Located 2nd house from oceanfront, near the beach end of a quiet, sandy lane, in the heart of St. Augustine Beach, The Sand Castle is one of the largest houses in the area and perfect for big families. Just 10 seconds from the beach if you're slow, we are THAT close to the water. (see map) With zero traffic, The Sand Castle is also one of the few rentals by the PEDESTRIAN beach (forbids vehicles unlike the driving beach) making it much safer for children.

Eight bedroom areas (nine if you count the futon in the game area), 4.5 baths, two kitchen areas, living area, game area, den, oceanview balcony and deck make The Sand Castle perfect for those large family reunions or friend get-togethers.
The Sand Castle also has the best ocean access in St. Augustine Beach. St. Augustine Beach is very wide with beautiful, wide drifts of soft, white sand. Because St. Augustine Beach is so wide, the town built a handful of wooden walkways that extend over the softest sand to make it easier to reach the ocean. The Sand Castle has dual access from both the front and back sides of the house. You can either walk across the sand from one side of the house or use the walkover to get to the water from the other side, giving the Sand Castle the absolute best ocean access.
Surfboard, kayak and bicycle rental 25 steps away! There are numerous restaurants within a block of the house including an outdoor one with a pool for the use of its customers. Have a drink and watch the kids swim! Only blocks from the pier, volleyball and tennis courts and 10 minutes from the Historic District. Take the beach shuttle to the Historic District, Alligator Farm or Haunted Lighthouse. This location can't be beat. This is old Florida at its best and you will love it!
First Floor: The unique design of The Sand Castle offers a ground floor with no steps/stairs (perfect for elderly or multi families) which consists of a studio bedroom (with sleeper sofa), an oversized king bedroom, bathroom and garage/game area. This part of the house has its own entrance and can be closed or opened into the rest of the house. The studio is equipped with small dining/kitchen area (stovetop, microwave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, etc.), a sleeper sofa, armoire, TV and DVD player. Designed with a privacy door, the studio can be used as a sitting room or separate bedroom. The oversized king bedroom also has a large sofa suitable for sleeping. There is a full bathroom (no tub which is difficult for elderly to step over). Access to the bathroom is via the king bedroom or garage/game area.
The garage/game area is carpeted, heated and air conditioned. It has a game table, TV and double bed futon with superior mattress. A privacy screen is provided for those guests that choose to sleep there. The second floor and remaining living area is accessed by a door from the garage/game area. The second floor can also be accessed from outside via a private entrance.
Second Floor: The second floor living area is comprised of an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The fully equipped kitchen includes, microwave, stove, blender, refrigerator, coffeemaker, etc. The dining table has additional leaves and seating if needed. There is a half bath located off the living area as well as a washer and dryer. The living area includes a TV, DVD player and large L-shaped sofa with sleeper. Through an adjoining door is the den bedroom (with sleeper sofa), armoire, TV and DVD player. This room has a privacy door and can be used as a sitting room or as another bedroom. (Due to furniture/remodeling delay, den cannot be used as bedroom until January 2010). A full bath with shower/tub adjoins the den. The king bedroom is accessed from the den and includes king bed, TV and ocean view. The ocean view balcony is also accessed from the den.
Third Floor: The third floor has four bedrooms, two full bathrooms and the ocean view deck. Bedroom one has a king bed and beautiful ocean view. Bedrooms two and three have queen beds (one with ocean view) and bedroom 4 has twin beds. Hear the ocean roar (and sometimes music) from the ocean view deck.
Parking/Other Amenities: Because The Sand Castle can also be accessed by the back alley, parking is available on both sides of the house and can accommodate up to 7 vehicles. There are also entrances on both sides of the building. We provide all linen including beach towels as well as beach chairs, beach umbrellas and beach toys for the children. There is also an outdoor shower and barbeque grill for the use of our guests.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
We bought The Sand Castle due to its location by the pedestrian beach which is much safer for children. Most of St, Augustine Beach is a driving beach except the few blocks which forbids vehicles. The beach is beautiful and wide, with white sand like powder. We also like its proximity to restaurants, surboard and bicycle rental which are within a block of the house.

The Sand Castle can accommodate guests of all ages, has two kitchen areas and lots of different spaces for people to gather. It can accommodate up to 19 guests while at the same time provides addional spaces for privacy. Located in the heart of St. Augustine Beach, it is only 10 minutes from the Historic District and other tourist spots.

The Sand Castle is owned by the Lewis family. Third generation Florida natives, we have loved the St. Augustine area for many years and chose to buy a beach house there in 2006. Our extended family often travels together staying in vacation rentals and we chose this house and outfitted it with all the amenities a large family or group of friends will need.
