Looking for a getaway from the NW rain, a group of five couples booked into the San Clemente Jacques Hacienda for a week in February. We loved it! The listing description was fully accurate and even understated the beauty and charm of the hacienda. The colorful art throughout the property, the broad vistas of mountains and valleys, the terrific pool and tennis court, and outdoor patio dining, all left us without a care. The staff has been working at the hacienda for more than twenty years in some instances create a relaxed and homey atmosphere while seeming completely unobtrusive. The owner was a delight to plan our trip with. Always at the other end of the email or cell phone, she took us through every step of the logistics of the trip, including providing pick-up and drop-off at the airport, a driver for two day trips, and even a skilled massage therapist. She sets a warm and embracing tone and is unflappable. We decided to have the staff do all of the cooking for the week and this was the right decision! For two meals a day, the table was set artfully, and the food, mostly local dishes which was our preference, appeared exactly at the appointed time. The cooks were responsive to our dietary preferences, did the grocery shopping inclusive of all of our favorite items, and prepared tasty, healthy and delicious meals every day. The town of Tepotzlan four miles walk or a taxi away also offered variety and adventure to our week. Went into town several times for meals, hikes and shopping and were delighted to be part of a bustling community. Tourists blended in easily and were most welcome. The same was true of Amatlan, just two miles in the other direction. The rustic hotel there was a great spot for a getaway luncheon. Last, the rooms and bathrooms were spacious, well decorated, with soft and colorful linens and nicely selected toilet articles. There is an energy conservation value system at work at the hacienda which we all appreciated. Solar panels graced the roof and heated our water; we were requested to conserve water; and care was taken to recycle. The rooms were freshened daily. Bathrobes, hairdryers, large towels were available in each room. We felt like we hit the jackpot and have already recommended Hacienda Clemente Jacques to our friends and family. It would be a great place for a small destination wedding; a women's retreat; a family reunion, or a 'baby-boomers winter camp' as we were having. Enjoy!! Adios.
Owner response:We all loved having this group of 10 and we've taken into account a few great suggestions we received.

This came from one of our favorite guests after she graciously put it into the Newcomer's recommendations. I´d like to highly recommend one of the loveliest and easiest escapes I have found in Mexico. If you and your friends want to get out of the city and experience a peaceful and memorable Mexican vacation only an hour and a half away, think about the magestic mountains in Tepotzlan. Check out the Hacienda Clemente Jacques at this website: www.tepoztlan-vacation-rentals.com I have been to this beautiful hacienda every chance I get and spent the weekend there celebrating my daughter´s birthday with her friends. I can tell you the place is magical and I always come home refreshed and thankful.

My recent stay at Hacienda Clemente Jacques in Tepoztlan was wonderful. The scenery and beautiful mountain vistas are just incredible. Tepotzlan is a new part of Mexico to me but I must say a most beautiful area. The magnificent mountains wherever one looks are just fabulous. We stayed for 1 week and had the tower room which also afforded us the beautiful mountain views right outside our windows! One thing I enjoyed was the many secluded and intimate seating areas throughout the property, all of which afforded one incredible views, or just a really peaceful place to sit and read or watch the hawks soar and float around the mountains. The pool area was especially beautiful and also afforded wonderful views from the seating area! The staff were all very helpful, friendly and very interested in all the guests comforts. Breakfast each morning on the patio was very nice. To sit out doors and have breakfast on the beautiful patio with the fresh air and all the birds was very special. The yoga class, also held out side on the patio was delightful as well. I also had an incredible massage while there, if time permits on your stay, take advantage of the massage service. Well worth it! The village of Tepoztlan was a short taxi ride away and very pleasant to walk around and explore. Some interesting and very good restaurants and very friendly people. Also a very clean town with lots of nice shops to wander through as was the market place and the wonderful 16th century Cathedral and grounds. We also took advantage of the hiking in the area and took a day hike from the village of Tepoztlan up the mountain side to the ruined pyramid. What a climb! A hard climb through the trees and up the side of the mountain but so worth the effort once the mountain top was reached. The views were just spectacular on the clear day we climbed. The trail is called the trail of 1000 steps, yes steps, in consists of at least 1000 rough stone steps going up the side of the mountain through the trees and follows a stream all the way. There are however many places along the climb to sit and rest and enjoy the tree tops and birds. Well worth the effort, although rough on the legs. All in all a great, restful and peaceful stay at a beautiful hacienbda. We hope to return someday and will certainly tell our friends about this wonderful place in Tepoztlan! We had a very nice time on the Hacienda Clemente Jacques!! Even though our group was big and we changed our bookings a few times everything went very smooth and both the owner and the stuff were very nice, flexible, helpful and welcoming. They also promptly met our special wishes (like e.g. a baby bed). The food they prepared was just delicious! And the hacienda with all its facilities (pool, tennis court, various places to eat, sit and relax) is just beautiful. We all enjoyed our stay very much and felt so much home that leaving after 3 days was difficult. Thanks to everyone!

