get much use of the pool at first, since we were at the beach all day, but it was a great place to be when the sun went down. I would very much recommend this condo to anyone who really wants to experience an oceanside vacation. While Banyan Tree beach is really only accessible to experienced surfers, it was such a joy to watch them from dawn to dusk. Our favorite boogie board beach was Magic Sands, just a ways down the road. We had a wonderful time there. Some of us went on the Atlantis submarine cruise. It was okay. I enjoyed the coffee tours up on the mountain more, and also our trip to the seahorse farm. The submarine was the most expensive activity we did, there was plenty to do that was free. We had a wonderful vacation.

This was our first visit to Kona and the Big Island of Hawaii. We choose to rent a condominium for our 6-day stay because of the space, location and amenities. The pictures of this condo on the web site won us over. It looked so close to the ocean. It turns out; it is even better than the pictures! It is total paradise. When you first walk in, you will find the entry hall the has boogie boards, flippers and snorkel gear, beach towels, fishing poles…any thing you could want for the beach. There's also a cabinet of board games and books for everyone. Every room was clean and welcoming. There will little tiny ants in the condo here and there. I wonder if that's the norm there? The ants didn't bother us though. Every morning begins with the sound of crashing waves and the sky changing colors as the sun rises. Surfers get out to the waves around 6:30am and the sea turtles were bumbling around in the surf by the afternoon. We had beautiful views of the sunset from the balcony. The pantry is Full of things to use for your stay. There are many appliances and you don't want for anything. The linens and towels are quality and plentiful. The bed is a little bouncy, but still comfortable. It was quiet. We didn’t hear any noise from neighbors in the halls or in the above unit. There is a convenient little market right across the street (Alii). The bigger town with shopping and restaurants is to the north of the condo, just a short drive (or walk or bike ride) up Alii drive. The condo complex was clean and well cared for. There was a pool that was cleaned daily and a spa that was not working during our stay. I completely recommend this condo if you want to spend a wonderful vacation in Kona Hawaii. The only way we could get our bags packed at the end of our stay was to promise we would return someday. This is the best home away from home we've ever had.
Owner response:We are so glad our guests had a great time. We are happy to report that the spa is fully functioning now.

My husband and I have just returned from renting this t Banyan Trees Condos in Kona on the Big Island. We so loved staying there that we called Janice and Robert and told them to keep our deposit...we were coming back next year! The view is SPECTACULAR! You have the best seat in the house to watch the surfers surf on one of the most premier surfing beaches on the Big Island. We could also see sea turtles and watch the fish. The condo is accommodated extremely well...every need was thought of, from the pantry to the "toys" to play with while on the beach. Dana, the on site manager, was also attentive and helpful. You will have an amazing vacation when you stay at this condo!

We absolutely loved Robert and Janice’s condo – it was the best part of our trip. The setting was perfect, right on the ocean. It has easy access with covered parking and a convenient elevator. It is close to everything yet not noisy. We loved the ocean breeze off the water, keeping us very comfortable. The condo is very current both in style and amenities.( Lots of beach and snorkel equipment, as well as useful local information binder.) It is also clean, neat, and organized . It has a nice floor plan with the bedrooms and bathrooms, offering good privacy. My husband is the cook in the family, so he really enjoyed the kitchen with everything he needed. Many times we just wanted to stay “home” instead of going out – maybe next time!. . . . and there will be a next time. Finally, we want to say how much we enjoyed the excellent communication we had with Janice and Robert while we were planning our trip, which put us at ease when renting. Overall, we found everything about the condo to be the very best one could ask for and would recommend this lovely place in paradise to anyone! Mahalo!

Dear Nita,We are back from lovely Hawaii and our trip was made even better by allowing us to use your lovely condominium. You’ve decorated it beautifully and we hardly even left the place, however we did go to the volcano one day. Our grandson really enjoyed the pool. My husband even made friends with the banyan beach residents! We would definitely like to return someday and would recommend to friends. We loved the fact that the condo was fully equipped even down to the color crayons and coloring books….too good!

We loved our stay at your condo! We have been to Hawaii seven times and have never found such a nice condo right on the ocean front in Kona which is the town I love in Hawaii- all the sun. The lanai is perfect for watching the surfers, the turtles, and the many whales that we saw that were flapping their tales. The condo had everything that we needed. The free internet access was very nice since we use our computer every day to stay connected with friends and family. Other places we paid $11 a day for the access. Thank you for a wonderful stay-every day was sunny!

