Relaxing 'Away-from-it-All' Home on-the-Water with Small Natural Pool
- Minimum stay:5 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Hale Pali (Cliff House) is a spectacular (non-smoking) OCEANFRONT home overlooking the blue Pacific. We heartily agree with our guests who have enthusiastically stated: 'there is nothing that compares to actually being on the water' - what better way to enjoy the sound of the waves, and the smell of the sea air.
The home is beautifully and tastefully decorated and features teak furniture.
You will love cooking in the fully equipped, Rick Hartman designed, gourmet kitchen.
You can keep cool by taking a dip in our 3,000 gallon 'natural' (unheated) lava-pool or just 'chill' while lounging on our small private white sand beach, or take a nap in the hammock.
If you need to stay connected you can do so via FREE WIFI.
A perfect day begins by sitting on the sea wall, sipping Kona Coffee, and looking out to sea. You will also be amazed by the spectacular “blow-hole” that adds to the OCEANFRONT splendor of our seaside home.
We think that the serenity you will find here makes the 45 minute drive south from Kona Village very worthwhile.
About the Owners: Deborah and I have lived here on the Big Island for more than 30 years and reside on an 8 1/2 acre farm just 15 minutes up the mountainside from the Beach House. We really enjoy meeting guests from all corners of the globe.

We enjoyed our stay at Hale Pali. The home was the right size for 3 couples. We enjoyed the ocean view and listening to the whales. The home is about an hour away from Kona proper. Carl and Deb were very gracious hosts. The home was clean and had all the amenities that we needed to make ourselves at home. After a day full of activities, it was nice to come to a home where everyone could find their piece of heaven to unwind.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My family had such a wonderful stay at Hale Pali. We loved everything about the home -- just an amazing place to unwind. Very comfortable, excellent attention to detail by the homeowners. Even a workaholic like me could not help but relax. My husband, my 11-yr-old daughter and I all enjoyed the pool and the views are just beyond description. The sun melts into the Pacific, truly amazing! We are already dreaming about our return. We took daytrips to Volcano and South Point, and also had a blast at the local snorkeling spot and Honomalino Bay. Highly recommend for families who want to escape from the hustle and bustle. Sincere thanks to Carl and Deborah!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

my family of 5 stayed at Hale Pali for a week and had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. the home is airy, spacious, well-appointed, and comfortable. the kitchen is absolutely stunning and a joy to work in! but of course, we spent most of our time outside on the huge lanai and down by the pool, laying in the sun and watching the waves. during our stay there happened to be a mandatory tsunami evacuation late on a friday night, and Carl promptly drove down to the house, picked up the entire family, and put us up in their home for the night! Carl and Deb, thanks so much for your hospitality and for sharing your home(s) with us! we all loved our stay and can't recommend Hale Pali enough!aRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family stayed at Hale Pali the second week of October 2011, and must say that the house was absolutely the icing on the cake. We had an awesome visit to The Big Island and Hale Pali made our stay comfortable, clean, and peaceful. We can't say enough how pleased we were with our decision to stay at Hale Pali. There was nothing that we had need of while we stayed there. The kitchen was amply stocked with dishes and silverware, and the bathrooms were supplied with everything we needed. It was nice to have the small things like coffee filters, toilet paper, and shampoos supplied. Those are just little things, but in my opinion, it's the little things that matter. Carl and Deborah go above and beyond to meet every need you may have--even the little things. Even without air conditioning, Hale Pali stayed plenty cool and had us under the covers by early morning due to that sweet Pacific Breeze. We would highly recommend Hale Pali to anyone wanted to experience Hawaii off the beaten path. You're well within an short, pleasant drive to Kona or Hilo if you want to get into the bustle, but if you enjoy a little elbow room you should visit Hale Pali. If you like being able to walk outside and not see a bunch of wild people with wild kids, this is definitely the place for you. We were able to visit the majority of the island because of the central location of Hale Pali. We took day-trips and then made it back to Hale Pali for extremely nice, peaceful evenings that allowed us to relax completely. If you have kids, Hale Pali will more than satisfy their needs. There is plenty of exploring, games, and room to play, not to mention the lava pool and stream. My two daughters are 13 and 9 years old and I never heard either of them utter the words "I'm bored" during our stay. Carl and Deborah have a hidden gem on their hands. If you're planning a vacation to Hawaii and want to experience peace and serenity, coupled with fun and safety, then Hale Pali would be our recommendation. Once you've spent time there, you'll understand why I say that due to Hale Pali, our visit to Hawaii "couldn't have been better". We were so pleased with our stay July 3rd through 13th, 2011 at what we feel is our "best" home away from home. The night after we came back state side, I told my husband "I am homesick, for Hale Pali." He agreed. The home is so warm and inviting. There is so many areas in the home and outside to sit, I had a hard time deciding where is the best place to relax. Glad we where there for 10 days. I could never in my wildest dreams imagine lava cliffs would be so beautiful. Met Momma Lou, what a lovely woman. She made sure the Fed Ex driver that delivered our son's guitar arrived safely. And we enjoyed the neighbor blowing his conch shell at sunset. Thank you Carl and Deb for sharing your paradise. ;Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have just returned home from our second visit and are already planning our third. From the time we arrived we felt the stress starting to melt, if you really want to relax this is the place. On our recent visit we saw humpback whales almost everyday and could also hear them splashing around at night - what an amazing experience. The house is very comfortable and the kitchen truly has it all. I was able to sit out on the white sand and contact my business associates using the wifi. If you really want to relax and "get away from it all" in a quiet and friendly neighborhood - this is the place. Can't wait to get back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The minute we walked into HalePali we knew it was the perfect place for our family (3 generations) to spend a week together. Our kids immediately said: "Let's never leave this place!" We loved every minute--especially the beautiful kitchen and lanai where we enjoyed dinner watching the sun set every evening. Thanks Carl and Deborah.
