Nestled in a community of cottages, this home was absolutely delightful. We wanted a romantic getaway, cozy fireplace, brisk walks on the beach and this place has all that and more. The cottage is cozy enough that the two of us didn't get lost inside, and large enough with a fantastic playroom/loft to allow families plenty of space. A sunny back deck and hammock made us long for summer days, while the giant pine tree lashed it's branches at us in the high winds. The owner and her friend were very helpful and all was as advertised. We highly recommend!

We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend because we were visiting family in the area who didn't have enough room for all of us. Initially we thought we'd just get a motel room, but we are so glad we chose to stay at the cottage. This cottage has everything you need, is quite roomy inside, and has a nice yard. We enjoyed walking down to the water and just wished it were summertime so we could enjoy it more. We would definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our stay in Old Saybrook. The house is great and was very flexible for our guests. The beach was a short walk away, and the backyard and deck are fantastic. (this is problable the most private place on the street) We were able to BBQ and enjoy our friends with all the things we would have at home. Yvette is GREAT to deal with and any concerns..(only 1) were attended to right away. We look forward to coming back as we feel like this is "OUR" family house too....THANK YOU!!!!!

Although our reason for traveling to this area was not for pleasure (funeral), my family and I took comfort staying in a great little home instead of a hotel. We were able to all be together and sit by the fire reflecting on the wonderful family memories we all shared together. The kitchen was just perfect to cook a great breakfast and the town was wonderful to park and just walk through all the great shops and have a fantastic lunch. We also took a walk down to the beach (wish it were summer) and watched the ocean for abit and just relaxed. I will definately be back to this house when the warm weather arrives so we can BBQ on the back deck and go back to the beach. Thank you so much for providing us with a real "HOME AWAY"
Owner response:Thank you for your review. We have done a lot of upgrades to our property recently and it's nicely rewarded

We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was much bigger than we had expected - which was perfect for inviting friends & family over to celebrate our 4 year olds birthday party. I was thrilled to have access to a dishwasher. We were very happy with the rental - our daughter (4y/o) was even sad to leave - it was just so cozy.
Owner response:Thank you for your great review that gives justice to the hard work we have been doing to keep this property in mint condition.

Our family of 5 stayed here on a recent September weekend. The property was beautiful - spotlessly clean, restful, nicely furnished and with all necessary linens, towel, kitchen equipment - exactly as described on this site, or, actually, even better. The cottage is in a small, safe sub-community of mixed year-round and summer housing. There is a small private beach a 5-minute walk from the house, and many restaurants, larger beaches, and recreational activities (boating, bowling, mini-golf, movies) are within a 15-minute drive. Huge outlet malls are about 20 minutes by car. There really isn't much you could want to do that isn't readily available here. We were tired from a family wedding followed by a hectic week in New York, so we mostly sat on the large back deck, barbecued, and walked to the beach together. A perfect weekend, in a perfect place.

The cottage was perfect for our girl's weekend. It was much more spacious than it looked like in the pictures. The deck and the yard were great. We were there in September and it wasn't quite beach weather, but it was a nice walk to the water. Overall we had a great time. Thanks!
Owner response:We are so glad that your enjoyed your vacation. You were fabulous guests, we hope that you will come and enjoy the shoreline again sometime. Take care

My wife & i were visitng from the UK with our 2 young children. This house was available at short notice as it was right at the start of the season. The house was much larger than we needed/expected. Nice bathroom and adequate kitchen (but we didn't use it much anyway). The air conditioning units are window mounted & as it was early in the season weren't fitted yet. Owner very accomodating when asked to get them installed. Gas BBQ & wifi were an added bonus. Really enjoyed our stay. Would recommend Harveys Beach on Plum Bank Road if you are looking for a little sun!

We spent a quiet and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday in this cozy cottage. Nicely decorated, clean, everything worked. We spent a lot of time walking to the nearby waterside, playing in the generous-sized yard, and enjoying the games available in the house. Plenty of cookware, plates and utensils for a large family Holiday feast. Clearly the owner cares about the condition of the house and offering a positive experience for her guests.

