Welcome to THE GREEN HOUSE! The perfect house in Old Town Park City for your summer or winter family vacation! By Old Town Park City standards, THE GREEN HOUSE is huge, at 2400 square foot the home comes with a lot of quality features that make for a great vacation in Park City. This home sleeps up to 14 people in REAL BEDS, no pullouts, no futons, no trundle beds. The location can not be beat,

THE GREEN HOUSE is located at 339 Park Avenue adjacent to Main Street. It is literally a 30 second walk to Main Street and 3.5 minutes to the ski lift. For those of you who are not 100% familiar with Old Town, there are many houses that claim to be Old Town, but, in my opinion are not. Don't get stuck on the other side of Park Avenue where the bus and traffic noise will keep you awake all night long, or on the other side of Marsac Avenue where you have a 10-15 minute walk to Main Street and Skiing. If you are planning on having a family vacation, THE GREEN HOUSE is in the best location, quiet at night, and is easy for kids adults and seniors to get to and from.

THE GREEN HOUSE was fully renovated with new plumbing, heating, electrical, roof, everything! Each floor in the house is approximately 900 square feet, so there are no dinky rooms that most of us would consider a closet. This immaculately clean historic Old Town house is located on the quiet section of Park Avenue, on the same block as the Egyptian Theatre, Chimayo Restaurant and Java Cow. It is a 45 second walk to great restaurants & bars like 350 Main, Grappa, Purple Sage, Cafe Terigo, The Brewery, Oh Shucks!, No Name Saloon, Morning Ray, Bistro 412, Red Banjo Pizza, Chimayo and more! It is just a 3.5 minute downhill walk to the Town Lift. Park City Mountain Resort's Quittin Time ski run is just across the street behind this house, for good skiers who can ski straight into the backyard of the house at the end of the day.

THE GREEN HOUSE is painted green with a green metal roof, of course, and is professionally decorated, has beautiful art including photographs by Olympic skier Erik Schlopy, a private outdoor 6 person hot tub, hardwood floors, comfortable furniture like a big sectional sofa, club style leather chairs and tons of throw pillows, wireless high speed Internet, cable TV, 42" Visio Plasma TV, wifi, printer, down comforters, down pillows, bath & hot tub towels and bath robes.

The great room living area is the entire second floor of the house and has awesome views of Old Town Park City, Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyon and the Mountains. The entire second floor is the kitchen/great room and is perfect for hanging out while cooking big meals for big groups. Everything you need is here: toaster, coffee grinder, french press coffee pot, traditional drip coffee maker, crock pot, wok, tea kettles, pots,pans, blender, china, utensils, silverware, serving plates/bowls, food processor, blender, extra cooktop, glasses, stainless steel kitchen counters for easy cleanup, new kitchen appliances, large stainless steel Sub Zero fridge, top of the line stainless steel dishwasher, brand new dual fuel Jenn Air gas indoor grill/oven/deep fryer, huge chandelier-lit dining table with 10 chairs and bar stools at the counter for additional seating or chatting while someone cooks. There are also 2 8-foot folding tables and 24 folding chairs in the garage that you can setup in the great room for HUGE dinners. This house sets up perfectly for dinner parties and family gatherings, numerous 24 person Thanksgiving dinners have been enjoyed here!
The great thing about this house is that all of the sleeping quarters are on the first and third floors. Compared to other homes, this second floor gives everyone a place to relax and hang out without interrupting those who wish to sleep, take a nap, play video games or whatever else you want to do in private. The first and third floors are the sleeping floors, with a total of 5 bedroom areas; here is a description of each bedroom:

Bedroom Area 1: we call it the Peruvian, if you have ever been to Alta and slept in the bunk room, or some guests call it the Orphanage; has 1 full size bunk bed and 1 twin size bunk bed. Cable TV with X Box.

Bedroom 2: 1 queen bed, private bath with a steam shower, sink and toilet, TV with DVD/VCR.

Bedroom 3: 1 queen bed, private bath with standard shower/tub, sink and toilet.

