Our family of 4, including 2 teenagers, had a great stay at Sunset Beach. We had a wonderful time exploring the island from this location. Staying on the North Shore was the perfect way to see Hawaii if you want to experience the surfer community and a relaxed week. We explored the entire north and eastern shores from this location with ease, as well as the Diamond Head area, and did Pearl Harbor and Waikiki the day we left. After seeing the crowds in Waikiki, we were happy to have stayed on the relaxing North Shore. The House was just as described and had everything we needed for cooking, sleeping, and going to the beach. We loved reading on the patio and got something from Ted's Bakery almost everyday. It was also fun being close to Haliewa. We would definately return to this property and encourage others to stay there. Maholo Sussi for all of your help and advice!

The Internet does not do justice to this beautifully appointed and equipped home. All the comforts are provided and the owners taste in decor was an added bonus that makes it all the more elegant and welcoming. Just wonderful!

We stayed four nights here in December and absolutely loved it! It was even better than the pictures. The house was very clean and we felt very much at home. We had a few rainy days so the games in the closet were definitely appreciated! All of the dishes, cutlery, cookingware, bedding, towels etc. were in excellent condition. The public beach access was about 5 minutes away, Ted's Bakery and I believe it was a Chevron are also near by. We had decided not to rent a car but would recommend anyone else to do so. If you want to go to Haleiwa or travel North (ie: Polynesian Culture Center) it's quite costly in a cab. If you are planning to travel north make sure to stop at Giovanni's Shrimp truck! ...The owner, Sussi, was wonderful and prompt with making arrangements. She had great recommendations, was easy to contact and very helpful when we had any questions or concerns. We would definitely stay here again!

A Home Away from Home...Look No Further!

The property was exactly what I pictured and needed to relax and enjoy the beauty of the North Shore. At the end of a long day at the beach, it was perfect to come "home" with a Ted's Bakery pie in hand ready to close the night on the balcony. The house had everything necessary and we made full use of the snorkel gear and bikes. Sussi was just a phone call away if needed and that was a comfort. I highly recommend traveling by bike to explore the beaches right across the street. The shrimp trucks and chicken rotisserie truck on the weekend provided great picnic food as well as Ted's Bakery right down the street. The people of Hawaii are amazing...I can't wait to return for a longer trip.

Very clean, cute, comfortable house near Sunset Beach

Our stay at this property was very relaxing and comfortable. The house was very clean and everything was very organized from the booking to check out. The open kitchen space overlooking the living room is nice and all the doors that open to the deck space is great to catch a sunset. Some of the ammenties weren't as high of quality as I was expecting (dishes, cookware, knives, bedding, towels,etc.) but they provided a lot of nice beach accessories to make our beach trips easier (beach chairs, umbrella, cooler). We loved the outdoor shower to rinse the sand off after we got back from the beach. The beach is a walkable distance but we mostly drove to each beach location and to Ted's Bakery several times. The downstairs surfer neighbor was very helpful in providing us travel tips. This would be a great place for families since two of the bedrooms have twin beds in them and only one bedroom with a queen size bed.

This lovely Hawaiian home is comfortable and pretty. The shed is well stocked with all you will need for the beach, beach chairs, cooler etc and beach towels are also supplied. It is with in walking distance from Sunset beach as well as the delicious Ted's bakery and their cream pies (yum). We explored all the North Shore has to offer as well as a lot of the rest of Oahu as it is easy access to every thing else (1 hour to Honolulu). Thank you Sussi. The McGarry family UK

We had a fabulous time on the North Shore at Hale Honu Le'a! We have three teens and brought grandma along too. There was plenty of room for all of us and it was nice to have our own space after returning from a day of beach adventures. We appreciated having everything we needed at the house including a cooler to take with us every day, plenty of towels, and a great kitchen to cook in! We are very happy that we chose Hale Honu Le'a as our home for our holiday!

Aloha! I stayed in the Sunset Pad with my husband, my son , his wife and their ten month old son. We had a fabulous time. There was everything we needed and MORE as we were not on a vacation where we chose to cook : ) We loved having Ted's Bakery in walking distance and also all the other great eateries on the North Shore. The outside area was wonderful. It is close enough to Honolulu but far enough away as well. We will return for sure! Mahalo!