Thankyou Nita for the use of your lovely condo over the Christmas season. It was perfect for our family of 6 (kids ages 8, 12, 14, 17). There was plenty of room for the kids to spread out and have their own space and two bathrooms was awesome. We enjoyed getting up in the morning and having our coffee on the lanai and watching the surfers. Once the sun came up and shone in the water we could see the turtles feeding around the rocks. One day we saw spinner dolphins and of course the occasional whale went by. The kids loved the playing in the pool in the evenings, although we preferred the hottub! There was great stock of cookware etc and having condiments in the fridge was great (we only ate out once and left alot of extra food items behind!). We used the boogie boards, a cooler and beach mat. The two younger girls enjoyed the games and the boys enjoyed the Volcano movie. The location is central and perfect. We stayed 'north' last time we came, not realizing the slow roads and time it takes to drive places. This time it was easy to access the beaches to the north and snorkeling to the south. (we had stayed in Kapoho for 5 days before coming here, so did alot on that side too). Highlights were driving to the top of Mauna Loa, renting a kayak and snorkeling at Captain Cook, and going on a Dolphin Discoveries tour and swimming with the spinner dolphins - amazing. Must comment that we appreciate the fair nightly prices for your condo. Most other rentals charge for 2 or 4 persons then extra per person on top of that. For a family of 6, yours was affordable (and no big hike in price over x-mas). THANKYOU so much and we hope to be back!

The location was definitely 5 stars. Everything was close by...stores, restaurants and of course, the ocean. Thank you so much for your hospitality. The only down side was that we had to leave!

Stayed 8/14 - 8/22. Your condo is beautiful (nicely remodeled) and the view was absolutely spectacular. I have dozens of postcard worthy sunset photos! Couldn't get over how close we were to the water. You are speaking the truth when you say that you can see the turtles swimming by. We saw many. We were also pleasantly surprised at the amenities. We didn't want for anything. Loved the boogie boards and cooler with wheels! Hope to return again.

We stayed July 24 - 27 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The condo was absolutely wonderful, great view, great sound of the surf, great accomodations, plenty of room for our whole family, beautiful decor and decorations in the home. Morning noon and night listening to the surf was spectacular. Watching the surfers while eating white pineapple for breakfast was heavenly. The farmer's market just north on Alii drive near Keauhou was lots of fun to visit and a great place to get fresh produce for a great place. Watching the turtles feed on the coral while eating lunch from the condo lanai was a treat for grandma and kids alike. The home was clean. There was a problem with a broken pipe in the building when we first arrived, but the building manager worked to get it fixed right away to make sure that it didn't interfere with our stay. Great service. Great place. Great place to stay at again. Obviously we can't praise it enough.

We stayed in the condo for two weeks from April 4 to April 18, 2009. The condo was wonderful. We enjoyed watching the turtles and surfers from the lanai. Falling asleep every night to the sound of the ocean was absolutely wonderful. Wonderful beaches are a short drive. We would recommend staying at this condo to anyone going to the Big Island.

Your condo was just perfect....I loved the fact the bedroom is right by the balcony....the sound of the ocean is just so soothing. We were able to see some humpbacks from the balcony one evening, watching the surfers was great....a little too shy to join them this time...it was just spectacular. A big thank you Nita for providing us with such a beautiful place fo stay for our holiday. Your Kona home is quite remarkable, all the attention to detail speaks volumes. We truely felt the aloha spirit you have placed in all those details - from the cabinet of books, to the notes left around the place explaining how things work( in the condo and on the Island), from the beautifully decorated rooms to the phone call on the first day ensuring everything was fine. The 5 of us slept, ate and relaxed very comfortably for our week at the Banyan Tree. We loved the lanai, eating all our meals out there, watching the surfers and the exquisite show of a sunset each evening. We never tired of the ocean's sound or smell. The pool was great, never crowded, and we were blessed with sand at the Magic Sands beach. The short drive into Kona was great for eating and shopping. Thanks again, hope to be back soon.

Nita, thank you SO MUCH! We had a glorious time in Kona and especially in your exquisite condo. We have stayed in other condos on previous trips and while they were nice, there was always something that didn't work or that didn't quite meet our needs. It's obvious that your unit has recently been redone with all new "top of the line" appliances and beautiful decorating. Having been to the island several times in the past few years, we didn't feel a need to do lots of sightseeing so spent much time on the lanai watching the surfers and the many fish. The dolphins played every morning and evening right in front of us. A most happy thing... The only thing we felt was lacking was a fan (or maybe 2). The afternoon sun when no breeze was stirring made for a condo that was a little too warm for our liking. The other option would be a pull down shade on the lanai. Will we return? Oh, heck, "YES". It was a wonderful vacation and we returned to reality kicking and screaming.