Bedroom 4: This is the master suite which is the entire 3rd floor with great views of the mountains and Old Town Park City. It has a King bed with a good quality mattress that is really comfortable, a huge walk in closet that can also be another bedroom, a private bath with antique cast iron clawfoot tub with a European style telephone faucet, sink, toilet and bidet, TV, cable and DVD/VCR.

Bedroom Area 5: This is the walk in closet for the master; it has a real door on it so it is private if you want it to be and it measures 12 feet by 12 feet so there is plenty of room; Best of all there is a window with awesome Old Town Park City views, 2 twin beds and it shares the master bathroom.

Deck: This may be the best deck in Old Town. It is 23ft x 23 ft with a big canopied dining table, natural gas grill and dramatic open Old Town Views. (table and grill only during the summer)

Garage: This may be the biggest garage in Old Town. It is a 6 car garage, however, only 4 spaces are available during winter because we need 2 spaces for our convertible and patio furniture storage.

Hot Tub: The 6 person Sundance hot tub is in the back yard so it is very private.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes

Park City is a great, family oriented small town that is commutable to Salt Lake in only 30 minutes. There is no other major ski town in America that can boast that. Plus, I am a HUGE Utah Utes and Jazz fan and I can ski or mountain bike in the morning and go to a game in the evening.

The Unique Benefits at this House

This was my full time home, I lived there, so everything that I like is there, the beds are comfy, the towels are nice, the art is my private collection. It just does not feel like a rental, it feels like home, because it is home. I think the best feature of the house is the great room is totally separate from the sleeping area. Also, I love the master and looking at the view of Old Town while laying in bed looking over my toes. When my Mom visits, she can make it up to the house from Main Street with no problem, other streets are very difficult for people in not so great of shape to get to.

Great House

Hi - Very delayed review, but I rented The Green House last Thanksgiving for my family including a small baby, and this house was amazing. It was the perfect size for 8 people and a baby. The layout was great for entertaining, perfect for our big family meals, followed by nesting in the comfy living room. The upside down floor plan made for fantastic views (in fact we saw an elk or moose from one of the windows on a nearby mountain), and there were plenty of bathrooms for a big family. The kitchen was top of the line and it was stocked with everything we needed to cook a huge Thanksgiving dinner. We could not have asked for a better location - right off Main Street and super easy for everybody to pop out and get coffee, and stroll around within walking distance. The keypads were easy for everybody to figure out and made sense if you are with a big group of people so you don't have to worry about distributing and sharing sets of keys. I have rented many houses in many places such as Key West and Martha's Vineyard, and in my opinion, beautiful houses are a dime a dozen. What made this house especially great, was the owner was extremely easy to deal with, professional, and very accommodating. He was extremely quick to respond, very detail-oriented regarding info about the house in the weeks leading up to our arrival, and in fact, he and his girlfriend even bought a crib to keep in the house prior to our arrival knowing that we had a toddler with us. He was quick to return the refundable security deposit afterwards. Overall our stay was SEAMLESS and wonderful and I highly recommend this house! Out of 5 stars, I give it 6! -Sing Inman

Great Summer & Winter

I have stayed at the Green House several times over the last 5 years during the summer and the winter. My family of 5 plus our nanny stayed very comfortably there. We have never had any problems at all and the owner Chris has been as gracious a host as can be. The house is clean, cozy and everthing works properly. I would recommend this house to any family looking for a great house in a great location. We will be back.

We had a wonderful stay in April 2011... actually saw over 30" new snow in 2 days! The owner was easily reached with any questions we had and was prompt in providing anything we needed. We enjoyed the grocery pre-order service as well as the antique house with proximity to the lifts and Main Street. Our group of 15 had a great experience and would rent the house again. my family and i stayed at this house last summer for the month of July. the house is very nicely decorated with all the necessary amenities for a long stay. we really enjoyed the location given its proximity to Main St. as well as near-by running, biking and hiking trails.

