Welcome.
Our spacious, beachfront home, “Calypso”, provides for the utmost in relaxation and privacy, along with fabulous Views of the Beach. Exuma is now easier than ever to reach with non-stop flights to Exuma ("GGT") from Toronto, Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and Nassau.

This 2300 sq. ft. single-story house has 5 bedrooms with 3 full baths and Central Air Conditioning throughout. Take in unsurpassed views of the beach and ocean from the second story observatory or watch the waves from the back of the main house, which is lined with Sliding Glass Doors. Enjoy the virtually private beach, or the view from within the home’s two separate wings, joined by a common outdoor courtyard. This house is perfect for romantic getaways, groups of couples, or families with children.

Layout of Calypso
The main section of the house is located on the south side of the courtyard. It houses the master bedroom, 2 other bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, dining room and the indoor dry bar. The rear of the house faces the blue ocean waters and is framed by three 8’ wide sliding glass doors for panoramic views.

We have another stand-alone unit on the north side of the courtyard which houses the 4th and 5th bedrooms, another full bathroom, and a Washer/Dryer.

Location
Our home is conveniently located on the East side of the island fronting the Atlantic, just 2.5 miles from the Sandals Emerald Bay (opening January 2010), with its Greg Norman-designed oceanside golf course and the Grand Isle Resort. The complex includes a Spa, Luxury Yacht Marina and an extensive Tennis Complex.

The home is also conveniently located near the Marina where you can view the many yachts that consider Exuma their hub. George Town is not only the island’s commercial center, but also the host of the Family Island Regatta, a major yachting event held every April.

The house is directly on the beach, just steps from the water. Simply walk outside for a perfect day of sunbathing or explore the nearby reefs. The waters in Exuma are not only beautiful, but ideal for fishing. Book a boating excursion and you just might be able to catch some fresh conch or lobster for dinner. Other activities available on the island include sailing, windsurfing, parasailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, biking and hiking.

Or forget the activities and just hang on the hammock and watch the boats sail by; enjoy the 16 foot composite deck at the edge of a 20 foot high bluff over the ocean; or savor the outdoor shower after a long day at the beach.

Getting Around
Exuma can be reached by a quick flight from Miami/Fort Lauderdale or a 40 minute flight from Nassau. The main airlines serving this route are Air Canada, Continental, American, Delta, Sky Bahamas and BahamasAir. Once you’re on the island, a rental car is recommended.

VRBO Bear stayed here - 08/29/2008 Let me begin by telling you a little bit about the Island of Exuma, Bahamas. Exuma is located right at the Tropic of Cancer, 23° 26' 22? north of the Equator, between Florida and Turks and Caicos. Exuma is largely undeveloped, known for its beautiful white sand beaches and Caribbean Blue waters. It is the perfect destination if you truly want to get away from it all!

The Calypso house is located a just quick 5 minute drive from the Georgetown Airport (GGT) and conveniently located toward the center of the island, which makes it easy to do excursions to either end of the island.

We were impressed by Calypso House. It is very large with a total of 5 bedrooms comprised of 2 separate dwellings that are connected by a courtyard. The main house has 2 big bedrooms and a roomy children's room with bunk beds. The other house has two bedrooms. The home is nicely equipped with all the comforts of home, including a well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture inside and outside, and they even supply beach towels (many beach homes require renters to bring their own.)

But the most amazing part of this home is the beach! When we walked into the living area and saw the three sets of glass doors we were overtaken by the most amazing view we've ever seen?Paradise! The water is that gorgeous Caribbean blue color. The photos do not do this beach justice!

The hosts, Kim and Leo are very personable and professional. It's apparent that they have anticipated all of your needs while you are renting their home. They also have a hard working, dedicated staff to take care of anything that happens while you are there. They'll also serve as your tour guide and they'll even prepare you a wonderful meal! I would not hesitate to rent this home again.

He is a life-long Exuma resident and a great resource for all things regarding Exuma.
