My husband and I stayed at the flat for a wonderful week in April this year and we loved it. Firstly it was all that it promised to be - a rarity in itself in this day and age. It was great having someone meet us and show us around when we arrived wide eyed and starstruck. It was lovely before that to have support from Jules and Thierry when I sent what felt like an endless stream of questions about how to manage. The size was perfect for two people who needed a base for their first trip to Paris - even us with our plethora of luggage! We enjoyed breakfast from one of the many local boulangeries and on one occasion dinner at the table. Most of the time we went out for meals and often in walking distance. We loved the Cafe Suffren which was five minutes away and which became our "local". We loved walking to the Tour and to Rue Cler for the consummate Paris street market experience. All in all, we just loved it and we'd strongly recommend it to anyone looking for the chance to live like a local

Owner response: Hi Dawn; You were just as much of a pleasure to work with. We hope to welcome you at the Yellow Flat Paris again in the future on your next trip. All the best. Jules

If there were a 4.5 rating, I would have chosen that. As other reviewers have said the flat is comfortable, in a quiet building, has lots of amenities, and is in a very convenient location. The concierge Thierry and the owners are helpful and responsive. I recommend arranging to have Patrick provide airport transportation--very much worth the extra expense. I stayed there with a friend celebrating her birthday. When we entered the flat we were a bit surprised at the size--smaller than we imagined but we knew we would be out a lot so ultimately no problem. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. it was cold and snowy during our stay and the flat remained cozy and warm. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is the apartment could have been cleaner. We expressed this to the owner who said he would look into it. I would not recommend this apartment for two couples. The master bathroom has a shower and sink. The toilet (and another sink) is off of the living room. If one had to use the toilet in the middle of the night, it might be a bit awkward. Otherwise the flat is great for the reasons stated above. Also, the rent is quite reasonable for such a nice building and neighborhood in Paris. We felt like we were residents and not tourists.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Owner response: I believe this post is from another renter with an incorrect date but her points are well taken. I recall our conversation and I immediately brought the cleanliness issue to the attention of our manager and via him to our cleaning person. The issues that the renter pointed out were shown to her and we expect them not to occur again. Cleanliness is as important to us as it is to our guests. As to size this, well this is a typical size for a 1 bedroom flat in Paris, and yes, they are small compared to US standards. The Yellow Flat is 38 square meters (over 400 square feet) with a 12 meter balcony. It is a good size for a couple and for families traveling with children or groups of 3 or 4 but by no means is it spacious for 4. Along with a comfortable sleeper couch we have placed an armoire in the main room so there is enough storage for 3 or 4 persons and there is a hall closet as well. If a group of 4 wants space then they should consider looking at a 2 bedroom flat. Yes, the bathroom or the toilet are not in the same room, again, this is typical for France and is stated is the posting. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Yellow Flat and we hope to welcome you to Paris again. Kind regards, Jules

I'm sorry to have waited so long to share our extremely positive experience in this wonderfully appointed flat! My sister and mom and I were comfortable and happy in every way. The decor is appealing and the amenities are ample. The location cannot be beat! To have our choice of three metro lines enabled us to cover lots of ground quickly. Do not miss the Grenelle market every Wed. and Sun. (or is it Sat?) Jules and Florence, the owners, are responsive and helpful and eager to share their love of Paris. Maps and guidebooks are available, as well as a "user-guide" to the flat's amenities. The bed is comfortable and the shower is one of the best I've ever enjoyed in Europe! I hope you are able to stay at this special place one day soon. I will definitely go back.

We stayed in the yellow flat for 6 nights and loved it! I am the earlier riser and chose to sleep on the sofa bed--very comfortable and worked out very well for us. The kitchen was small and well equipped. We loved the location and walked everywhere. We will definitely stay there again. Perfect apartment, location, and the blog was tremendously helpful. Be sure to go to nearby Rue Lormel to shop for groceries.

