This condo was absolutely perfect! It is well stocked with all the amenities of home and then some. After a long day at the beach the kids (3 and 5) would play in the pool for hours and then be able to unwind in their own room watching a movie. The property is well maintained and very clean. This was by far one of the best vacations our family has taken. We will defiantly be back!!

I am writing this review from the oceanview living room at the condo. I have 2 more days and wanted to write my review early. What an amazing condo, location and view. No surprises. Everything is well thought out from dishes to towels to games. The location is the closest you could get .The beach is about15 ft away. Very large condo. Pool and hot tub are a nice change from the beach when you need a break. I will be back. I loved the weather and quiet time in Late April.

The Sunny Padre condo was perfect for our family's vacation. The ground floor location right on the beach was ideal for the adults and children in our group. The condo was well-equipped with everything we needed. From beach toys for the children (of all ages!), to frisbees for the young adults and beach chairs for the rest of us - it had everything. It felt more like a home than a rental unit and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our family made many memories that we will all cherish. The unit is well-maintained, clean, and just as nice as described in the listing. We definitely would recommend it to others and hope to stay there again ourselves!

We had such a wonderful time in SPI. The condo was warm and welcoming, comfortable, and very well stocked with everything from beach toys to kitchen tools. The view and access to the beach cannot be beat! The facilities were clean, well maintained, secure and the pool was very warm. It was so easy to work with Jim. Although a cold front followed us to Sunny Padre, it didn't matter. Sitting on a couch looking out of floor to ceiling windows at the beach was almost as wonderful as being out there under an umbrella. This condo is beautiful and is in a great complex, that is spotless and secure. Everything you could possibly need is available (bring your hair dryer though) soft sheets, fluffy towels, dishes and pots and pans galore! And the view, the view, the view, has to be the best view on the whole island. It was so hard to leave and I cannot wait to come back again. This is an excellent condo for families. Eat dinner at Dirty Al's for the best seafood and Yummy's for breakfast or lunch, delicious!

The pictures of the apartment were very accurate. The apartment had very nice furniture. The beds were comfortable. The view...well, it was lovely. You can look right out onto the beach from the living room or the master bedroom. The master bedroom is only partitioned off by a divider if privacy is an issue. There are three bedrooms. The other bedrooms are located in the back part of the apartment. There was all kinds of kitchen utensils needed to cook your dinner. There were beach items galore. Jim was very nice to work with. He answered emails in a timely manner. The most important item is the apartment was very clean. The people in the apartment complex were very friendly. For an apartment, it was very quiet as people seemed to respect others. The walls were thick enough so that you could not hear people in other units. South Padre Island is quiet in the winter. It was nice. It was very easy to get on and off the island. There are plenty of restaurants open on the island in the winter if you do not want to cook yourself. My daughter and I really had a great time on SPI. We are looking forward to coming back someday. We would rent from Jim again if it is available.

We have rented condos on South Padre many times, and this was the best. The view and location couldn't be beat. The condo has been recently rennovated. It is very clean as well with no signs of insects (something I worried about with a ground floor unit). The owner, Jim was a pleasure as well. This condo is great for families, from a pack-n-play to sandtoys and games, and plenty of space. We are hoping to rent this condo again next summer.

Our family had a great time at Sunny Padre! Even though we had a little rain - we were still able to enjoy the beach and the pool. Our condo was equipped with everything we needed - lots of extras - like toys, boogie boards, and beach umbrellas.

My family went down to Padre and stayed in Jim's wonderful condo! We had an absolute blast. We took my daughter (2years old) for the first time to the beach and it was so much fun! The location is ideal... you just walk out the back door and you are at the sand. The condo is in great updated condition and is stocked with linens and kitchen appliances/utensils. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation. We cannot wait to return!

