The best waterviews and comforts kept our guests coming back to our Gulf Retreat 1 (VRBO Listing 43893). Eventually we found that so many people wanted to come back that we had to turn many of them away due to lack of availability. But no more: Announcing Gulf Retreat 2! The same floor plan, amenities and luxury appointments as our Gulf Retreat 1. Most importantly, the same fabulous VIEWS, and just a few feet away, in the same condo association.

Why the Owner Chose Mariners Pointe
We love Indian Shores because it is the quietest, most relaxed part of Sand Key, the barrier island that runs along the Gulf shore from St. Pete Beach to Clearwater. It is the narrowest part of the Sand Key, only 150-200 yards across where we are located. That means you can enjoy both the Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico only a few steps apart.
Indian Shores is the last part of the coastline in Pinellas County that preserves a small-town feel. Gulf Blvd. is still just a two-lane road and the speed limit is 35 m.p.h. There's is only one traffic light in Indian Shores. There isn't as much asphalt as you see to the south or north of us, a lot fewer high-rise buildings and none of the tourist traps. While you will find all the restaurants and conveniences you need near-by Indian Shores is still primarily a residential, family-oriented community.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Our view is of the Intracoastal Waterway, the body of water that separates Sand Key from the mainland. We love it because of all the boat traffic - it's fun to watch. The dolphins are always a joy to see, too. They are most active early in the morning or at sunset. Manatee are a little harder to spot, but are always around, too.
When the tide is low there is a sandbar that emerges from the water just off our balcony. The seabirds all come to feed there and it's wonderful entertainment.
And the Intracoastal Waterway is beautiful to behold at night, when the lights from the boats and other properties reflect off the surface. You must see it to appreciate it!
And of course the beach is just across the street. It takes just a couple of minutes to get there walking. It's never crowded and always relaxing. We have beach toys, inflatables, beach chairs, an umbrella, a cooler... everything you need except a good book and suntan lotion! And we even have a handy cart to put everything in and wheel it across the street!
Owner's Map of Mariners Pointe
Isabel is from Spain and we met while I lived and worked there for ten years. During our years there we enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and especially staying in the quaint Bed and Breakfasts that are so typical there. We made notes of all of the things we liked and disliked about everywhere we stayed and planned to one day have somewhere unique and cozy of our own to offer to vacationers.
In 2000 work brought us to St. Petersburg, Florida. In 2004 we purchased a condo in Indian Shores, just a few miles from our home. We decorated it with nothing but the best (Isabel is an Interior Decorator and has her own business). As guests began to know us and word began to get around we soon had a steady flow of visitors and a full calendar. Just repeat visitors were nearly keeping the unit booked. In 2008 we decided to buy a second unit, with the exact same floor plan and the same extraordinary views, just a few steps away. We call them our Gulf Retreat 1 and Gulf Retreat 2.

Stunning Condo

Another fabulous stay at this stunning Condo. Once again Darryl & Isabel thought of everything and were a pleasure to deal with. The Condo location is truely beautiful with the view over the intercoastal. A very short walk and you have miles of beach to explore. The Condo has everything that you could possibly need for either a short stay or an extended visit. The quality of the furnishings and the standard of decor and cleanliness are second to none. It truely is a privelidge to be allowed to stay in this wonderful home and we very much look forward to many more visits.
Owner response:Thank you for your wonderful review, Tony! I'm sorry we didn't get to see you when you were here this time. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you as well for taking such great care of our Gulf Retreat and for leaving it so neat and clean. Isabel and I hope you can come back to visit again soon!

We stayed from August 29 until Sept 5, 2011. While looking at several places to stay, Darryl was the first to respond in a quick professional manner. The condo was everything promised, plus more. The view was beautiful, the condo clean and spacious, and it was a quick walk to the beach. Even though there are not a lot of stores close by, it is nice because the area was not busy when we visited. Most nights, we had the beach to ourselves. The grocery store and other shopping is not far away. Going into Tampa took about 45 minutes with the traffic. Great location, very clean and Darryl and Isabel were great to work with.

Best Condo Rental Experience Ever

From the clean, beautiful, nicely-decorated condo to the kind and helpful owners, everything about this vacation was top-notch. My family was ready to stop renting condos forever because of too many bad experiences---old, mismatched furniture, dirty floors and counters, condos that advertise a "water view" which doesn't really exist---but this trip has changed our attitude. This condo feels like a cross between an upscale hotel and a friend's plush vacation home. Everything was more than perfect. Thank you so much Darryl and Isabel.

Perfect property - we would not consider staying anyway else. Ideally situated for exploring North (Clearwater) and South (John's Pass and beyond). We parked up our car on day 1 and used the Suncoast Trolley all week. (7 day tickets are available at the Food Mart near the entrance of the condos for $20) We loved watching the Ospreys hunting on a morning from our balcony/bedroom. We also loved stocking up the waggon with refreshments and going to the beach at teatime and staying for the magnificent sunset (the ocean really does feels like a warm bath) We recommend 'The Waterfront Pub' if you want a relaxing drink/meal (about 10 mins walking distance North from Condo) Darryl - What have you done! This was supposed to be our last trip to Florida - now we want to come back time and time again!

This is our third year coming to Indian Shores for Spring Break. We finally found the place we want to come back to! What a beautiful and relaxing condo you have. The view from the balcony is beautiful and relaxing. We found some new places to eat at, Salt Rock Grill and Dockside Dave's (out-of-the-world grouper sandwich). Thanks for making your condo a home away from home. Now, back to reality! As soon as I find out when Spring Break is next year, I will be emailing you. Thanks, Darryl & Isabel!

Darryl & Isabel Thank you for such a beautiful vacation! It truely is a home away from home. We LOVE the night lights from the intercoastal and cannot wait to come back. My family of approximately 30+ was in the area and they are all so envious. Thank you again and we'll talk soon about next year!

Darryl & Isabel What a pleasant surprise to have the place decorated for Christmas - especially for the children. Also, this condo is so well equipped and all the extras - computer, phone - are greatly appreciated. We are just moving to 704 but will miss the details and amenities here. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Darryl & Isabel: Thank you for letting us stay in your BEAUTIFUL condo. It was spacious and open - the views are great. Plenty of room for all 5 of us. We have nto been to this area before and our time here was fun but not long enough! Fort DeSoto Park (North Beach) was great - abundant shells, sea urchins, sand dollars and "close up" dolphin sightings. The kids said "What a WONDERFUL day that was". The gift basket was much appreciated as well as your hospitality! We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found your place and hope to come back!
