Aloha and welcome to Old Hawaii, the island of Molokai, and our condominium at Wavecrest, located on the southeast end of the island, about 13 miles from old town Kaunakakai. Wavecrest is lush, beautiful, and private. Our unit is located on ground level in C building and affords the visitor views of a tropical paradise, the ocean, and the island of Maui. The condominium is completely outfitted for your vacation pleasure, and the grounds contain a clubhouse with barbecues, a pool, and tennis courts.
Perhaps the vacationer should know what Molokai is not. It is not the island of glitz and glamour. Rather, it is the Hawaii of yesterday where locals and vacationers alike greet one another in the old town of Kaunakakai. It is not over-built. Island visitors can still hear authentic island music.
One of the best places for the latter is in the bar area (Hula Shores) of the Hotel Molokai where the kapunas "jam" every Friday evening. On Sunday afternoon, the local kapunas entertain on the premises of the island's coffee plantation. While the restaurants on the island are few in number, delicious cuisine can be had throughout the island... at the Cookhouse and the Hotel Molokai, among others.
However, the best part of Molokai is that it is the Hawaii of yesterday: remote beaches, a beautiful barrier reef (the only one in the northern hemisphere) that surrounds the south shore, opportunities for golfing, kayaking and snorkeling, and sites of history galore, including Father Damien’s leper colony and the playground of Hawaiian kings.
