This was a great house. Close to everything yet as quiet and relaxing as can be. The Civil War history of the island must be explored while there as well as the Sea Laboratory. Both are awesome. As far as the house, the kid friendly concept is legit. The convertible air hockey/pool table led to multiple battles of air hockey and billiards. The kitchen is complete and well equipped. We did not use the gas grill that is provided, but it was clean and usable had we chosen to do so. Overall, the owners have provided a place to relax while entertaining the kids in an environment that rivals all other Gulf Coast destinations. The house gets 9.5 out of 10. The island is a 6.5-7 out of 10. The reason is the lack of palatable restaurants and watering holes that take advantage of the amazing beauty of the locale. The locals need to get busy creating an identity for this place. It lacks momentum. One other thing, I am sad to say my life is too busy to relax let alone bird watch. The trees within the designated bird sanctuaries are awesome and I saw many types of birds I had never seen before. There is also an airport on the island. As a professional pilot who flies in the corporate/private world, I would suggest making that strip jet worthy. People who own jets have money to invest. Check the area out......The house is awesome, the locale beautiful. I mentioned my beefs. Judge for your self.

This was a great place for my husband and I (and our 19 year old cat) to spend a week. The pictures really do not do it justice but exactly as described. Lots of space, comfy bed in main bedroom, bathrooms well set up, kitchen well stocked with pans, decent knives, spices/herbs etc. Cooked lots of good shrimp and fish from Skinner's which is very close. House within easy walking distance to 2 great birding places (Shell Mounds and Goat Trees) and also store (Ship and Shore, but bring your own produce, not great selection) and town shops. Also can walk to the Lighthouse bakery. Back deck great for relaxing and watching the water. Great house, great island. Hope to be back.

We spent 2 months here this year. The house is very nice, exactly as shown. Clean and everything needed for our stay. Enjoyed bicycling on the newly paved bicycle paths, the bird sanctuary, Fort Gaines and the beach. We took the car ferry to Fort Morgan, and visited USS Alabama in Mobile which is just across the bay. The Common Loon has the best lunch and Skinners has the best fresh seafood. Dauphin Island in the winter is quiet and relaxing. It is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation.

We visited mid December. Despite us being 2 couples and 2 small children, there was plenty of room. And although many of the restaurants were closed and the weather was rainy, the pool table and air hockey table kept us entertained. The selection of movies was also good for those cooler evenings. The home was well stocked, clean and kept up well, our host maintained good communication and was very helpful in providing suggestions to make our stay even better. Skinners stayed open while we were there and was the place for fresh sea food. We returned relaxed and hope that one we might return again.

We were very excited to see the Bay Watch house exactly as described and super clean. My grandkids loved the water so close to the house, evening visits were a must. The air hockey & pool tables were a huge hit, we had some pretty heated matches between PaPa and grandson. Quiet and relaxing are the first two words that come to mind when I think of our stay at Bay Watch. The other adults in our party were especially fond of the back deck in the morning, that's where they took the little one so others could get a few more minutes of sleep. Comfortable beds, great A/C and pleasing decor were also elements of this house worth mentioning. Thanks again and we will be in touch for another visit in our new favorite place, Dauphin Island.
Owner response:Thank You Julie Im so glad you had a good time!!! Hope you tried the royal reds!!!

Wonderful place for quiet week, even with two teenage boys along. They loved the pool table. We rented a few bikes for the week so everyone could go where they wanted, when they wanted. Went on a great deep sea fishing trip, saw a few dolphins up close, and we're still eating some of the red snapper we froze to take home. Ferry ride to Fort Morgan was great and the architecture beatiful; then drive to Gulf Shores helped us appreciate what a special place Dauphin Island is. No back to back mega surf/beah stores and no high rises. All in all a great, relaxing week with just the right amount of discovery.

We loved Bay Watch. It was one of the most relaxing places we've been. The house was great. It had everything you needed, just like at home.We loved the island and the surrounding attractions. Be sure to visit the bakery. It was out of this world. We visited Bellingrath and that was awesome! You can't go wrong with this rental.

Great house and location! Nicely decorated and maintained. Kids and adults loved the air hockey/pool table. The large back porch with plenty of seating and view of bay was great! We enjoyed strolling to the very convenient bird watching locations. Hope to return for a longer stay in the future.

Maureen, Thanks so much for sharing your home with our family. Our stay was all that we were hoping for and more. The boys loved the pool table, fishing out the back and looking for the crabs. We only got to go to the beach a few times which was beautiful and tons of fun. We took the tour of Fort Gains never new my boys liked history so much. We also toured the USS Alabama in Mobile that is something everyone should see great for the whole family. I most enjoyed sitting on the porch looking out at the bay and just relaxing. Even though the oil spill got to Dauphin Island I am glad we never changed our plans. You were so helpful and understanding. We hope to come back and we will tell our friends and family about your home and what a wonderful place Dauphin Island is. Thanks again!! The Warren's