We did all of the tourist things.. Volcano, going over to Hilo ,Kayaking, going out to dinner(and cooking in), shopping, fishing ( the guys caught a 400 lb, 7 foot tiger shark) all of the info you had available made deciding a breeze. I want to say how much we enjoyed staying at your Kona home. It was everything you said it would be and more. Sitting in the living room and looking out reminded me of a balcony suite on a cruise ship. The ocean was that close. During our stay we saw countless numbers of whales(I believe that one gave birth) that were so very close. We also were treated to many dolphin performances and saw sea turtles all without leaving the lanai. Not to mention the brightly colored fish swimming in between the rocks below. Your place also had so much information about Kona and the surroundings. It made it seem more like we were staying as guests rather than as renters. Your place was impeccably clean and just, well, homey. Thank you so much for making it so nice. I hope we can rent from you on future visits.

It was a marvel to be able to sit in bed/and on the lanai and watch both the sunset and the amazing surfers. Nita, Great Place!!! As soon as we walked through the door we were floored by the condo. The interior was splendid and the view was even better. It was like stayin in our own personal 5-star resort. We had dinner every night out on the lanai and watched the sunset. I got some great photos of the sunsets - they are like the ones you see on the calenders. Surfers on the water every day, turtles in the cove, and close to everything (The covered off the street parking was also very nice). We boogie boarded just down the street at Magic's Beach and had some great waves. It was in walking distance. Also, the binder of info with recommendations of things to do and places to go was very handy. The island is so big that it was nice to be able to narrow things down to do the best of the best. We hope to go back and finish our tour soon and would love to stay at your condo again. Thanks again for the privilege of staying there. We really enjoyed our stay.

The beach chairs, towels, boogi boards (oh boy..the girls loved those), all the cooking utensils a person could ever need! We used the Hawaii Big Island Revealed 4th Edition you recommended everywhere we went! Loved the comments and info you adde. We've stayed in condo's before, but yours by far has the beat. Most condo's will only hold a family of 4 and you've set your's up to hold more comfortably & I have to brag on the resident manager who showed us our first turtle! What can one say about spending 3 months in Hawaii?? It was wonderful to avoid our Eastern Winter of course. It was wonderful to avoid all of the most usual home "work". What could possibly be wrong about getting up each day to the sight of the Pacific and surfers and whales and dolphins and feel the soft breezes and be able to play golf and swim and snorkel and eat and hang out at the beach or the pool with good books? You're right! Nothing! We truly felt totally comfortable, right at home in the Wells' condo. It had everything we needed and even some things we didn't know we needed. We had 3 sets of visitors and they loved it there too. The only sad part about it was leaving in general, and leaving in particular our little friend Gary the gecko who showed up every day on the lanai when he heard us talking. If you work with him and have the patience, he will even climb into your hand and lick the mango or papaya! Sometimes he even brings his bigger brother and little sister. But they are more shy. Can we come back tomorrow?

Nita - We cannot say enough about our time in your delightful condo. We covered almost every mile of the Big Island, but the biggest treat was beginning and ending everyday with coffee, breakfast, dinner and drinks on your lanai. We watched big surf with a collection of ranked surfers actually competing, and on a calmer day, turtles, and then there were the whales...what can you say bad about a late afternoon drink on your own lanai and watching whales just beyond the surfers? Everything about the condo was exceptional; we loved the way you have it ready for most everything we would need (ice chest, towels, washer/dryer, etc). Thank you for thinking of our needs as well as our comfort. You did it perfectly!

Aloha Nita,The vacation was great; ten days of eighty degree weather with no rain, no email, and no cell phone! We all enjoyed your condo very much. The web site is great but really doesn’t do it justice; you just have to be there to experience it! We had 14 people total in Kona for Christmas this year. My brother in law stayed above us in #402 so we got to see that unit too. It is nice but when compared to your unit, it’s easy to see the personal touches and effort that you’ve put in. It was all appreciated very much! The rest of the family stayed in a house about .7 miles up the hill from the Banyan Tree. We hosted a cook out by the pool several nights and watched the sun set and everyone raved about the setting. I travel a lot for my job so my wife and I have stayed in a lot of different places from one end of the quality spectrum to the other, including 3 or 4 of the big properties North of Kona. I think that it’s safe to say that your unit was by far the most comfortable accommodations that we’ve had. I think that it’s safe to say that we’ll be coming back to stay in your unit again Nita. Thank you so much for all your work to make your condo a true home away from home! Happy New Year!