Our first visit here was in 2004, and in April of 2011 we visited Hacienda Clemente Jacques for the 4th time, and we enjoyed it more than ever. In the past we have used the smaller Villa next door as there has only been a few of us, but as our families were visiting this time we rented the larger Hacienda. The pool is larger in the Hacienda which was great as there were 9 of us, and the children loved it. Both are such great places for spending time with friends and family, and to sit around one of the numerous dining areas after cooking dinner on the large gas powered grill, is the perfect way to finish the day. The location seems quite remote, but it's very easy to get to so you are guaranteed the privacy you want. The staff are always at hand if you need them, but will leave you be if you so desire. We love what this place has to offer, the comfort, the facilities (wi-fi / music / tv if you really have to), the views are amazing, and decor makes you feel that you are anywhere else but the short hour or so journey from Mexico City. It really is a great retreat and we continue to visit as and when we can and as often as possible. Pattie, the owner, is reliable and trust worthy and makes sure that the properties are in tip-top order for your arrival. We will continue to visit this little paradise as often as possible, and would highly recommend it to anyone else.

A piece of paradise! The stay was utterly relaxing and Pattie and her staff couldn't have been more thoughtful and gracious. We were there over Easter and even got to enjoy a service with some of the most beautiful music ever at Pattie's church. The massages were wonderful. The meals that Teresa and Ley made were awesome and Felipe is the best at the grill EVER. The whole house is kept immaculately by Frankie. If your idea of vacation is to catch great sun, a couple massages, great meals and some excellent shopping, this is the vacation for you! Plus there is no setting more beautiful than waking up to the mountains. Stay here, you'll never regret it!

Set in the hills just outside of the magic town of Tepoztlan, this is a place where you can have it all. Stay on the premises the whole time and enjoy the pool, extensive grounds, a running trail, beautiful views and really everything one would want to relax and be at peace. But an adventure beyond the grounds can be an exciting experience. A visit during religous festival times like Carnival, Easter and Day of the Dead can provide fascinating experience as the local people celebrate their native dances and other festivities including impressive fire works displays. A trip to the silver town of Taxco or the city of eternal Spring, Cuernavaca is always a great experience. There is archaeology, Xochicalco being the most important nearby site as well as caves to visit, thermal waters in Cuautla, just plenty to do or just do nothing but enjoy. The facilities, meals and all the services are top notch with attention to all the details. The friendly and knowledgeable staff is ready to help at all times. High recommendable. Transportation can be arranged for most occasions if there is no car.

My whole family stayed here for the Christmas holidays and really enjoyed it. The service was fabulous, the weather just perfect and the place is gorgeous. The only downside to it is that it is a little far from Tepoztlan, the town, so you have to drive if you want to go there. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Patricia and team for making us feel like home!
Owner response:Our guest is correct; we are two miles from the central plaza of Tepoztlan, but its as if we were a million miles away because it's so much quieter where we are than staying in town. We have a local bus that stops at our front gate every 15 minutes and for 6 pesos will take you to the main square. Taxis back (or to) are less than $5 US. I frequently go in on the VW bus and come back with purchases in a taxi.