This was our 3rd weeklong stay at Sunny Padre. The condo is roomy and spotless, the rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable, the location is convenient and the views are spectacular. The kitchen has anything and everything you would ever need. I can't say enough about the whole package! Communicating with the owners and staff is always quick and thorough. My e-mails and phone calls are answered swiftly and efficiently. My family and I would recommend this unit with enthusiasm! As far as activities, we "beach it" 90% of the time, cook at home, dine out at Dirty Al's , YUM, and walk the shore. There is swim time at the complex, which has a wonderful pool and lounging area. In and around town there are multitudes of activities: fishing, shopping, sea turtle nursery and rehab, kayaking, wind sailing etc. All in all, I feel this annual vacation for our family is my favorite and I'm sure the rest of the family agree!!!

This was a nice condo with new kitchen and huge bedrooms. Double full beds (rather than twins) in the third bedroom was a nice touch. Owner is great to rent from. He is efficient and organized, just like the condo. However, the number one feature of this condo is the ocean right out your door. It is great for families because you are only a few hundred feet from the water and you don't have to carry everything out to the beach for the day.This was such a convenience with kids. You can't beat a short walk to the condo to get food, refresh drinks or use the bathroom. This is a great place for a family vacation.

Cedar family vacation

This place was so perfect for a family vacation. I only wish the water park next door had been open. We took walks on the beach, swims in the ocean and pool, golfing, fishing, the girls rode horses on the beach while the boys drove four wheelers in the sand dunes, we grilled at the condo for dinner a couple of nights while enjoying the warm weather and beautiful ocean view, we also ate at some wonderful restaurants. This condo was very clean and spacious for our family of 6. Thank you for letting us stay at this wonderful condo. We hope to be back in a couple of years for the water park action! Owner response:The good news about the adjacent water park is that, in addition to the outdoor facility that is open seasonally, they will be developing an indoor water park as well. Both conveniently located to Sunny Padre! Stay tuned.

Spring Break 2011

We arrived at the tail end of Texas Spring Break, we were so delighted to find the condo in a nice, quiet area, well equipped, sparking clean and ready for us to hunker down for a couple of days until the entire state of Texas left SPI. Once things got a bit quieter, we were out and about, walked the beach twice a day, bbq-ed pretty much every night, enjoyed every single thing about the condo. Our kids are 15 and 13, they loved the big bedrooms and having their own bathroom, my husband and I woke up every morning and enjoyed the sunrise and our morning coffee outside. It was a wonderful week, I had been to North Padre when I was a kid, so this was a joy to share SPI with my husband and children. The condo has absolutely everything you could want or need, the kitchen is very well stocked, the beach toys are plentiful, beach towels are there ready for you, nice big white fluffy bath towels and being right on the beach is exactly where we wanted to be.

Sunny Padre is the best!

This is the second year my family has stayed at the Strong Family Condo. The condo is exactly as it is described. It is immaculate, well-maintained and has so many extras included (boogie boards, sand toys, beach chairs, etc). The condo is modern and updated and very comfortable. It fit our two families perfectly and being on the ground floor is so convenient! Jim is a wonderful host and so easy to work with. The weather was gorgeous, so our escape from Minnesota was spent mostly at the beach and the pool. The pool was warm, the grounds were clean and the beach was beautiful. We ate out at Louie's, Blackbeards, Dirty Al's, visited Sea Turlte Inc, and the kids had a blast on the Black Dragon Pirate Cruise. We loved our vacation and hope to go back for Spring Break 2012! I would strongly recommend this condo to anyone!

Owner response:Sunny Padre's relatively secluded location allows for a more family-friendly version of Spring Break, even during the height of the college weeks in March. I would also recommend the Big Donkey for Mexican dinners and Ted's for a no-nonsense, filling breakfast. Our family oftentimes walks to Yummie's for great coffee and breakfast while on the island.

We were in awe of the condo's location on the beach, and we were mesmerized by the beautiful view of the ocean. And we were amazed at how much there is to do on South Padre Island. The kids especially enjoyed horseback riding on the beach, dolphin-watching, and the Brownsville Zoo. The adults loved strolling on the beach and dinner at Dirty Al's. Lots of fabulous memories...We hope to return!

