"Sunset Center" is an adjacent pair of family vacation houses. The "Sun House" is a new six bedroom, four bathroom vacation home featuring a private gated 15x30 foot heated swimming pool, six person hot tub, shared playscape, and wooded ravine lot. The house was completely renovated for the summer of 2005. The property is an easy four block walk down the sidewalk to South Beach (Lake Michigan), Kid's Corner, and downtown shopping and dining.
All comforts of home are provided, including new washer and dryer, linens, new appliances (including refrigerator with ice and water dispenser, range, dishwasher, and microwave), kitchen utensils, free long distance telephone, free wireless internet connection, computer, 7 TVs (3 with extended digital cable and 4 with basic cable), several DVD/VCR players, several CD players, just to name a few.
The house is perfect for families with children of all ages. The pool and hot tub are gated for your protection. Both the front and back yards are fenced. Family-friendly items included are books for all ages, toys, puzzles, movies for all ages, well-loved bikes, riding toys, high chair, full size crib with rocking chair, baby gate, excersaucer, strollers, sippee cups, baby monitor, booster seats, kid-sized picnic table, and pool toys.
Enjoy the flexibility and convenience of having six private bedrooms, conveniently located throughout the house! Four bedrooms are upstairs. One is a large master suite with private bathroom. Another full bathroom is in the upstairs hall. Two bedrooms are downstairs, each adjacent to separate full bathrooms. The house has an open design, with the living room, dining area and kitchen all open to each other in a "great" room.
The sunroom overlooks the backyard pool and wooded ravine yard. The sunroom can be accessed from either the hallway or through the kitchen. There is another bonus room downstairs that is referred to as the "futon room" or the "play" room since it can be closed off as a seventh bedroom with a futon or utilized as a another common living room with a TV/VCR/DVD with a video library and bookshelves loaded with books, games, and toys.
The pool will be open and heated from May until approximately October 1st. The hot tub is open and heated year-round. Enjoy the rare warm water in South Haven in June and September!

Why the Owner Chose South Haven
We vacationed in South Haven for the first time in August of 2004. At that time, we had a family of 4, with a newborn and 1 year old. The town was so beautiful and kid-friendly that we knew we wanted to come back over and over. Since we are originally from Illinois and now live in the middle of Michigan, the South Haven location is a perfect meeting place for our family gatherings. We fell in love so quickly with the town that we purchased a 3 bedroom house in South Haven in November of 2004. We labored all winter to completely renovate the house into a 6 bedroom vacation home specifically designed for family reunions. We finished just in time for the summer of 2005 summer renters and the rest is history, with 100+ family reunions enjoyed at our homes!
The Unique Benefits of this House
You will find our location to be among the most convenient in all of South Haven. We have the room for a large family, with 12 bedrooms total between our 2 six bedroom houses next door to each other. Enjoy family while still having some privacy! Our amenities on site on our property is 2nd to none. Heated swimming pools, hot tubs, playground, toys, games, WIFI, just to name a few. Kid's Corner park and South Beach are right down the South Haven street sidewalk. Downtown shopping and dining is right down the Center Street sidewalk. One of our favorite activities while in South Haven is heading down the sidewalk in our strollers, wagons, or on foot to the Kid's Corner park overlooking Lake Michigan, walk down the beach to grab an ice cream cone, head down the riverwalk from the pier and lighthouse into town, window shop at the downtown shops, and head back home down Center Street.

We loved staying at this home in Michigan. We like to consider it our home away from home in South Haven. There was not one thing we needed and didn't have available to us in this fully stocked and unbelievably clean home. All that is really needed are your clothes and toiletries. Don't forget your swimsuit as the heated pool is a wonderful convenience. The kids love playing in the fenced in backyard and on the new swingset, when not playing with the abundant amount of indoor and outdoor toys, or watching a DVD in the playroom. The location is ideal, walk to town for doughnuts and coffee, or walk to the playground or beach. We love the shopping in town at the unique stores, too. The Havlik family have compiled a book of information about the town including restaurants and local sights. We enjoyed blueberry picking with our kids and eating homemade ice cream from Sherman's . We also enjoyed visiting the town of Saugatuck for lunch and shopping, which is not too far from South Haven. If we had any questions or problems Mr. Havlik always responded quickly and was very helpful. We are looking forward to our stay at the house again this summer. We really think we found a true gem and plan on returning year after year!