My Family really enjoyed the location of Sunset Pad. Convenient for beach's, grocery shopping, and Ted's Bakery (yummy pie)...Also the only Starbucks on that side of the island. This property is very cozy. Neighbor's are very quite. We also enjoyed being able to BBQ and eat on the patio.. Never want to stay at a hotel again.. Plan on coming again next spring break!!!

Sunset Pad worked wonderfuly for our group of six (family & friends). It was beautifully furnished and very comfortable for relaxing, reading, playing games. The kitchen was very well-equipped, which was great since we cooked in most of the time instead of going out. We enjoyed exploring the different beaches in the area. One of my favorite things at the cottage was sitting on the front balcony in the mornings drinking my coffee and listening to the birds. Sussi was so pleasant to deal with when I made the reservation. The neighborhood in which the cottage is located is mellow, yet with typical activities - ie, occasional maintainence/construction noise nearby, but not constant. oh yes, and really appreciated the beach towels so we didn't need to bring any! Had a great time, Sussi and Jerry - thank you!

The house at Sunset Beach was a very comfortable relaxing Hawaiian place to return to after an adventurous day!! The house was very clean, bright and airy. We loved the decor. The bedrooms were very comfortable with the bedding, ceiling fans, and constant breeze from the ocean flowing throughout the house. We always opened all the windows first thing in the morning. The outdoor living space was wonderful and enjoyed sitting out watching the sunset. It was close enough to the beach for a pleasant walk, but far enough away from the crowds. We enjoyed Ted's Bakery for lunch, going to Sunset Beach was the best. It was the prettiest beach by far and less crowds. We visited Waikiki Beach and was amazed at how many people occupied the beach compared to the Sunset Beach. The Foodland was nice to get all the supplies you need. We would definitely return to the Sunset Beach Pad and stay again. It was nice to have a home to return to. We also loved all the towels, kitchen utensils, the laptop computer, Ipod dock, the extra bedding for chilly nights, and the washer and dryer!! It is definitely worth looking into before renting a hotel room with just one room.

My friends and I loved staying at Sunset Pad! It was the perfect place to come home to after each day's activities. The accommodations were very comfortable, everything was thought of, and the location was perfect! We loved being a short walk from Ted's Bakery (we ate more pie than I'd like to admit :) ) The owners were wonderful to work with, and the new gazebo was a great evening relaxation spot! I'll be headed back to Oahu again soon, and will definitely think to stay here again!

We stayed at the Sunset Pad for a week at the beginning of March. The home had everything we needed and a great back patio for hanging out after long days at the beach. Just a quick walk from the beach, and a close walk to Ted's Bakery, the home was very well situated. We weren't sure about being in the town of Haleiwa or out of town near Sunset Beach, and we highly recommend this area, right in Sunset Beach. All the great surfing beaches are a short walk or ride away, as well as the great dining at Turtle Beach Resort. Highly recommended!

A Real Find

This rental was all it was advertised to be and more! The location close to the beach and bike path would have made it worth while alone. In addition it had so many amenities such as beach equipment, bicycles, computer, flat screen TV, and my personal favorite- a fully supplied kitchen with every detail covered. The patio with barbecue and lounge chairs plus a lanai with ocean view was wonderful for outdoor entertaining. And working with the landlord was the best experience I ever had. She was so helpful in so many ways that really impacted our stay.

We had six adults and this was the one place available that fit our price range. I was very happy with the views and the neighborhood (Sunset Beach, North Shore). Although it is about 45 mins from Waikiki, North Shore had beautiful uncrowded beaches and I enjoyed the tranquility much more than Waikiki. The master has an attached half bath. The other two bedrooms had twins, and there was Internet and even a small computer for us to use. There was a full bath with tub in the hallway. We saw bikes and snorkel gear but didn't get a chance to use them, although we used the beach towels. Also a plus is the downstairs washer/dryer and extra shower/toilet. Parking is on a driveway with two spaces available for guests, and while it fits three cars, it can be tight depending on how others parked.

North Shore Pleasure!

Our family of 5 had an absolutely fabulous time at this North Shore residence. Close enough to walk to beautiful Sunset Beach and a quick drive to many other North Shore beaches. Our family especially loved snorkelling in the calm waters (July/August) of Waimia Bay and even got to follow some sea turtles. The house is spacious, clean and has all the necessary amenities we could have hoped for. It was wonderful to open up all of the French doors facing the ocean and feel the beautiful trade winds. We also spent some quiet time out on the patio too. A nice quiet location and close to all that the North Shore has to offer. We’ll probably never stay in the busy touristy parts of the island again. Thanks for a great stay!!!!