Very relaxing and comfortable

We have stayed in numerous SPI hotels and condos over the past 15 years, but this condo was by far our best experience. All as described and stocked way above average for our day to day needs. Only negative for me was there are no windows to open and enjoy the sea breezes. Coming from Minnesota in the middle of winter, we look forward to being able to leave the windows open, especially at night.

Owner response:I agree, it would be nice to have a window or two open to let the ocean breeze in. Unfortunately, this would put such a strain on the A/C system that it would prove problematic. Plus, humidity and building interiors don't play together well in South Texas.

Staying at the Sunny Padre condo was amazing for my hubsband and me. The property is AS GOOD as it can get and opens to a quiet area of the beachfront. Your master bedroom and living door open to the sand, it is wonderful. We walked the entire island and Jim's place is located on the south end of the island and is really peaceful; there is nothing more private and wonderful. Jim Strong the owner was very easy to work with, quick response and professional, no delays and fair. I'd say if you are looking for a wonderful, peaceful, beachfront spot on Padre, look no more!

A Family Time Capsule

My husband and I went for my 50th birthday with our three 20+ children in tow. We knew that this was the best way to corral them for a discussion about their goals and dreams and future plans. Surprisingly enough, the atmosphere of the condo and the beach seemed to encourage the kind of comraderie and closeness that allowed those discussions to happen easily and naturally. The place is magical--waking up to the sunrise, falling asleep to the waves. We often cooked together and the young adults chose to stay with us in the evenings rather than go out to bars or dances. They loved their rooms and the accommodations so much that they didn't really want to be away at night. The best fishing . . . Gilbert on Capn' Murphy's boat. They are down to earth and honest. The best eating . . . Manuels over the bridge near the lighthouse, the Seafood Ranch right near the condo, and the Big Donkey which serves an excellent mango margerita and taquitos. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the place immaculate thanks to Ms. Charlie, and, with the exception of a grill, we had everything we could possibly need to feel like the place was truly ours for a week. Unforgettable. Thank you for making this memory possible for our family.

Exceeded our Expectations

Our stay at the Strong's condo in Sea Vista made our family vacation this summer. We are a family of five, with children 4, 2 and 5 months old, so the convenience of first floor and beach side was exactly what we were looking for and we were not disappointed. The views are breath taking directly from the condo. Being on the south side of the island where it was quiet, yet easily accessible to good food and other acitivities made the location superb. This condo provided more than we could have imagined, besides the obvious number of bedrooms and bathrooms and general ammenities. The Strong's unit was stocked with beach toys, chairs, umbrella, a grill, any appliance and kitchen untensil necessary, and all the simple necessities for making your stay easy. Thank you for an amazing week!

Our stay was so much fun! First of all, the condo was very clean when we arrived. The bedrooms are spacious...not cramped rooms like some condos...The view is spectacular! The entire living room and master bedroom are floor to ceiling windows just steps from the beach! We had three young children and I was spoiled at Sunny Padre because the kids would go right outside the door and play football, fly a kite, and just play in the sand and I could see everything they were doing from INSIDE the AC condo! Parents of small children will appreciate this. The two rooms in the back were very cool and private...perfect for napping. The beds were extremely comfortable and I am picky about that! Lots of beach toys, board games for all to play. Having the 3 flatscreens with cable was also a bonus with small children... I would just send them to another room to watch I Carly and SpongeBob. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The only thing that could be fixed is several of the vertical blinds had come off in the living area. I was worried people could see in through gaps at night and the sun would come in through gaps in the mornings. There are so many wonderful things to list... another nice thing is location. The codo is right on the beach. You do have to carry your beach gear a little but not far at all. We watched people lugging all of their stuff from other units and felt so lucky to be right there on the ground floor off of the beach! We enjoyed the condo and would love to go again next summer....we would not stay anywhere else in SPI! I would highly recommend this condo to anyone! Jim, thanks so much for helping us!

