Our rooms are warm and evocative, more flea market than zen chalet - Durham, NY Country Home Rental outside New York City We fell in love with this small, charming upstate hamlet 20 years ago. For a year, four of us looked for land outside New York City, wandering through all the counties looking for the elusive magic of a country home. We found those qualities in a tiny town of Cornwallville, in the Durham valley. We bought a house that is even more than we'd hoped. When the house next door became free, we bought that too. Our rental house was a parsonage once. It's strong and practical, and we filled it with books and dishes and quickly made it a home. It's a perfect place for a weekend, a week, a summer.