The cottage is charming as advertised and also very snug with a good and reliable heating system for winter. Quiet street, many unoccupied cottages. Very nice cottage for two people or family of four. While there are beds for more, I think it could get a bit claustrophobic in the winter. Good TV, DVD and many books. Upstairs, above the master queen bed are two large, open-able skylights to let in the night breezes and follow the turning of the leaves from the huge trees overhead. The skylight in the breakfast nook was romantic also. The WiFi internet is broad band and had full bars throughout the cottage, even in the upstairs bedroom - important for us as software developers - this was a working vacation and we able to service our clients. Yvette was very responsive about broken or missing items and responded within a short time with the needed items. She had done quite a bit of work on the cottage before we arrived and was at it again just after we left. The location was perfect for us as we were on a seafood and beach walk vacation. The Old Saybrook town beach is less than five minutes away with it's virtually deserted huge tidal sand and mud flats for walking and being soothed by the waves. Less than two minutes away is the best seafood shop we've ever found. Not only fresh seafood at a reasonable price, but wonderful homemade seafood bisques and clam cakes. Across the street from the seafood shop is a wonderful seafood shack (lobster rolls, fried clams, etc.). We will be back.

This is my 5th time staying at this house. I've been staying here for 3 years. My home away from home. Great location. Very private, nice back yard, deck with grill. Just adorable with splashes of color in artwork everywhere. Great place to stay anytime of year. You can sit by the fire in winter or go to the beach in summer. The house comes with everything you need. Will be staying again in summer. Highly recommend.

This cottage was warm and filled with lots of charming art pieces. The property was clean and well maintained, the kitchen had been done over within the last few weeks and was done by two artist making it very unique. The owner owns another home in Guilford that we have stayed in last year and she did everything to make sure that we had things that were needed, such as a stoller for our baby and a high chair. The fireplace was beautiful an extra bonus The house had a fully equiped kitchen and we were surprised to see that no details were missed. The house was very clean and we could not find anything except a screen on the back door that needed to be fixed. We have already booked for next year since the owner offered us a nice discount and is very easy to work with. The Guest book provided us with everything we needed to be able to know the area and to find all the different attractions. I would also like to mention that a house so close to the beach area ,I was surprised to feel such a peace place under a huge pine tree surrounded by woods on one side of the house, The street is very private and a great get away.

We were extremely disappointed and saddened by the condition of this cottage. Based on past reviews and the pictures on this website, we expected to find a gorgeous little place. Unfortunately, in its present condition we would not recommend it to anyone. It is in desperate need of cleaning, maintenance, and updating. Many items listed as provided were not in the house. The town of Old Saybrook and the neighborhoods surrounding the house are gorgeous. Easy access to Hwy 95 and Hwy 1. The town is close to Mystic, CT. About an hour from Rockport, RI. You can drive pretty much all over the state of CT and make it a day trip.
Owner response:I would like to say, that I was out of the country dealing with medical issues , When I arrived home I was very upset to see the condition of my cottage.A place I have owned for over 20 years and have taken great pride in. The housekeeper that had been hired and paid did a horrible job, the landscaper did not care for the property like he would have if I would have been close by. I found broken items in my yard... Many items that we provide were missing from the cottage... I was shocked to see how the property looked in the 4 months I was away. we are working overtime to correct each and ever issue that has been neglected..

My husband and I took our children in May, we had a lovely time. The house was in perfect condition, it was very clean and comfortable. The yard was so serene, the kids loved playing outside. We cannot wait to come back again next year. It was like a home away from home. Nice shops close by and the beach was also very nice. We found it to be a great place to stay and we would highly recommend this to our friends and family.

My friends and I rented the cottage for new years. The cottage was outstanding and beyond our expectations. We didn't get to go swimming or go to the beach really, but the neighborhood is great and the house is neat and tidy. A great stay overall.

During the last two weeks of September 2006, my sister and her family stayed at your delightful cottage. We, the sisters and friends all met there to visit and play with the children. I found the cottage all and more than you advertise. I took tons of pictures, even found the bike on the side of the house, near the chimny (butch&sundance) ingenius. Thank you for the perfect backdrop to a once in a lifetime event.