We have spent many vacations in SPI, but the accommodations this year were exceptional. We arrived to an extremely clean and wonderfully decorated condo. The kitchen is well stocked with ample cooking utensils and there were plenty of beach towels, chairs, toys, etc. for our use. The photos accurately depict this well maintained property, and the owner was most helpful and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this piece of rental property for your next vacation to SPI. My family of 6...husband and myself, 2 daughters, and 2 grandchildren stayed at this beautiful condo the week of June 5. The pictures of the place is what caught my attention...and it is just as beautiful as the pictures! The condo was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The bedrooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, and very comfortable...each with its own TV. The condo opens directly onto the beach...the morning sunrise was gorgeous. The kitchen was well stocked...great appliances...beautiful counter tops. There were enough beach towels for us and bath towels for each day, but we did wash each night to be ready to go the next day. All in all...I'd say we loved staying there!!! Would definitely recommend it to anyone with a family...there were some beach toys, umbrellas, a canopy. And right next door was Schiltterbahn...but wait until your last day to go...or risk a major sunburn!! Mr. Strong was very prompt in responding to any and all questions that I had...very cordial.

Movie Quality Nice

One word sums up this location "Unbelievable!" There is not a better location on the beach for the price with what is included. Stainless steel appliances, beach boards and toys for kids, perfectly clean, etc... I could list 30 things. We brought many things not knowing what would be needed and Jim already had a lot of the things we already brought. The locations is perfect for a family. Very quiet, walking distance to Schlitterbahn, and feet from the actual beach. It was great to relax inside and rest from the heat and watch my kids play in the sand right outside the huge windows. Huge King beds in 2 of the rooms and 2 very comfortable queen beds in the 3rd room. My kids did not want to leave because the beds were better in the condo than at home. We will definitely be back and I would recommend Jim's condo to everyone else.

Sunny Padre was Perfect!

My family recently stayed at Sunny Padre for a 4-night vacation and we were all very impressed with the accommodation. The condo had been recently rennovated with may upgrades and is very clean. Best of all, is how close you actually are to the beach. Just outside the condo's living room you have direct access to the beach making it very easy to get the whole family (and all of your gear) to the beach for a great day in the sand and surf. Of all my trips to South Padre, I have never stayed anywhere that offers as convenient of a location. It is safe to say my family has found our new favorite place to stay when visiting South Padre. We stayed recently at this condo unit. It was awesome! Everything was just as was pictured on the site. Bedrooms are spacious and having the washer/dryer in the unit makes it feasible to pack light! There were six of us (my husband and I and our kids - ages 28, 23, 18, 15). We all thoroughly enjoyed it. The view was just wonderful. The beach is literally right there. We had coffee & watched sunrises each morning on the patio. It was a perfect time of year to go as well - if you want to avoid the crowds. In addition to enjoying the beach, ocean waves, boogie boarding, surfing lessons, the pool - we saw many cool things. Went to the Sea Turtle Inc rescue center - very intersting and worthwhile. We also went north on the island until the road ends (about 10 miles or so), and explored the uninhabited sand dunes. Very cool, and many more larger sea shells. We did the Dolphin watch and some bay fishing from the company on the Port Isabel side of the bridge. We decided to try the less commercialized looking boat company on the right as you are facing the bridge looking at S.Padre Island. We had a great time, and they were very friendly and accomodating. Only $14 for Dolphin watch, and $20 for bay fishing (included rods, bait, etc). When walking down to the jetty - we saw many people fishing off the jetty, and also saw a sea turtle swimming around by the jetty. Several mornings people were fishing on shore down the beach a little bit. One morning they caught a stingray that we saw as they were releasing it. And another morning we watched them catch a small shark. Sounds scary, but it wasn't. They weren't up in the shallow normally - just were caught and brought in. Cool to see. Our kids took flashlights out one of the nights, and saw many sand crabs. If you jump on the sand or run/stomp - they will come out briefly. Enough to see them for a minute. Also was fun watching the kiteboarders. VERY fun vacation and great accomodations. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone. Staff and other condo owners/guests were all very friendly as well.