Maureen and Kurt, Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your beautiful Dauphin Island House! We couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary! The house is so warm and welcoming, decorated beautifully and clean as a whistle! The view from the deck is perfect, and the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful! The weather was terrific, except for Saturday, but with the pool /air hockey table, great collection of movies, and comfortable house, we had a wonderful time anyway in spite of the rain! On the Sunny days, we toured the Island, mostly on foot or bike, and enjoyed all of the wonderful birding areas, and the unspoiled beaches! It is the perfect getaway for anyone wanting to avoid the crowded, commercialized beach scene! We have a new-found appreciation for bird watching now!! Dauphin Island is wonderful! So many friendly folks, great seafood and a wonderful little bakery that serves up great breakfast items and diet bashing treats!! The cream cheese danish are wonderful!!! All in all our trip was one of the best ever and your place was perfect! I recommend it to anyone, couples, families or someone looking for a wonderful , restful retreat! Thank you so much for sharing it with us! We had a great time! We hope to return to Dauphin Island soon! Larry and Ellen

Thanks Maureen for sharing your awesome beach house. Spent the last week of February at Dauphin Island and had a wonderful time even with the COOL/COLD weather. Plan to return when weather is warmer so we can enjoy the beaufiful white sand beaches. Everyone should plan to do the Fort Gains tour. The seafood is outstanding and the people are all so friendly. You/yours have done a wonderful job on the remodeling of the house. Love the decor. Until next time. The Hollons.

This house is AMAZING! What a relaxing vacation. We felt right at home in this house. It had all the essentials that we needed for cooking, etc. The back deck was our favorite! We spent a lot of time there just relaxing and watching the boats go by. Our boys ages 3 years and 15 months loved the beach and the Estuarium that is nearby. We will definitely be back! If you are going to Dauphin Island I would highly reccomend this house for your stay. Oh yeah, and Maureen you did an outstanding job with the decor in the house!

The first was the beautiful view and the shade , which many houses on the west end cannot offer. And the second of course was the pooltable/air hockey. What a great table ,which provided many hours of enjoymentfor our family. We have enjoyed your home so much. Overall it was perfect ,peaceful, and private! I loved it!!! My wife and I spent four days on the Island. Bay Watch was a very comfortable retreat from the Chicago cold with all the comforts of home. The new grill on the porch was put to good use with some terrific steak and seafood from The Common Loon and Skinners.Bicycling around the island is a joy, but be sure to bring bug spray for the noseeums if you visit in March! We will be back.

Our experience at Baywatch was wonderful! Our family enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere that your beach house provided. The game table was a huge hit for our kids 16 & 20 but we all got in on the fun. We enjoyed treats from the bakery and the fresh crab and shrimp from Skinners were delicious. We loved this part of the Island with trees and birds. We would recommend this get away to our friends and family! Thanks Maureen for opening your home!

We spent Thanksgiving at Baywatch and we couldn't have been happier with the home. It was close to town, but far enough away to enjoy the boat traffic from the great deck. The home was exactly as advertised on the website-beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the pool table and the satellite DVR. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or to recommend it to my friends. We had a great time! Thanks, Maureen, for sharing your home with us.

We had the GREATEST time staying in the fantastic beach house. The month of July at Dauphin Island could not have been more perfect. The kids enjoyed crabbing in the backyard, playing at the beach, and swimming at the most unusual pool club. My daughter found $40 dollars in the pool over the month. The marine life at the beach was fantastic and boat ride on the "DUKE" was an experience. Everyone should enjoy the pleasures of Dauphin Island and Baywatch. Thanks Maureen for lending us your beautiful home!

What a beautiful home! The pictures are right on too! This home is so very comfortable, we were sad to only have the four days of vacation. We hope to return and stay longer. My daughter, son-in-law, son and soon to be daughter-in-law had a nice time on the beach. My son-in-law fished every night until dark. The four of them even chartered a deep sea fishing trip which left a full day of ME time to watch a movie and catch up on my reading. Every night was a challenge of pool or air hockey! The five of us had a great time and we thank you again for sharing your lovely home.

I highly recommend Bay Watch. We had a thorougly relaxing and fun vacation. My husband and son enjoyed fishing and crabbing in the bay right in front of the house. My husband set crab traps and caught several blue crabs, which we ate for supper! My son even put on his water shoes and walked out in the bay and scooped up crabs with a net! My baby daughter and I enjoyed watching them from the balcony, as well as watching all the ships go by. The house itself is very nicely furnished, and Maureen (the owner) was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. The realty folks who manage the house were also very helpful whenever we called them with a question. My 8-year-old son especially enjoyed the air hockey/pool table and has decided that he's going to save his allowance to buy one of his own! The house itself was very modern and well taken-care-of. And the master bed was very comfortable! (very important for a lady with back problems)!! You will thoroughly enjoy your vacation here.

Just got back from an extremely nice stay at Bay Watch on Dauphin Island and wanted to echo the previous comments about the house. Maureen has outfitted her "get away" with very nice furnishings and every possible convenience you could ask for! The place is immaculate and is within walking distance of many of our desired recreation destinations. As birders, we loved the fact that the house was only one block to two of the three most visited birding hotspots on the island. The views of the bay were excellent and sitting on the porch in the evening enjoying the last of the day was especially enjoyable. We found that doing business with the owner and with the management agency she works with was seamless. How nice to find that everything was as advertised. Thank you and look forward to the next visit. Bob and Kay