We just returned on October 15, 2012 from about 10 days there. We have been to Paris about 8-10 times and have stayed in hotels because we were a little skittish about the private rental market. The Yellow Flat changed all of that. It was a great experience in a very nice flat, located in an excellent location and priced very fairly. More than fairly priced Comfortable in every way and the kitchen has been freshly remodeled and is superb. Metro stop serving 3 lines about 2 minutes from the front door. Excellent street market on Wednesday and Sunday 2 short blocks away. A patisserie at the corner and a Simply market just around the corner, also a small boucherie. Rue Lourmel is 5 minutes away on foot and is easily the equivalent of rue Cler which also is within walking distance, but why? Restaurants within walking distance were good to great. And in Paris you are always 20 minutes by Metro from dozens and dozens of good restaurants. Try Philipe Excoffier. It was our favorite this trip and a reasonable walk from the flat. Oh, and we used the car service with Patrick. I know it sounds high end but believe me it was worth it and it wasn't that expensive. There he was as we cleared customs at CDG with a little sign and his car just outside the door. Really nice person, speaks English pretty well and we were whisked right to the flat where Jules had his representative waiting for us. As one of the airlines like to say "Go, there is nothing stopping you." We will be back!

Owner response: I could not agree more with your comments about about Rue Lourmel, it is truly a hidden gem for food shopping, and representative of the quality shops in the area. Thanks so much for the kind words, they make our efforts worthwhile. We hope to see you both again at the Yellow Flat Paris. Jules and Florence.

The Yellow Flat was absolutely perfect for our week in Paris. The flat is in a nice, secure building in a wonderful location. The grocery store is around the block as are a bread and pastry shop and a butcher shop. Out the door in the other direction is a nice neighborhood of shops and restaurants. The Metro is also two blocks this way. We took the Metro everywhere. It was so nice to get off the Metro almost at our door. There is even a Starbucks next to the Metro entrance. I was in Heaven! The Yellow Flat itself was perfectly maintained. The kitchen was first class with everything we needed to cook and eat. We ate dinner twice in the Flat. It has a lovely wall of glass doors and being on the 6th floor allowed for a nice view. Although the Flat is small upon arriving, it feels totally comfortable due to its layout and furnishings. The washer and dryer were very nice. The owner is very accommodating and helpful. His website is informative. His manager of the Flat was wonderful. He arranged for our transportation to the Flat from the airport and back upon our leaving. He even helped me when I left all my diamond rings in the Flat. He mailed them to me within a day. He was always there if we needed him If you want to feel like a Parisan then you cannot do better than the Yellow Flat!!

My mom and I rented the Yellow Flat for our first trip to Paris. It was her 70th birthday and something she'd always wanted to do. I couldn't have been more pleased with the Yellow Flat. I've rented several other homes on VRBO in the US and have always been a little let down when we get to the property, but that was not the case with this apartment. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. It's very well maintained, well equipped and comfortable. It's super close to a market, metro, and restaurants. We loved the quiet, safe neighborhood after being in the chaos of the tourist destinations all day. Another thing that makes this place stand out is the support system. The owner, manager Therry and their driver Patrick, were amazing. They provided so many helpful recommendations and really made us feel comfortable even though we were thousands of miles away from home. I would 100 percent recommend this place to my friends and family and I will return!!!

If you have ever wanted to go to Paris and be more like a Parisian than an American, then the Yellow Flat is the perfect place for you. The Eiffel Tower can be seen each day (if you wish) and the illumination each night (if you wish). The Patisserie on the corner provides fresh croissants, baguettes, and a variety of pastries only the French can do. Cafes, brasseries, small restaurants frequented more by natives than tourists, fresh markets, fresh flowers, emporter (take-away), pizza, Metro, bus stops, parks, all within an easy walk (and if we in our 60's can do it, so can you!). Just a laid back pace in this area bordering the 7th and 15th make for a truly home away from home. Lots of daylight, a balcony for a petite dejeuner or a before dinner drink; a lovely shower to wash off the day's journey to a museum, shops, tour. All this and so much more. To stay at the Yellow Flat is an experience not to be missed and one to be savoured for a long time.