We just got back home yesterday, and I wanted to thank you for the use of your excellent condo. It was a great home away from home, and my 3 kids (15,14,12)had a wonderful time. Personally I loved waking up each morning with a coffee on the patio watching the sun rise, and then taking a very short walk to the beach for a bit of exercise. On arrival the place was spotless and tidy, and the kitchen was very good, allowing for the occasional homemade meals. One of the best 1 week vacations I have had, and Jim's condo is definitely something I would recommend to anyone with a family planning to go to Padre Island.

Our stay on South Padre Island in Sea Vista #120 (aka Sunny Padre) was an outstanding break from the harsh winter in the Midwest. Snow from California to Maine, and sunny skies and roaring waves at the door in a great condo. The convenience of being able to walk out to a patio adjacent to the beach or take another fifty steps and be on the beach was unbeatable. Being able to soak up the sun and enjoy the surf from the ground floor patio was wonderful, and if it is a little chilly you can still enjoy a breathtaking view from the living room. We enjoyed many walks on the beach collecting shells and burning off calories acquired at some of the most reasonable and best restaurants we have ever eaten at. Sunny Padre is the best location we could ever ask for and we can’t wait to go back,

Jim and Family- Thank you for the use of your condo. We had a wonderful time! The condo had everything we needed and lots of outdoor toys for kids. Since it did rain, we played every game you had there. My 6 year old son loved playing in the sand and on the hill right out side the condo. It was nice to be able to let him go out and run while still being able to see him from the patio or inside. For Renters- There are a few must see's while you are there- The Turtle Rescue Center on the island, shelling at the other end of island (the 11 mile drive is worth it for the shells you find), and Pirate Ship Cruse out of Port Isabella. My husband and I stayed in your wonderful condo for a week in January, 2010 and it was one of our best vacations on S. Padre yet. Our friends are gourmet cooks and they loved the well-equipped, efficient kitchen which meant plenty of great dinners for all 4 of us. We spent every morning on the patio with coffee and books, watching the waves come in and the brown pelicans fly by. We all highly recommend your condo for anyone who wants a luxurious place to stay, close to the water and to everything S. Padre and Port Isabella offers.

Wow. What a great experience. One of the few condos on the gulf that has ocean views from the main floor. Walk out of your condo and step immediately into the sand! We felt like we had our own private beach. Only one other (5 storey) building to the right of ours. The building on the left is not finishing being constructed, so extremeemly quiet. Right smack dab next to Schlitterbacun water park too. Lots of beach toys and everything in the condo you could possibly need. While there BE SURE to go see the dolphins with the South Padres Island's Dolphin Research & Sea Life Center. The two owners are loved and trusted by the dolphisn due to all their rescue work with the dolphins. Consequently, you will have an experience which cannot be matched by other dolphin watch companies. We had at least 15 dolphins who were taking turns coming right up to the little motor boat and caressing it with their bodies and leaping and frolicking right in front of us. One of the owners (Scarlet) was so excited to see her beloved dolphins (weho she has given individual names to) that the dolphins responded immediately to her excitement by coming right up to the sides of the boat. Plus your $20 will go toward a very good cause in rescuing these dolphins who are often killed or hurt by the island's Wave Runners/Jet Ski rentals. Please do check them out. You cannot ask for a better place to stay at the beach than this condo! If you are looking to be close to the beach but away from large crowds, this is it. If you enjoy a beautiful Gulf view the moment your eyes open in the morning, this is it. If you have children and you want to be able to see them play in the sand while you sit on the patio in the shade, this is it. And if you want to rent from someone who will give you good service and make you feel welcome in their home, this is the place you want to be. The personnel at the complex are very friendly and helpful. Parking is nearby; carts are available for carrying your belongings. It is very quiet and peaceful here. The condo is well-stocked with everything you need for a great beach vacation, but if you just want to sit back and relax and enjoy the beach without getting sunburned or sandy, you can do so from this location. Don't hesitate to contact Jim and rent this condo. You will not be disappointed!

So glad we found the Strong's condo. We've gone to S. Padre for over 25 years and looked at other condos, but none compare to the location of Sea Vista, and none compare to the Strong's condo. It's so convenient to just walk out of the condo onto the beach and they keep it in immaculate condition. Our kids loved the big beds & TV's in each rm. We'll definitely go back!

