Family Christmas

We stayed at the Buffalo ranch for Christmas with our family and would highly recommend this destination. The hosts are friendly and accommodating, the property is beautiful, and the home is warm and cozy with everything one would need. The town of Golden is very close and Kicking Horse Mountain too for skiing. We enjoyed seeing and hearing about the buffalo and the wolves. We had some beautiful weather and, on those days, the mountains and the river are pristine and majestic. In the evening, the stars are brilliant...and you can hear the wolf howls echoing in the valley up against the mountains. Absolutely beautiful location, wonderful hosts, a warm and cozy home to relax in...highly recommended!

As a party of 3 seeking some time off in a charming place, we were very happy with the guest house at Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch. Leo and Karen were extremely welcoming and made it very easy for us to settle in the house for a couple of days. The house is clean and in a great location: close enough to Golden if you need but remote enough to feel completely relaxed. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Recommended for:Sightseeing.

Our group of 6 had a fantastic time at the Buffalo ranch. The rustic sauna was a highlight - it was incredible to dip in the cool stream under the stars to cool down! The fire pit area, the hot tub and the buffalo tours were all great, and the scenery was incredible. Leo and Karen (the hosts) were welcoming and generous. Hopefully we'll be back!

The Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch is everything we expected and a whole lot more. Golden is a quaint little town nestled between Glacier and Yoho National Parks, so there are endless opportunities to "do" in and around Golden. However, there was so much to do on the ranch we hardly ventured out. The hosts, Karen and Leo, were amazing, and by the end of our trip we felt like we had new best friends. They run a real Buffalo Ranch which was the main reason we were drawn to their place. There is a beautiful little trail to a viewing platform so you can see the buffalo up close. The bull, Chester, is a formidable sight and we were always in awe when we were near him. There are multiple trails all over the property, and we loved going down to the river and playing in the "sand". We were also allowed to use the host’s wood burning sauna, which my mom took advantage of every evening. There is a little creak that runs right next to the sauna so when she got too hot would pop into the creek for a quick cool down! The spacious home was extremely comfortable with more than enough room for our party of 5 (3 adults and 2 kids). There is a big yard and a hot tub which we were in every day. I highly recommend the Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch. We can’t wait to go back!

My favourite place in the world!! The guest house feels like home every time I walk into it. We are always treated like family, not just guests. Beautiful property and scenery, and truly wonderful people. We go back every year!

This is and always will be my dream vacation spot. It's so cozy, quiet, beautiful....and perfect. This place has been a part of mine and my girlfriends lives for years now, and every year we love it more and more. And what started out to be only a weekend trip, thru the years we have extended our days there and still hate it when we have to leave. Thank you Karen and Leo making it feel like home away from home for us and spoiling us with being so accomadating to our every want. You cant get any better than this.
Owner response:Thank you ladies for choosing the ranch as your reunion spot. We love how you sink into the house and know it as your own when you visit. We look forward to the hearty laughter and joy that you all bring with you!