False Advertising

The Good: The location of this house is excellent. If you want to be within walking distance of Old Town Park City, this place is perfect. If you're there when the weather is a bit warmer, the front deck is also fantastic. The main living area has a nice open floor plan. The master bedroom bed is comfortable. The Bad: This is NOT a 5 bedroom house! This is a 3 bedroom house. The other two "bedrooms" are actually a hallway and a walk-in closet. Additionally, the doors to the downstairs bedrooms are glass, so there is very limited privacy in this house. And most of the windows do not have either curtains or blinds. The upstairs / master bath is outfitted only with a cramped claw-footed tub. You cannot shower in there and the window to the bathroom does not have a curtain and looks out onto the neighbor's deck. The property description mentions TVs in various rooms in the house. It should be noted that -- other than the living room TV -- they only get one channel. And the "entertainment center" in the master is so old and damaged it might fall over at any moment. The Ugly: The hot tub was not maintained at all while we were there. The downstairs beds are in TERRIBLE condition. The mattresses are so old and lumpy that it made each night's sleep, or lack thereof, complete misery. The house owner was the worst I have dealt with in my life. He was not responsive after we paid him and he was very slow to return our security deposit. I would not rent a property from him in the future.

Owner response:Let me address these issues raised by this renter. 1) Regarding it being a 5 bedroom house, this house has 5 rooms with beds in them, 2 of which are not your normal bedrooms, the bunk room as well as the large room adjacent to the master bedroom. The bunk room is not a hallway, its nearly 500 square feet. Please see the diagrams and the VRBO ad for the house, which clearly explains all of this. This house is 105 years old and what would normally be considered a normal bedroom in a suburban house really doesn't apply to houses of this age. 2) The clawfoot tub in the master bedroom is a standard 5 feet long tub, and is slightly cramped due to the arched ceilings in the master. You can take a seated shower or bath, not standing; all of this is clearly stated in the VRBO ad and the pictures for the VRBO ad. 3) There is a wood Venetian blind in the master bedroom that can be closed for privacy. 4) There are TV's in 3 bedrooms, and 1 in the living room. 2 of the 3 in the bedrooms are hooked up to basic cable and all are hooked up to DVD/VCRs. 5) The entertainment center in the master is a Chinese antique, and has been standing with no problem for years, I do not understand this renter's problem with it. 6) This renter rented the house for a month during the summer and I clearly explained to them that hot tub maintenance is not included for month long summer rentals. I showed them how to fill the water and use the chlorine and they said that was just fine. I also never was called by the renter to maintain it or I would have done it for them. 7) The mattresses on the first floor are all new in 2008, this renter's description is false of them being in terrible condition. 8) I returned the security deposit to this renter slowly because he did not want to pay the $300 fee to have Stanley Steemer clean the house due to his dog. This was explained to the renter when they rented the property. In the end I paid 50% of the Stanley Steemer bill trying to be a nice guy as this renter was very difficult to deal with. 9) During the renter's stay I was called once because they had a a large number of guests and got a parking ticket and wanted more parking permits, which I don't have; besides that I never heard from him; so I don't understand the "difficulty" of getting a hold of me. I am happy to give any potential renters dozens of previous guest's as referrals who will vouch for my excellent service and speak highly of the house.

What a Great Vacation!!

A small group of friends stayed at the Green House in February 2010 and the experience was fantastic. When it comes to my ski vacation homes, I always stay in 5 star houses. This house may have been the best yet. Everything in the Green House was top notch from the gourmet kitchen to the comfortable beds. The home was very clean and had everything that you would need to make for a great vacation. One of my favorite things about the house was using the steam shower after a long day of skiing to relax and rejuvenate (the hot tub is also great). The house had a great feel to it. It really felt like we were in an old town ski home. The location was great; Main Street was literally 30 seconds away. In the morning it was a short downhill walk to the Town Lift and you could ski to about a block away from the house (wasn’t enough snow to ski in). You do not need a car for anything; you can get on the free bus a few blocks away and take it to the grocery store, The Canyons or Deer Valley. I would recommend this house to just about anyone. The sleeping arrangements are perfect for large families or just a group of friends. The owner Chris was very helpful with anything that was needed. The next time I go to Park City, I will be staying at the Green House again.