The condo was wonderful. Our family had a great time. We loved everything about South Padre and Sea Vista. It was a great location on one end of the beach. Never too crowded. We loved walking straight out to the beach. We tried the pool also and it was great. The updates on the condo were perfect. Thanks for sharing--we want to come back already.

The condo is as described and has everything one will need for the beach (unbrellas, towels, etc). Clean and well kept. Access to beach could not be easier! Lovely views of the sunrise. A true prize. Fun for fishing, snorkeling, surfing. Have no hesitation in renting.

This is our second stay at the Strong's condo, so that already says how much we love it. This June 1-10 we had another great family vacation and enjoyed all of the renovations and new furnishings especially the kitchen area and the new TVs for watching the NBA Finals! As others have said, it is so easy and friendly to contract with Kristen and Jim --- one feels almost like family. Our stay was filled with fun days at the beach, pool, sea turtle rescue and eating seafood! And we were in the perfect condo to enjoy beach viewing and privacy. Also the security of Sea Vista is very good and the personnel most helpful if you have need of assistance. It is our favorite beach vacation spot in Texas!! Hope to go again before too long. 5/14 - 5/19/09 We had a family reunion in South Padre. All of us were very pleased with spotless and cozy accommodations. We just got back from a week at the Strongs' condo and would go back in a heartbeat. First, the location is great: it's convenient but also very private, with a nice little sand dune right by the door. And the beach is really just steps away, with a gorgeous sunrise view. Second, the condo itself is so comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed. We have 3 children and the space was perfect. The staff was attentive and Jim made sure all the details were in place. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.

Jim: We had a lovely stay at your condo over Spring Break. We were a little hesitant to stay during Spring Break, but found that the condo is far enough from the Coca Cola Beach and such that the stay is quiet enough. We loved the condo and the fact that when you said it was right on the beach, it actually was right on the beach. The beach chairs and umbrella awning was wonderful as was the complete set-up. We will definitely spend some time there again and will pass the information on to friends wanting to stay in South Padre.

We,(2 couples from Canada) stayed in Jim Strong's condo the last week of Feb and 1st week of March 2009 and we just simply did not want to leave!! For those who may be looking for an excellent, clean and spacious condo in an excellent location, Jim's condo at Sea Vista in South Padre Island needs to be high on your list and is sure to exceed your expectations. Everything stated on the website is true ...the condo has been completely redone, has all the amenities you will ever need and indeed you just can't get a location any closer to the beach. All the conveniences of home complete with ocean view and a few steps onto the sand! New king size beds were fantastic. Well suited for up to 3 couples and would also be a great location for those with young children. As a plus, you are not likely to find a better owner to deal with than Jim Strong!! We will be back!!

We had a great time, the property has just been completely renovated and is very nice,it would be good for up to six adults, more if there are children. The property is right on the beach which is fantastic and the pool is on the back side out of the wind.

We were at Sunny Padre the first week of February 09.The condo is fantastic, walk out the door and onto the beach.The view from inside was like looking at a picture of the Gulf everyday.The inside of the condo is all new and not a day would go by without someone in are group saying how great the place is.Jim Strong went way above and beyond to help us and we will definitely try to book here again.The complex is very secure and is in a great location for visiting the places on the Island.

Thank you Strong family. Being our first time, we were very hesitant about renting a condo on line. After a wonderful week in Padre, we are hooked!!!! Sunny Padre was Everything advertised and then some. The Strong's Condo had everything you could want! I loved the King bed in the master bedroom...it was Very soft, get firm to the body...the View...breathtaking! Listening to the ocean waves in the morning and getting up only to walk out the patio on a little grass then on to the white sand! Ground level was awesome! I'm going there again!!

Our family and friends just returned from staying at the Strong's condo. We had a Great time. The condo was fantastic. The pictures and description on cyberrental was exactly the way it was. It was more than we anticipated. The condo was very clean, it was well stocked with all the extras. The beach access was great and the view beautiful. We appreciate the Strong family, they were most accommodating. We would recommend this condo 100%.
