Located in the heart of Vermont, nestled at the end of a dirt road is our Mountain View House. An awesome, newly renovated, ski house in winter and a delightful retreat in Spring, Summer or Fall. Experience the wonders and colors of Vermont in any season. Brand new full kitchen with dining area, brand new en suite master bath (2009), additional full bath and 1/2 bath (new), 4 bedrooms, oversized living room with lovely wood burning fireplace & stunning views from oversized wrap around deck to Mt Ascutney.
Spectacular views to Ascutney Mountain as you sit in the living room or eat in the kitchen eating area leading to large glass doors that open onto the wrap around deck. Similar views from the oversized windows in several of the bedrooms offer all day mountain sceenery. Located just four minutes from the ski slopes and hiking trails of Ascutney. In addition you are right inside horse country just 15 minutes from 'the prettiest small town in America', Woodstock filled with wonderful shops, art galleries, museums and gourmet restaurants. The Green Mountain Horse Association is just ten minutes away with over 65 equestrian competitive and educational equine activities each year.
Immediate amenities include a private, natural swim hole at the end of the driveway - perfect for summer swimming complete with pontoon and small sandy beach. This doubles as a large ice rink in the winter time. Right out front you have a small four-hole golf course to keep amused putting the evening away, doubling for a sledding hill in winter time. For more challenging golf The Woodstock Country Club offers a premier golfing experience with 18 holes of scenic, par 70 championship golf along with an award winning spa and fitness center. Go fishing on Knapp pond, Canoe or Kayak on Silver Lake, learn to fly fish at The Vermont School of Fly Fishing, visit, tour and learn from several local Maple Syrup farms and shop at local farmers markets for the freshest, healthiest organic produce.

The house is just 20 minutes from the slopes of Okeemo and 25 mins from Killington & Pico with their always outstanding ski conditions. Within walking distance from the cottage is the AlpacArt Studio Alpaca farm where you can meet these wonderful creatures. A shirt drive to the famous Montshire Children's Museum.

Year Purchased: 2003
Larry & I purchased the house several years ago when our children joined the Ascutney Mt. Downhill Race Teams and we knew we were committing to the area for the forseable future. We live most of the year just north of Boston, Mass on the water but love to ski all winter long. We have pretty much renovated the entire inside of the house over the last few years, regraded the land and opened up the views and feel that now it is a lovely place to be. It works very well with our family and despite having five children - teens and younger the house absorbs all our noise and activity very well! We spend most of the winter / weekends and vacation time at the house and have enjoyed several spectacular fall and lazy summer weekends there - we hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do.