This house was perfect. The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms gave for plenty of privacy for each family, but allowed for fun together in the gathering spaces both inside and outside. The owners take very good care of this place because not only was everything clean, it was in great condition. I felt right at home from the moment we walked through the door. The other little details made our stay great. The wi-fi in the house allowed the couple of work-aholics in our group to enjoy themselves but still feel connected to work. They had all the ammenities for children of all ages as well. We stayed in November, but will definitley come back in the summer as we were only a few blocks from South Haven's adorable down town. The owners are great to work with! I would recommend this house again and again!

Loved the house!!! Loved the hot tub outside!!! Our party of six couples and kids stayed at the Sun house for three nights for new years holidays. The house was very nice,easily fited us all, well taken care of, all you need is there, even toys-kids loved it. We even had a decorated Christmas tree, which made us feel like home. The house is very clean and has everything you need for a great stay. Like everybody in our party said - we would go back two million times again :)Looking forward to go back in summer this time and swim in that pool in the backyard!!! Thanks Jim and Amy.

We found the Sun House met all of our expectations and then some. The house is nicely provisioned and amply sized (we had 8 adults and 7 kids. The kids had a great time using the swimming pool and the playground). We found the area to be enjoyable -small shops - golf courses - beach - restuarants. I would recommend the accomodations and area to anyone for a summer vacation.

Jim and Amy. We had a great time during the week we spent at the Sun House. We found South Haven to be a really good central point to explore the area. The shopping was a hit with the girls and we guys played Hawkshead Golf Course several times and what a pleasure that was. We hope to come back in a few years to catch all those places we did not have time for and missed (spent to much time in the pool and hot tub). The Sun House provided the perfect setting to our vacation and we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Thank you.

Thank you for a wonderful vacation! For the second year in a row, we spent an extended weekend around New Year's Eve at the Sunset Center (Sun House this year, Ice House last year) and we had a great time! The house is huge, we had 9 adults and 4 kids (ranging from 4 to 8 years old) and everyone had a bed (not to mention a spare bedroom was available, too). The house is clean, the basement is a plus (for when you want to go play some darts, cards or a board game and have it be relatively quiet) and there is plenty of space. Everything was provisioned well and we had a grand time in the hot tub at night (too bad it was below freezing and thus we could not use the pool, but maybe when we come back in the warmer months we can try it). To sum it up, it was an excellent 4-night stay, I highly recommend the Sunset Center houses to everyone, both houses are new, clean, with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, well-stocked, spacious and full of amenities. We hope to come back soon. Thanks again, Jim and Amy!

What a great house and we were lucky enought to have great weather. We were there from 9/25 to 9/28. We used the outdoor heated pool everyday...we had 8 kids under the age of 4 and there were enough toys, books and games for them all. The house is about 4-5 blockes from the beach and the same distance to a great park where kids and adults could play for hours. I highly recommend this house for your family and friends...

Wonderful, wonderful experience. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home. The Sun House has everything for everyone of all ages. We were in South Havne for my daughter's wedding and at times the house was packed with people, but if you needed some quiet time, you could easily find it. If you stay here you have to look at the pictures of the renovations of this house. Beautiful home with all the amenities you may need. Highly recommended to visit South Haven and stay in the Sun House!! Thank you agin for the experience!!

What a fun week we had at the Sun House. Got to love a King bed! We had a total of 11 and if you wanted to be alone you could always find a quiet area to sneak off to. The pool was great. Our kids 4 in total ranging from 9-12 liked IT better than the lake. The only thing we needed to purchase was an ice cream scoop and why we needed more ice cream after our nightly walk to the DQ or one of the other great ice cream parlors is beyond me. Also got to love having as many bathrooms as this house offers. When the timie is right we Will be back! Thanks again Jim and Amy it is definitely a vaction we will talk about for years to come.

We rented the Sun House and Ice House for our bi-annual family vacation and it was great!! There was plenty of room for all 35 of us and both places were more than equipped for everyone of all ages - toys, games, pools etc. We loved it and look forward to coming back!
