If you enjoy the quiet beauty of a rural setting, the Historic UX Ranch is a convenient home base for exploring the entire Black Hills, Badlands, Lakota Country, Sturgis and Deadwood areas. We are centrally located in the beautiful Battle Creek Valley on the eastern edge of the Black Hills.
Our newly converted Bunk house is approximately 1500 square feet with four large bedrooms with queen-size beds, full kitchen, dining area, living room and His and Hers bathrooms with four showers. There is plenty of room in the wide hallway if your group needs extra tables or you have people who would like to bring their own air mattresses.
The panoramic view to the west overlooks our horse pasture where deer and wild turkeys are common visitors. Most nights you can hear a distant coyote howl.The Black Hills are beautiful just up the valley. The view to the east is our hayfield and on toward the Badlands only 10 miles down the road.
The Bunk house was originally an extra barn we used beside the granary but now has a new life as a very comfortable rustic home away from home. The curve of the granary can still be seen in one corner of the entry. We will continue the work on the landscaping, porches and garden area this season and you will see this fact reflected in our reasonable rates for 2008.
Horses are welcome. We have a covered barn or open corrals for them at a nominal fee. If you have a telescope, bring it, or if you just love a big sky full of stars, come to the UX Ranch and enjoy the view! The meadowlarks are singing. Hope to see you soon!

Sturgis Motorcycle Rally..Aug 08-Aug 15--$400/night (4 night minimum).

Rates are plus 5.5% tax. 3 night minimum stay. 50% deposit required to book.
Some two night possible between weekly rentals.
Due to the short peak season we must be firm on deposits, minimum stay and prices.
We have a 3 mo. cancellation policy with 10% fee.

This place is NOT for the person expecting a 5 star hotel like stay. This is FAR better. We were able to hang out, barbeque, roast marshmellows and play card games. There would be storms that would roll through the area and we had an amazing view of it all. I have 5 kids and they were in heaven. They have a collection of cowboy hats there and every morning the kids would grab the hats and start playing cowboys. I took some amazing pictures of them running around the yard. The kind of pictures that will hang in my house for years. Whenever we were out seeing the sights in the area, they would ask if it was time to go back to the barn. Maybe my kids are crazy, but they were in heaven. Now like I said at the beginning, if you can't handle some bugs, some water and some rustic living then this place might not be the best for you. BUT if you have a big family who needs and loves space to run around and create lifelong memories. Then stay here. You won't regret it. My kids already asked if we can go back this year. We won't be back this year, but anytime we head west I hope to find a way to make it back to the Bunk house.