This Hacienda, Pattie (host/owner), her staff, and nearby Tepoztlan are "have it all". Any visitor will need to return many times, like I have. Not a hotel nor a bed and breakfast but rather a one-of-a-kind "home away from home", Hacienda Clemente Jacque is a place to relax. I have been at Gala Fiesta and taken Spanish and cooking lessons there as well. If you want Yoga, art, music, or photography classes, Pattie will connect you with top artists, writers, chefs, and trainers who will come to San Clemente for individual or small groups.A 5 Star experience to say the least.

Our jaws dropped the moment we rolled through the gates and first glimpsed the estate and we never quite recovered. The Hacienda is absolutely luxurious. Breakfast in the courtyard, midday on the tennis courts, afternoon in the pool, and dinner in the dining hall. What a life! The grounds are spectacular and the surrounding vistas stunning. The staff was incredibly responsive and friendly. The picturesque town of Tepoztlan is a short drive away and hosts one of the most charming markets we came across during our entire Mexican vacation. We can't recommend it strongly enough. Book it today. You will not regret it.

The hacienda was the perfect place for our large group to settle into the wonderful mountain town of Tepoztlan for the week. The pool, the courtyard, the kitchen and rooms -- everything was beautiful and comfortable, totally kid friendly (but with all the luxuries for the adults). Patricia is great at making sure her guests have everything they need. I can't tell you how grateful everyone was to arrive (completely addled from mexico city traffic) to find Felipe and Teresa there to give us a tour, with a delicious dinner (that guacamole!) and cervezas waiting. The staff was so nice -- helpful and friendly and unobtrusive. It's heaven to cook a meal, then have the dirty dishes disappear.I could have spent the entire time just soaking up the views from the Hacienda -- it really is as incredible as the pictures on the website show. And lucky us --a lunar eclipse! Watching the moon rise and disappear and reappear over the mountain silhouette was magical.

These are excerpts from the Hacienda Clemente Jacques' Guestbook from the month long birthday party: I will miss HCJ dearly. The mountains and the laid back attitude of everything. I will miss a place I came to regularly and my past has now returned to the past once again. I hope I can come again and again. Don't be surprised when you find a few actors and a set appears here. Thank you so much. EDC I am so glad to be here. This was a special visit for me to be here again. I can't imagine anywhere better. I'd like to return--more than once! J Much thanks for the generous hospitality. We were lucky to be able to share your roof and the sumptious accomodations. And to be able to get your expert advice on visit to town. The convent was especially appreciated. Of all, the tour of the property and the water system was most impressive. J&E Thank you for making a dreamlike retreat here in the magical valley of the volcanic mountains. It was good to come back after 15 years and all time slipped away, as it does here, because it's a magical place and time is meaningless. EA It was great to spend another wonderful weekend at the perfect get-away. I'm always amazed at how well I sleep here and manage to chill out. Thanks for the hike. Hope to return again soon. TM Where to begin? I cannot have imagined such a heaven on earth and even the effusive descriptions cannot do justice to your wonderful place. I would love to return. I have so many good memories to draw on until the next time. Hasta la vista. We've added ten new birds to our list in our early morning walks or from the view off the balcony. More importantly, we have added the mountains, cool breezes, colourful bougainville to our memories along with the new freindships that we have made here in this paradise. J&DG Just tipped the edge of what is possible here on the sketching-painting art front. Would love to come back to do more. DM What can i say? The first time we came here was in late 1990-- we have been returning every year since then. You have created a heavenly place in which to relax, paint, meditate, set numerous tables in different settings, enjoy all that both houses have to offer. Thank you all so much for helping me to have the best birthday month in history. JD Thank you! Without your support and help on a daily basis, we couldn't have pulled it off. All of our guests were gobsm

I am writing to comment on my experience, having enjoyed several vacation stays in Hacienda San Clementino. This place is simply magical; roomy and casually comfortable with spectacular views of the mountains and surrounding towns and fabulous weather. It has been the venue for an unforgettable New Year's Eve celebration by candlelight in the private chapel and joyful summer weeks of barbeques, hiking, tennis, swimming and just hanging out with family and friends. I highly recommend this place for vacations.