Owner response: Susan: It was a pleasure to host you and your cousin (for her birthday) at our yellow flat. Your constructive feedback throughout the process has been of great value to us. We hope to see you again.

Thank you Jules! My daughter and I had a great time in Paris. The Yellow Flat was perfect-close to neighborhood cafes, grocery stores, and ATMs. We could catch the metro, bus, or Batobus water taxi within minutes. Access to the airport was easy. It was great not to have to lug our bags very far from the metro. I would stay there again in a flash.

My wife and I stayed here for a week over New Year and our 1-year anniversary. The location was great; the noise of the city seems to disappear as you walk off the main road nearby, but still you will be close to everything. We walked almost everywhere, and came 'home' to a perfectly sized, eminently comfortable flat. The owner and building manager were great to work with, and the owner seemed genuinely interested in making the stay the best possible.

My wife and I just spent 9 days in Paris staying at the Yellow Flat. Everything about our stay at the apartment was excellent. All the appliances were in excellent working condition, shower pressure was as good as we've ever experienced in Europe, quiet street, comfortable bed, building security; I could keep on going. The apartment is a short 5 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower, but located in a non-tourist web of streets. The various cafes, individual stores, and availability, will satisfy any palate. We were met at the apartment by the owner's landlord/concierge who explained everything to us, and offered to help us in any way. This was a very satisfying experience!

Our week (late June, 2011) at the "Yellow Flat" was perfect. The apartment's location makes it easy to get to at the start and a perfect base for exploring Paris by foot (our primary choice) or metro. Being in a residential neighborhood was a big plus, and for daily shopping we never had to go more than a two-minutes walk. The apartment had everything we needed (a washer and dryer is so helpful!), was very clean, and nicely laid out. While there, the temperature hit an all-time high for June (98F/37C), but the air conditioner saved the day and our good spirits. We were 3 (husband/wife and 16 year-old son), and never felt crowded at all. The windows let in lots of light and allowed for plenty of fresh air. At night we found the building to be perfectly quiet and the neighborhood almost as quiet. We all slept fine and would consider the beds to be of high quality. In summary, the apartment is one in which my family and I would be able to live comfortably on a permanent basis given the current set of furnishing and equipment. We loved it and plan to return.

We stayed at the Yellow Flat for 8 nights, and found it terrific. It is convenient to 3 Metro lines, nearby grocery store and plenty of bistros and restaurants. It is also very quiet, with plenty of room for two people. The owner and building manager are wonderful to work with, and we recommend this apartment highly. If it's your first trip to Paris, consider taking advantage of the limo service offered through the Yellow Flat; Patrick the driver is excellent, and it makes the transition from CDG to Paris smooth and effortless. Thank you, Jules and Thierry, for your warm hospitality.

Hello Jules and Flo, We wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had at your home in Paris. We made it our home for our 10 visit to Paris to celebrate our 25th anniversary and ring in 2011. The location was perfect and central to everything we wanted to see and do. Thierry and Patrick were both lovely people - thank you for suggesting we use Patrick's service, it made getting to and from the airport a breeze. Your home was bright and cheerful and you were extremely helpful in helping us plan a perfect 25th anniversary celebration. Your restaurant recommendations were wonderful. Thank you so much for helping with the reservations. We especially enjoyed our visit to the Epicurean shop attached to Le Pere Claude Restaurant prior to having dinner there. Meeting Chef Claude added to the enjoyment of our evening meal. Having lunch at Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower was a great treat. It was worth the money not to have to stand in a 3 hour line just to go up the elevator. We were fortunate to get a window seat! The experience was breathtaking. We were thrilled to have been able to walk to both dinner locations as well as many more fun and lively places in your neighborhood. Actually, we walked all over Paris from your apartment! We often took a taxi to the farthest point, then leisurely walked back taking in the sights (and food and wine and shopping) along the way. A couple of evenings we did the opposite...just kept walking until we were exhausted and cold - popped into a nearby brasserie for Vin Chaud (hot wine is a must on cold days). Everyone makes it different and no one makes it wrong, we have a new cold weather favorite! Winter is a wonderful time to see Paris. The department store displays and lights are delightful. We loved your home (the water closet was a bit tight -we are tall people- but that's Europe). Thank you again for renting to us and helping to make our time in Paris wonderful. We would highly recommend this property to friends and family. We look forward to returning! Regards,