Dear Nita,The pictures of the condo on your website show the place very well, however when you are actually there it’s even better. Our first comment when we entered the condo “WOW, this place is awesome”. It has been very tastefully decorated and we felt right at home. It was very spacious, airy, and clean and we had everything we needed: coolers, beach towels, boogie boards etc. There is nothing better than listening to the sounds of the waves and the wind rustling the leaves of the palm trees…we’ll miss that. We watched the sun set every night from the lanai and were often kept entertained by the surfers. We were very comfortable – the only thing we felt would make it perfect was air conditioning. Not a big deal for sleeping because you get a cool ocean breeze and there’s ceiling fans. It was more during the early evening if you’re getting ready to go out. Nita, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Banyan Tree and it was a pleasure meeting you – you’re place is a gem and so are you. We will definitely recommend this wonderful place to our friends and family. Thank-you for everything.Susan & Brian White

What an amazing family vacation we had at your condo! Though we enjoyed many tours and activities during our stay in Kona,my favorite activity was enjoying the ocean view from the lanai. There was always something different to watch such as surfers, sail boats, parasailers, ocean liners etc.! I was also impressed by all the amenities you provided and how clean, comfortable, and spacious your condo was! I plan to book early for next year as I know everyone will want to enjoy your fabulous condo too! Mahalo!

"Southern Hospitality" has met its match in Kona. We pride ourselves on hospitality here in Alabama but I don't think I've been anywhere that my hosts have worked harder to anticipate and fill their guests' needs. Our family of 6 was plenty comfortable in your beautiful condo. Thanks for the guide book recommendation. We used it often. Our trip was a big success. We would love to come back some time.

Just back from a wonderful 8 days in your condo. It was everything and more than we hoped it would be. A large swell hit the day we arrived and the surf was 5-8+ ft. the entire time we were there .... my husband and son were in heaven! And of course I got to watch them surf from the lanai which is so unusual. The only complaint I would have is that your condo is so nice and comfortable that we never wanted to leave. My kids were happy just to be there and it was hard to prod them to go visit other places during the day. My son loved the Hawaiian slings you supplied and brought home 2 fish for dinner! Thanks for everything - it was an awesome experience.

"WOW" Nita & David's Condo is truly a Home Away From Home. You walk in to the Beautiful Hawaiian Decor to the sound of the waves crashing. These guys have condiments, every coooking utensil you might need, tropical drink cups to the kids can't break 'em cups, Boogie Boards, Beach Chairs, Towels. We have stayed in several condos and never stayed in one as well stocked or as beautiful as this one. Being a family of 5, we have difficulty finding accomodations to comfortably suit everyone, however, this condo can accommodate 5+ comfortably. The view from the lania is breathtaking!!! We never missed a sunset. Thank you Nita & Dave for the Big Island Experience (I don't know how we will sleep back in Georgia now without the waves crashing) :)

Nita & David, I couldn't take myself away from the Balcony. The view is mesmerizing and the turtles, dolphins, parasailers, rowers, cruise ships and various other boats kept me blissfully entertained! The sound of the ocean I have always loved, and your lovelly condo, with it's many many creature comforts made this the perfect vacation spot for me! Thank you for making me feel so at home...I hope to return often! Sincerely, Evelyn Wofford Apple Valley, CA

What a wonder opportunity for Colusa County residents to see Kailua Kona and the island of Hawaii staying in Well's Banyon Tree Sunset Condo. It was our first vist to the island of Hawaii, and we couldn't have pick a better spot to explore it from. We saw wales, dolphins and green turtles from the lani. The trips to the volcano, Hilo, and Parker Ranch were great. These kids really have a condo that is visitor friendly.

Beautiful Place, Wonderful Vacation. When they say the condo is near the Ocean, they mean on the Ocean. You can watch the turles and the fish swimming past sitting or standing on the lanai. Snorkeling and swimming beaches are easily reached. The beach just South, down the road aways, near the hotel, is great for Olde Men (like me) and kids to practice their snorkeling ability. The big beach, to the North is easily reached and is the place to go for boogie boarding or just basking in the Sun. We had a great time and we will surely stay at the same facility.

Our stay in your beautiful condo was absolutly amazing. Having boogie boards, ice chest, hawaiin sling, etc. made our stay that much more comfortable. By far one of the nicest condo's available in Kona. The view from the lanai is breathtaking. Watching the sunset from the lanai was worth the trip. Soon as we figure out ours schedules for next year we are booking for two weeks! Mahalo, Tyson Urrutia

My Husband and I stayed in this lovely Condo for 18 days. It was our first visit to Hawaii and the view from the lani was outstanding. It has all the comforts of home and more, a great way to stay, relax and enjoy Hawaii. We were already planning our next stay before we left. I highly reccomend this condo.
