Our cottage is a very lovely newly remodeled bunaglow it is in a quiet serene neighborhood only one mile from the Sonoma Plaza and near the Sonoma Creek. The minute you step into the cottage you will be surprised as it is quaint and very charming. It is cozy and has all Pottery Barn furnishings. The dining room, kitchen and living room are all open with vaulted ceilings with all halogen special lighting. All the lights in the house are on dimmers for that special feel and ambience. A large wood burning fireplace in the living room makes it very cozy on cool autumn evenings and you will find firewood for your use for fireplace and firepit. The antique oak dining table seats six in the full dining room. All PRO WOLF stainless appliances and all clad stainless cookware, Wustoff Cutlery, beautiful bright red dishes, serveware and crystal stemware await your use in the kitchen. Also a nice under counter TV. The kitchen is also supplied with all staples and spices for your use. We also supply Starbucks Italian roast coffee and Ghiradelli chocolates on arrival with a nice gourmet cheese and fruit plate. The water system is all Culligan purified it is the best.
The bedrooms are two master suites each with queen size deluxe pillowtop mattresses and all down bedding including pillows and plush high count luxury linens. Each bedroom has a full bath with walk in slate showers and soaking tubs ..We supply Nexus shampoo products, Neutrogena shower Gels, Soames and Gilchrist oatmeal facial soaps and big fluffy white bathsheets, bathtowels and washclothes and there is a linen closet with abundance of more if needed.
The bedrooms are very private from each other and each one has a special feature one being in the back part of the house with sliders that go out to the patio and a lovely fountain and the other with a sitting room with nice down sofa and desk for computer etc. We have fax machine and WIFI ..Each bedroom has flat screen HD LED TV's and all cable channels are available.
We also feature Central A/C throughout the house.
Walls are all soft sage colors with bright art and the flooring is Italian tile and oak . There are nice oriental rugs covering all floors in bright reds and sages they are very pretty. We have a library for your use and a CD and DVD library also. There is a large flat screen HD TV in living room with surround sound that also has speakers on the patio with an IPOD Docking system with a great speaker system and remotes.
Our patio and garden area are a standout and have been called by some a 'little slice of heaven' and a real 'gem'. I have walkways meanderng thru the large well manicured yard with flowers galore year-round. A large fig tree, a Meyer lemon tree and in summer a plum tree ..There is always an herb garden in summer months for your use. The patio itself is the same Italian tile that the house has in it and it has a nice big firepit surrounded by large Adirondack chairs, A patio set with four comfy chairs and an umbrella for outdoor dining and a Vermont Castings gas grill with burners for cooking also..There is also a flagstone patio with another sitting area in the sunshine it is wonderful on those days you want to just enjoy the sun the flowers and the quiet except for the birds and the squirrels. The yard is filled with 400 yr old Valley Oak trees and offers a Wonderful 'ZEN' like setting..These words are how most of my guests have described the yard and most say they don't want to leave even for dinner they want to spend time at the cottage. I have flowers in the yard year-round and gardening is my hobby so it is always easy for me to make it beautiful as I love it!! We have three different seating areas all lined with landscape lights meandering thru the yard either in brick or flagstone. The patio and garden area is surrounded by little white mini lights in the evening for you while sipping that Sonoma wine by the firepit!!
This cottage is for people used to only the best and all First Class ..I have hosted two PGA Golf PRO's while they played the Charles Scwhab Cup Champions tournament. They both wrote nice letters and loved the cottage and they are both very famous..That is how nice it is..
Evening times you can hear the sound of crickets from the nearby Sonoma Creek and either that or the waterfall will lull you to sleep...I am a designer/developer in Lake Tahoe and put my experience to work in making this a perfect wine country getaway and my husband and I use this as our own vacation home so it is in immaculate condition for each guest.