This was a beautiful North Shore property which was just as good as hoped for! The location was wonderful, especially if you enjoy being away from the craziness of Waikiki. The home was beautiful and well-cared for, and was perfect for our family of five. It is within walking distance of Sunset Beach and Ted's Bakery. Other good places to eat were Shark's Cove Grill just down the road, and Ola...a nice restaurant right on the beach at nearby Turtle Bay Resort....where I celebrated my birthday with a wonderful dinner. If you just want to veg at home, the patio and deck are also perfect. Sussi is a wonderful owner who is delightful to work with. She really seems to enjoy sharing her Hawaiian home with others who love Hawaii. I would not hesitate to rent this property again, or to recommend it to anyone. It was great in every way!!

We spent 7 glorious nights at Sunset pad. We had stayed before as a couple and brought the whole family this time. We loved it before and the owners have done some nice upgrades to the furnishings and decor. It is clean comfortable for the 6 of us and a great base camp for day trips or for our twice daily walks to the local beach for a dip. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay on the North Shore. The house is clean and fresh and in a quiet and safe neighbourhood overlooking the ocean. It's spacious and well decorated with new appliances, nice furniture, and a newly renovated feel. They provided clean linens, beach towels, bikes and everything else you need for a fun and relaxing vacation. It's got a great location with only a short walk to Sunset Beach, Ted's Bakery (best plate lunches) and the bike path to Waimea Bay. Sunset Pad exceeded my expectations and I would have no hesitation recommending it to my family and friends.

We stayed at Sunset Pad for our Christmas vacation from Japan, and it was just GREAT!!! The rooms were very clean, and it had mostly all items that travelers would need such as cookware, towels as well as snorkeling and BBQ instruments. We enjoyed BBQ almost every night outside looking at beautiful stars. If you are lucky, at Haleiwa Beach, you can swim with many turtles during day. The house is located 1 min away (walking) from the Sunset Beach, 2 min away (walking) from Ted's bakery at which you can purchase good bakeries, 10 min away (driving) from a supermarket, and about 15 min away (driving) from Haleiwa town, very convenient!!! Thanks to Garry & Sussi, my vacation at Sunset Pad was one of the best holidays I've every had. I would like to come back close in the future!!!

Wonderful views, perfect location on the North Shore, easy walk to the beach and to Ted's Bakery. I really appreciated the three bedrooms with 5 beds! Very clean, and comfortable! My mother-in-law loved the queen bed and master bath. I loved the deck with the awesome views and french doors to let in the breeze. Thanks so much for letting us use your awesome place! I will be back.

Our family had an excellent stay at this rental. The home is kept quite clean and retains that "local" feel. The view from the balcony and patio is amazing! Having 3 bedrooms is convenient for larger groups. There is only one (large) full bath, but also a half bath in the master suite. Very nice updates including flat screen TV, refrigerator and fixtures throughout. All in all, it's a very nice place to stay in a tranquil area near the beach.

Very clean, well-maintained. Plenty of extra amenities, e.g., sheets, towels, were much appreciated. Patio was nice, outside furniture very comfortable. Centrally located to several nice beaches (we liked Sunset Beach the best). Lei Lei's at Turtle Bay has the best ribs I have ever tasted. Thanks for the free dessert coupons....

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

didn't want to leave!. Have stayed other places on the North Shore but this was by far the best. Great views from the living/dining rooms and kitchen. coctails on the balcony every night. Great location. Very short walk to the amazing sunset beach. Ate at Ted's several times also short walk. Pictures don't do the view justice. Can't wait to go back

This is the house. We had a great vacation here, the view is fantastic, the location perfect, a short walk to the beaches and Ted's Bakery. The view from both lanai's - incredible. Very confortable furniture and LCD TV for evening watch. Thanks a lot for the vacation of a lifetime

We had the best time at the "Sunset pad"!!! The house was very comfortable and tastefully furnished and decorated. Truly a home away from home! Thank you also Sussi & Gerry for being so accommodating and making us feel welcome. You made it easy for us to plan our stay in Hawaii all the way from Sweden.