Owner response: One of the best things about owning a vacation property is getting to share it with kind guests such as Yvonne and Dennis. As this was a new years and anniversary trip, we wanted the experience to be special and we are so glad it was. Renting an apartment in Paris is a great way to spend your vacation and they go it right. I will adopt their idea of taking a cab to a distant part of town and walking back, can't wait to do so. We just returned from a week in Paris. The yellow flat was everything that you promised and more. It was wonderful to feel like part of the neighborhood...buying food and wine at Rue Cler...having lunch at Crepe Suzette. It was our first trip to Europe together and the apartment made it perfect. The location is fantastic...so convenient to the metro with 3 lines.

Owner response: Hi Folks. When Florence (little did I know she had it planned all the time) picked the location of our apartment easy metro access was one of her priorities. Having lived in Paris she understood how important that was and we are glad it helped you get around on your first stay. Thanks so much for the kind words and we hope to see you again. I had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at the lovely yellow flat in paris with my husband and a friend and could not have asked for a better accomodation during my stay! The apartment was perfect for the 3 of us and could easily have accomodated an extra friend. All the amenities were appreciated - from the kitchen and appliances, to the washer and dryer - just perfect! The person who met us on arrival (Thierry) and gave us information was an absolute gem and the owner Jules was great to work with and so helpful! The location is perfect - a great bakery and grocery store right down the street and tons of restaurants and shops and the eiffel tower within short walking distance. Our stay in the Yellow Flat in September, 2009, was nothing less than wonderful. Thanks to Thierry for finding us as we walked from the Metro station, and showing us to the lovely apartment. We felt like part of the real Paris, even more so while having dinner one evening at Cafe Le Piquet and meeting a lovely couple from the neighborhood, who provided valuable tips on museums, markets, and more. The apartment was marvelous, newly remodeled, with shops and groceries nearby, and only 15 minutes to the Eiffel Tower. We recommend Fat Tire Tours, whose office is only a five minute walk from the apartment, for walking and bicycle tours of Paris and Versailles. Thank you Jules.

Owner response: We have used Fat Tire on several trips and had a great time touring Paris by bike, especially on Sundays. Thanks for your kind words Jim. Jules and Flo.

The apartment is perfect. We were met - on time - by our local contact/mgr. He was very helpful, patiently explainng all the features of the flat. (There is a very thorough guide in the apartment to refresh your memory later!) Everything you could need is in the apartment. We were a party of four. Our daughter and son-in-law slept in the living room, on a comfortable sofa/bed conversion. The building and street - very quiet. We would never stay elsewhere in Paris. It is a great homebase!

We arrived back home on Thursday evening, June 4 from our trip! So now let us say thanks and praise the apartment. It was so nice to feel part of a neighborhood, and less like tourists, in the yellow flat. Although we didn't spend much time there, it was a great place to come home to each evening and collapse! The convenience of the grocery store, the boulangerie so close by, as well as the Metro, the Eiffel Tower and restaurants. Excellent spot. The apartment was quiet, had everything we could possibly need and definitely felt like our home away from home. I hope we will be able to return to the wonderful yellow flat again.

The apartment is exactly as it looks on the website. The location is ideal as it is close to the Champ De Mars and Eiffel Tower and just a short walk away there are 2 open air markets twice a week with everything to put a great meal together in the apartment. The kitchen is well equipped also. Thierry is a great help getting people settled in or if there is any kind of problem he is available. We would surely stay at the Yellow Flat again.