This is not a tiny cottage the sq footage is close to 1600 feet and it is an open floor plan with two private master suites very private from the other. The ceilings are vaulted and high in the living area making it very spacious..The kitchen dining and living area are all open with a great room feel ..
READ the reviews and you will see how very special this cottage is!! And the cute little shed that looks like a cottage in the backyard is a potting shed!! It is not a seperate bedroom or cottage for rentals..

This was my first experience using VRBO and I feel that we hit the jackpot when we found Helen’s Hideaway. It is ideal for two couples and it is conveniently located to all the wonderful wineries as well as the center of Sonoma town. The cottage was so tastefully decorated and had all the comforts of home. And Helen is such a thoughtful hostess who has such a flare for making her guests feel right at home. The cottage was well equipped with everything you need from the finest linens, soaps, spa tub in one of the masters, comfy beds, fiesta dishes, and tasteful decorations. The pictures in her gallery are spot on and it truly looks like the depictions. Not only were all the amenities wonderful but Helen had fresh flowers in each room adding such a delightful touch and smell. The backyard gardens provided for an amazing ambience of lovely flowers and lemon tree, a fire pit, comfy Adirondack chairs, a lovely table and chair set for dining and a large grill. What a wonderful setting to return to after a long day of sight-seeing and wine tasting. Not only did we have perfect weather but the accommodations were absolutely perfect. I honestly can’t say enough positive things about Helen’s adorable cottage! Don’t hesitate to make a reservation with Helen – you won’t regret it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We settled right in after arriving to such a charming home. Everything was in bloom from the heavenly vine on the front door trellis to the clematis, wisteria, poppies and so much more in the backyard. It was so amazing to pick lemons each and every time you needed one for your cooking, water, etc. A girl could get used to having citrus in her backyard. As for the home, I just cannot say enough about the comfort and amenities. Everything was perfect. Thanks for such a beautiful place to stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

From the moment you pull up in front of this home, you know that you have not arranged to stay at a rental property, but that you have been lucky enough to share someone's very beautiful home. From the outside to the inside, the pictures on this site show exactly what this home looks like, but they can't capture the warmth and attention to every detail that Helen has worked to achieve. Just like everyone else who has stayed here and reviewed this property, we found the home to be all it is advertised to be and more. Every amenity is provided -- from the luxurious towels and toiletries, the comfortable beds, a truly divine kitchen, to the outdoor speakers and music collection so you can sit on the patio at night - around the fire pit if it is cool - and enjoy company of friends in a quiet, private backyard. The close proximity to downtown Sonoma and its many shopping options is an extra bonus. We have rented properties through VRBO in many places; this is BY FAR the most wonderful place we have stayed. There is a reason that every review of this property gives it five stars -- it just can't be beat. Should we return to Sonoma, this is where we would want to stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My friend and I stayed in Helen's cottage during a recent wine country getaway. Not only is the cottage beautifully decorated it has everything you need for a comfortable stay! The back yard is a great place to relax after a day of touring, with flowers everywhere, gas firepit and gas bbq. My friend and I also enjoyed relaxing in the living room during a rainy evening by the gas fireplace watching the big screen TV. If preparing meals in the kitchen, all you need to provide is food, because every utensil you'll need is available. Helen is a great hostess who answered our questions, making sure we had what we needed and even had fresh flowers for our arrival. I highly recommend staying in Helen's cottage!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Helen's cottage is a perfect location for 2 couples, each has their own master suite. The layout is terrific with a well appointed kitchen, dining and living room areas. The best part is the yard with the lemon tree, fire pit and comfy chairs to relax in after a hard day wine tasting! It's a very welcoming respite for a quick trip or longer. Helen is also very open to suggestions so if you find anything not as expected, it is remedied quickly. We've been twice and it's our "go to" spot in Sonoma....I highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed with another couple at Helen's cottage and we could not have been more comfortable. There was nothing lacking for our brief stay except more time to stay longer! We all agreed we could move right in and stay forever. The cottage is beautifully decorated but with a very comfortable ambiance. The bedrooms and baths are on opposite ends of the house so there is plenty of privacy. The beds, linens, towels, etc. are first class and the kitchen is well-appointed. The back yard is fabulous! There are trees, shrubs and beautifully manicured flower beds. There is even a lemon tree! (we picked a couple) There is a huge outdoor grill, fire pit and table and chairs for your use. The bubbling water fountain just added to the peacefulness of the garden yard. It is located in a quiet neighborhood close to town. Helen is a delightful person to work with and I enjoyed our phone and email conversations. We hope to return again and enjoy this charming property.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We've stayed at Helen's Winecountry hideaway twice now and we look forward to staying at this quiet cottage as much as visiting the wineries. Well appointed, great gourmet kitchen, awesome backyard patio with firepit and always fresh flowers in every room. It's an excellent place to stay for two couples or a small family. We even visited with the neighbors and found the neighborhood as welcoming as the home. Great home base to explore the heart of Sonoma Valley.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.

