Excellent public transport connections mean that the Castle District and caves, Andrássy Avenue, the Hungarian Parliament, the State Operahouse - indeed the whole World Heritage area are within very easy reach.
Located about 10 minutes walk from the river Danube – and within 5 minutes of parks, shops, and public transport this apartment is situated in a perfect location from which to explore one of the world’s great cities. 15 minute leisurely walk to the historic St. Luke Baths (Lukács Fürdö).

Between the two of them they give excellent access to most of the city.
A major shopping centre (Mammut) and its adjoining (excellent) food market are both within 10 minutes walk from the door and even nearer there are two local supermarkets, a fruit’n veg. shop, a drug store (health/beauty products store), a pharmacy, and a 24h grocery store.

Brilliant Base in Budapest
Brilliant Base in Budapest
I have nothing but praise for this apartment. It is in an excellent location, 10 minutes walk to the Danube and 2 minutes to a tram stop which pretty much takes you wherever you need to go.The apartment is charming, spotlessly clean and comfortable, with just about every facility you need. Even though the temperature was in the 30's during our visit, it was always a cool, safe, quiet haven to return to. The owners were wonderfully helpful and welcoming:from the enquiry process right through to being greeted they were a mine of information. We have rented many apartments in Europe and this was one of our favourites. We are adamant we will return to Budapest one day and could not hope to stay anywhere better. Thank you so much, Gordon and Kati!

Owner response: Thank you Helen for choosing our apartment and we’re delighted that you enjoyed your stay there. The high ceilings and thick walls of this spacious period apartment keep it cool and airy in the summer months. The same thick walls, and an excellent heating system, keep it warm and cosy in the wintertime.

Decisamente consigliabile.

Thanks to this apartment we were feeling at home for two weeks in Budapest. This house has a very distinctive character. A place where you will find rest after a day of walking, looking and amazing. Special to us: Architecture in general, Museum of Fine arts, the Bridges, the Market halls, Coffeehouses, House of Terror, Memento Park, Viziváros, Museum of Design, The Zoo, Castle Hill, Cemetary Kerepesi temetö and the Railway Museum Vasúttörténeti Park. Difficult: The language but almost everyone spoke English. Nice: The trams, buses and metro are free for pensioners like me. The apartment was clean, the kitchen was very well equiped. So we cooked a meal every day. There is a good vegetablestore nearby (Bimbo Ut). The Bakery Josephine provided us with delicious bread. So, if you want to visit Budapest this apartment is a excellent choice. M.Munnik, Netherlands

Owner response: Thank you for your review. We’re glad you liked the apartment. Budapest is often a popular weekend-break destination – but such short visits don’t really give you enough time to see all that it has to offer. We’ve had several longer stay guests praise it as a great place for a family holiday. Our apartment is ideal for self catering holidays with not only a well equipped kitchen but also a range of great shops within very short distance. It also has excellent transport connections to all the sights via Budapest’s very reliable and very frequent public transport network.
Modern apartment with character.

Our family, 2 adults and 2 children 6 and 9 enjoyed 8 days stay in this apartment. It is spacious, very bright with high ceilings and furnished with some lovely antique pieces. All areas were spotless and the kitchen was well equipped. The apartment is in a great location and only 2 minutes walk from a lovely park with a playground. Some things which would have been useful were an electric kettle, a shower curtain and some new pillows. Also the beds in the second bedroom are extendable childrens beds, not really suitable for adults.

Owner response: Thank you for your review – we’re glad you liked the apartment and its location. The twin beds in the second bedroom are full-size adult single beds when fully extended. They measure 90x208cm (3’ x 6’10”). Indeed, adult guests who’ve used them have remarked how comfortable they are. Being contractible means we can also safely accommodate children – since regular single beds are not really appropriate for them. The other items have since been taken care of.
We had a fantastic time in Budapest, this apartment was perfect for us, two adults and a toddler. The washing machine was a lifesaver!

As the previous guest described in his testimony, we can easily share his views and confirm his praises. The app. is fairly large, well-equipped, the kitchen has all the utensils one might need, and the comfort and enjoyment of resting in the beautiful living room is really making it hard to leave the app. in the first place. Gordon and Kati were fantastic hosts supplying us with all kind of information regarding arrival, parking, shopping, eating,...you name it, they had a fast answer for every inquiry we had. Apartment is situated in a very nice 2. district, both the center and the historical buildings from either sides of Danube are within hand's reach, with abundance of nice restaurants, local eateries, cafes, and even one Mammut shopping center nearby. What we particularly enjoyed was the Millenaris park which is some 10 minutes walk from the apartment - as we were staying during the Advent season, we were fortunate enough to attent the WAMP - design and gastro fair, which was a pure delight for both our eyes and the palates. All in all, the stay in Budapest was great, and when we come back in springtime, we hope this apartment will be available for rent again:)

Comfy and equipped
Comfy and equipped
We had a great time here. No complaints. The apartment is warm, bright and well-equipped, especially if you like to cook! Big fridge, lots of kitchen gadgets, plus kid-sized utensils and cups. I especially appreciated the washer. The cell phone was a particularly thoughtful touch. If you are coming by car, pay very careful attention to your e-mailed information! Gordon and Kati gave us very thorough information about everything, including parking near the apartment. We still got confused and got a ticket (about 16E). Next time I think we'd leave the car home and just take the tram everywhere. The important stuff is all nearby. Bring a GPS either way! The layout of that city defies description... it's like New York without any rhyme or reason to the streets. Our 6yo son loved the zoo and I particularly appreciated all the American style food available in the nearby Mammut shopping center (it's a nice mall actually). The castle district is super close. There are crafts, traditional clothing, and beautiful handmade tablecloths. This area can easily take two days of just walking around enjoying beautiful sights like the Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion. Food for our family of 4 was around 20E per meal. The nice restaurant across the street has delicious food. We preferred cooking breakfast in the apartment; the little shop downstairs has fresh eggs, juice and fruit. Don't be afraid to pop in there - we checked, the prices are fair, the lady is friendly, and hand signals work great. We were satisfied with little samplings here and there, but for the more avid explorer, Gordon and Kati provide a stack of brochures and maps in the dining room area. If you still need more, there's a nice tourist office in the castle district. Go, go! Highly recommend.

Une location très confortable, très bien située dans un quartier calme à 2 pas du Danube. Si nous revenons à Budapest, nous choisirons à nouveau cette adresse, sans aucun doute!

About the owner: We're an Irish/Hungarian couple with three children. We bought the apartment to be our home in Budapest during our 6 year stay in Hungary. We started our family here and have lots of amenities for younger guests too. Eventually the time came to relocate abroad and that's how the holiday rental opportunity came about.