I recently spent five days at the Yellow Flat (April 2009), and truly enjoyed the opportunity to live domestically in the midst of a vibrant neighborhood. Making advance arrangements with the owner was most efficient, and we welcomed the services of Thierry, the site manager, who graciously answered our questions and facilitated our return travel to the airport. Furnished attractively, the apartment is adjacent to several metro stops and within easy walking distance to many of Paris’s top attractions (including the remarkable Musée de Quai Branley). The excellent bakery, supermarket and specialty foodshop around the corner are definite assets, and the well-equipped kitchen makes dining at home a pleasure. Internet access, a useful travel bookshelf, and top- quality appliances throughout the flat, ensured a pleasurable stay. I very much look forward to my next visit to the Yellow Flat. Thanks to Jules & Florence for sharing the apartment! My husband and I had a wonderful New Year's in Paris. The location was fantastic, close to the Metro and great cafes. We walked, and walked and walked! The apartment was bright and cheerful, clean and the perfect amount of space. Thierry was very helpful when we arrived and encouraged us to contact him if we needed anything while in the city. We look forward to staying in the Yellow Apartment next time we're in Paris.

We are just home last night from our wonderful week in Paris. Your apartment is wonderful and was perfect for us. We have stayed in Paris a number of times and have rented another apartment nearby which the owner has recently sold. We can't say enough how much we enjoyed your place. Audrey met us at the appointed time and gave us the tour. We did not meet Theirry but did talk to him when we had a couple of questions and he was so helpful!! We loved the instruction book with the pictures, the decor, the washer/dryer, the location, and the personal touches. The kitchen was well supplied and easy to work in. The nice bathroom and shower were also a plus. And, we couldn't believe how quiet the neighborhood was!! We will definitely be back and we also will recommend your place to friends and family Our experience was outstanding. Thank you so much.

Our party of three--myself, my sister-in-law, and 18-year old niece--stayed in the apartment in July, 2008, and it was a great alternative to a hotel. Though compact, the apartment was very comfortable for a party of three, and we loved the neighborhood with lots of wonderful restautants within walking distance, as well as groceries and markets. It's tucked away in a residential area off a main street, so it is quiet with a feeling of privacy, yet very convenient to everything. Jules was great to work with, and the apartment management was top notch. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

"Don't let the rather non-descript building alarm you. The yellow flat is a sweet retreat in a busy, bustling and beautiful city. And it's near the Eiffel Tower which I loved. (It's also very close to a Metro stop.) The apartment has everything you need. Its miniature kitchen is very well equipped and I especially liked the stylish dinner ware. My husband was reading the guest entries and found that a friend had stayed there last year. What a coincidence! But it truly is a great place to settle in for a week or more. Oh, and the bi-weekly market is so handy. It took me about three minutes to select two bracelets there! But it offers much more--fresh fish, fruits, vegetables, etc. I'm just a little bit sorry that we didn't cook. And, most important, is the lovely patisserie right around the corner. My husband and I enjoyed their wonderful fresh (filled ) croissants at the flat every morning! Add a good cup or two of home-brewed coffee, and you're ready to take Paris by storm!"

Hi Jules; We just want to let you know how thrilled we were with your "yellow flat" in Paris this past August. Everything was perfect; from Thierry meeting us on our arrival, to the location, to the apartment itself. We couldn't have asked for more. It was a lovely way to end our family vacation before heading home to pack up our oldest daughter who left for university shortly after our return. We want to thank you so much for providing us the opportunity to feel right at home -- we did! We are already looking forward to our next Paris vacation, and hope that 9 Rue Alasseur will be our home once again. Regards, Jacqui & Brian Wills North Vancouver, B.C., Canada