Had a very enjoyable bonding week end with the daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our kids went out to Glen Ellen Inn for a gourmet dinner and wine tasting on Saturday. We played in the beautiful backyard with the great grandson's, ran races down the red brick path and smelled the flowers. We all had a great time around the firepit, drinking wine and making s'mores. The sleeping accomandations are wonderful, better than home. Cooking in the kitchen was a real pleasure, enough equipment to prepare a gourmet meal or BBQ on the patio. Thank you for a memorial trip with the 4 generations. Love making memories.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We frequently rent through VRBO, and this cottage has got to be at, or near, the TOP of our 'favorites' list! Helen is amazing, and has set up this cottage to be an absolute jewel! Sparkling clean, top notch amenities, very close to attractions and equipped with anything you might possibly need - what more could one want? We spent every evening around the fire pit (thank you for the carafe of port for our sipping pleasure), and enjoyed the gourmet kitchen for several meals. Loved the fresh flowers, the wine and cheese upon arrival, and for the two ladies in our group - the fluffy towels were a HIT! The beds were comfortable, and there was amazing attention to detail. We all agreed that Helen could teach many, many inn keepers how to run rental accommodations! We cannot wait to return and would love to see the back yard in full bloom. There is no where else in the Napa/Sonoma area we would consider staying at if the cottage is available!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We arrived on Valentine's day with a chilled bottle of champagne! The place was exsquisite. We had a fabulous time enjoying the wine from the various wineries on the back patio around the fire pit. I definitely recommend this cute cottage to anyone looking for a fabulous stay while they are in beautiful Sonoma. This cottage is perfect for 2 couples. We can't wait to visit again soon!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We have been in this business most all of our lives and own and manage other properties ..We know what we expect when we travel and we try to do the same with the first class amenities we provide and the immaculate condition we have the cottage in for each guest..
Why the Owner Chose Sonoma:
We loved vacationing in the wine country and were tired of not having our own patio and comfy beds and didn't like being in sterile hotel rooms we wanted our own little cottage to have longer visits and be able to barbecue with a private and serene setting. We loved the restaurants and wineries and the Farmers Market the whole area is just heaven. We live in Lake Tahoe so needed an escape from the cold snowy winters and need a place that we will be able to golf year round. Now we love the spring, summer and fall in the winecountry the vineyards are so pretty year-round.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We enjoy the quiet neigbhorhood the accessablilty of being so close to the Sonoma Market and the Whole Foods stores each within a half mile from the cottage. We also like being near the quiet Sonoma Creek area where we listen to the sounds of crickets in the evenings and we are near the walking trail that meanders thru the back of the town plaza and goes thru a few vineyards and the park..It is a wonderful walk.. We are dog lovers and love taking our dog with us on our walks..
We love our little cottage and you will find that it shows and it has a wamr and happy feeling the min you walk thru the door!! We have some guests who have returned to visit our cottage now as many as five times..
