Stonington is a snug harbor village with a one of a kind community filled with timeless charm. Once one crosses the bridge to enter the islands, it feels as though you've crossed over to a different world... one of beautiful shorelines and scenery, festivals on the Pier, culture, folk art and some of the warmest, most genuine people you'll ever meet.
Looking out to the ocean from Bay View house is more like being on a boat itself and its hard to believe your on solid ground. It feels more like your hovering over the waters edge and you swear you can feel the pull of the tide.
The house is perched only feet from it's own dock, ramp and float. A mooring with shore power and fresh water is available for a small fee for those sailing in and is one of the few empty moorings to be found in the harbor.

The main living quarters are on the second floor to take full advantage of the panoramic views of the bay. High tin ceilings and the abundance of windows draw in the ocean and infuse the walls with wavy sunlight reflected off the sea. There is an endless amount of wildlife to be watched out these windows too. Anything from harbor seals to porpoises to bald eagles and crows fighting each other over sea scraps.
Lots of Lobsterman activity to watch nearby and lot's of lobster to purchase right next door!

Bay View House is a boaters paradise, bird watchers heaven and an art lovers destiny all wrapped up in this quiet, unpretentious, remote corner of Maine.

King-size bed, full size bed, sleeper sofa's, Satellite TV, DVD, VCR, stereo, VHS (to listen to those lobsterman talk), washer and dryer, fax machine, free phone service within the US, great cell reception, all new appliances, fully equipped kitchen and a grill on the top deck. What more could you ask for??

"Seals playing in the water, right off your deck, watching the schooners pass, sitting on the deck in the evening and seeing plane after plane flying over on their way to Europe, observing all the activity in the harbor-Just a few of the Down East pleasures of staying in your new place. You have the best view of any place in Stonington!-NO-in the whole of Maine!! The folks next door were very helpful on selling us lobster for our dinner-another advantage of being in your place. We also recommend the exhibits at the Deer Isle Historical society (Seller House), hiking in the Nature preserve called the Tennis Reserve, and hiking in the Settlement Quarry. Thanks again for all your hospitality and we know we'll be back-it's a treasure!

"Your deck must have the finest view in all of Maine! I have spent countless hours supervising all the fisherman's comings and goings and watching boats traverse the thorofare. Your waterfront home was the perfect place to stay!

"From what I can tell, one of the best spots in town! Jogging to Ames Pond and back into town has definitely built up my legs, covered the last Hill on my last full day. Lily painted a picture (oils) from the deck looking across the bay. We were going to do allot more exploring but when we saw the view, we decided to 'just relax'! The lobster connection (next door) was fantastic! On Monday, I'll be back in the classroom getting ready for my new students. When I get a little stressed, I'll remember relaxing on the deck, watching the ships go by. Hope to come back!"

"We're so glad we found your lovely home and the village of Stongington. We hiked 10 miles on Isle Au Haut, the beehive and a 12 mile bike ride o Acadia, a beautiful exploration of Barred Island Preserve, and visited several galleries and shops and topped it off with a memorable anniversary dinner. Thanks for all your hospitality."

"Our seventh summer here in Stonington was our best yet. Your place is more than comfy & the setting is perfect. It's fun and interesting being next to the seafood company because it is possible to feel the pulse of the town to a degree. Thank you for the boat ride and the clams. We hope to see you next year."

"Your place here is wonderful and the girls and I all had a fabulous time. We were charmed by the town of Stonington and the surrounding areas of the very beautiful state. Our vacation here was one of the best in our memory, and it is with regret that the week is over and we are departing!"