Jules and Flo, Thank you for sharing your yellow apartment with us; it was great! The updated kitchen was beautiful, clean, and so efficient that my daughter and I prepared meals together. Everything we needed was right at hand. The nearby markets made shopping for fresh foods each evening easy. The bakery around the corner had great breads and pastries. We always felt safe, and the sound of children laughing in the evenings and someone practicing beginning clarinet once let us know it was a family neighborhood. It was so nice to have a quiet, comfortable place to return to each night with enough room for the four of us to read or to journal. Here is what we loved: the ceiling fan (did not need the air conditioner), the very comfortable beds, the washer/dryer, the storage space, the nearby metro, walking to the Eiffel Tower late at night, the secure entrance, the cool breeze through the open windows, the quiet neighborhood, your quick replies to our questions as well as the helpful info you sent us, and being met by Thierry! When we come back, we'll check with you first! Valerie

This apartment is not only very lovely and bright, but it is also in an excellent location. There's a wonderful little bakery on the corner and a great market about a block away. Also, it is only a couple of blocks to the metro & the shopping on Rue du Commerce was fun. We thought it was an enjoyable walk to the Eiffel Tower. The owners and their apartment manager are excellent to work with. It is a great place to enjoy a real Parisian experience.

Thank you for sharing your terrific apartment for our trip to Paris. After 10 nights, we felt this was our home away from home. The location just cannot be beat...and we enjoyed the surrounding neighborhoods as well as the easy metro access to all of Paris. We found many great restaurants, and enjoyed our view of the Parisian sky at sunset every day. The street is quiet and we slept well. Your apartment really MADE the trip work. Thanks again.

Hi Jules, Just a quick note to thank you. We had a great time in Paris. The apartment was centrally located and we can walk to the Eiffel Tower! The place had just what we needed, including a balcony that was utilized almost every morning/evening when we are in. The restaurant list was very useful. We love Mansouri----and it's only two metro stops from the apartment. I just want to mention "Fat Tire" Bike Tour in Versailles. Their headquarter in Paris is a 5 minutes walk from the apartment and they do a great bike tour. Everyone there speaks English and the tour is done in English. The tour takes you riding in the streets of Paris from their headquarter to the RER station. You then board your train to Versailles' open market to get stables for your picnic before riding the grounds. We had a great time and thought your guests might like it, too. It was nice to work with you. Everything was so easy and I love the fact that you replied very quickly to any questions or concerns that we had. Thiery was great and very personable. Thank you, Rosine

Dear Jules and Florence; Thank you for sharing your cozy flat with us. We enjoyed all of the modern upgraded amenities. We visit Paris annually and your flat by far was teh most comfortable and thoughfully laid out. The neighbohood feels safe. We walked to Eiffel Tower at 10 PM to see it lit up in the evening sky. Having 2 kids this was something we couldn't do before. We appreciated the "yellow flat" instruction book too. I know it must have taken a lot time to create, but it is very thoughtful and reflects well upon you. We promise to return.

We have enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It is very central and easy to access all of Paris. Having the Eiffel Tower just a few blocks away was very exciting. We appreciated the detailed instructions on how to use the appliances. We enjoyed living in a local community shopping eating and drinking in local places. Really saw the difference when we went into the tourist areas. Thank you we certainly will stay here again and tell others about it. Susan L family of 4

Jules, Cal and I just loved being in Paris for our two-week stay and we particularly loved your apartment -- it was just perfect for us. Thanks for making it available for visitors as it just enriches the whole experience. Thierry was so wonderful and so helpful in making arrangements for us to go to the airport. Thanks again for renting to us.

Val & I want to thank you for your hospitality and for the bottle of champagne. The champagne was a very pleasant surprise and we greatly appreciated it. Your apartment is wonderful. We could not have been more pleased with the accomodations. The location, the amenities, and the furnishings were all spectacular. I can't begin to tell you how much we appreciated, and needed, the air conditioner- it was a true blessing. Our stay in Paris was memorable and the trip of a lifetime. Our wonderful experience was due, in large part, to the apartment. The apartment enhanced our comfort and greatly contributed to our flexibility. We would be glad to be a reference for you to future tenants

Thank you so much to you and your wife for have given us the opportunity to stay in your beautiful flat. To say we had an amazing time is an understatement. After walking the many miles, climbing the hundreds of steps and seeing the great churches and museums we are wondering when can we return to see some more.
